I have used a set like those and they work great. I am 87 year young and need help keeping my feet in place. They also help to keep a smooth cadence when riding.

Personally being 80 years old riding a recumbent, I do want a strap to set my heels in to prevent my foot from slipping off the pedals especially with my electric motor pushing me at 17-18 miles per hour. I ride a 30 mile trail in 5 to 7 miles stretches most of the time. I have a homemade hauler on my car to park at different starting points. Quite a bit of the trail has fast moving creeks with a foot or two of water and other parts of the ride I'm on a levy along the Colorado River. If you ride an area like this, you may not want to tie your feet to the bike pedals in case of some freak accident where you wind up in the water. Just a couple of feet of water and you and your bike on your side and you can't get your feet out could prove fatal. If you do not ride near water, I don't see any problem with these pedal supports.

I prefer by far the SPD pedal type to your set -up.

you make it look so easy to put these on. I have a hard time reaching to put them on on my trike which the seat is back more then the one on the trike in the video. Is there some way to make it easier to get into these that I am just not seeing yet?

James, some people add an extra strap through the metal ring so that they don't need to reach so far to put them on and take them off. If you do that you just want to be sure that it's not long enough to get stuck in the chain.

yeah was thinking of trying that not sure what to use for that. thats the hardest part is getting it through the ring so long enough that it would already be through there would be good. Will look into adding extra strap if i can find something to use around here for that :)
