- Any foodie who has visited Nairobi will tell you that there’s one experience you must have when you visit the country-you have to eat exotic bush meats at the city’s most famous restaurant, Carnivore! Joining me on this latest food adventure are my guide Obed from Kumbukumbu Tours

CARNIVORE RESTAURANT: I’ve been dying to go to Carnivore Restaurant ever since 2004, when my cousin’s spouse first told me about it. We enjoyed an incredible, meat-heavy feast centering around three wild game meats: crocodile, ostrich meatballs, and ox balls. We also had pork spareribs, top sirloin, lamb, chicken, roasted potatoes, ostrich liver, beef ribs, a spicy courgette soup, several unique sauces, and some desserts!

I will forever remember the corporate lunches and dinners at the Canivore when I was in employment more than two decades ago. Dinners at the Canivore were routine rewards for the Team for a good financial year. They waiters would place a small paper flag on your table which they would ask you to lower when you had your fill of meat. The smart ones in our team would steer clear of the salads etc waiting the endless supply of all kinds of grilled meats. Blissfully yummy!! Can't afford a cup of Coffee at the place now, sigh,sigh,sigh!

Yes David ...would love to dine at that restaurant...crocodile /ostrich...never had but they look delicious ...the way it's prepped..also all the other foods looke delicious too....And the restaurant is really beautiful...the Dawa looks like a nice drink too. David. You are a beast. WOW!!! So much meat of all kinds. Too much protein, puts a strain on the kidneys. Where was the salad? Glad that they started you off with that lemon and honey drink: sort of like lemonade, although it looked like lime. You should have had the hot coffee or tea at the end. I see Tasos is following in your footsteps by mixing the sauces: surprised that you didn't do it too. Anyway, that restaurant and it's surroundings are very inviting and nice. The small pork ribs are called baby back ribs here in Toronto. I don't know what they call them there. But all in all, that's the perfect haven and heaven for true meat lovers. Loved watching you all enjoy that feast and all the meats were well cooked. Well done David. Now on to the next video.🙏🤗😋😋😋🇹🇹🇨🇦 BTW, that thumbnail with the skinned alligator was 😱
It isn't lime. It's our local lemon which is green in colour unlike your yellow lemons

And here, although there are no such things as baby back ribs, they are called 'baby back' ribs because they are smaller than the regular sized ones. @@maryalice5772 ok tks. In Trinidad our limes are green and our lemons are different to any of the lemons I see in North America and Canada. I can't really describe it but it's big with a rough skin and you can Google what a lemon looks like in Trinidad or the Caribbean/West Indies. I live in Canada now. Tks again 🇹🇹🇨🇦

I ate at The Carnivore back before the bushmeat ban. I have never eaten so much meat, everything was gorgeous. I just loved the metal plate idea, essential when they smack a meat-smothered sword on it and carve a slab off! I don't remember eating until about a week after (Chinese at Buffalo Bill's Wild West Saloon - a bar in Nairobi with saddles for bar stools, and the tables were covered wagons)
Buffalo Bills was one of my favourite places to hangout. Unfortunately it's been replaced by one of those "modern" hotels😢
It's amazing how the waiters wield their huge meat cutting machetes as they explain the type of sauces for the meat.
David, I can’t wait for you to set up your tourism program. I’m gonna be the first to book. I love learning about these different cuisines but now I want to taste them. Lol thanks again from your favorite fan.😊 if you do decide to do this, I will invest and have a percentage of the tourism program. I need a job lol.

I went there I think 18 years ago , with an entire emirates crew going on a layover with our step mom (working) and my younger brother this place was amazing we eat so much but oddly camel was so good. im so pleased this place is still going id love to go back one day Kenya is still a highlight of places I've visited. oh yeah those drinks are amazing

I do remember that Ostrich meat was available at the Big Carrot Gourmet market on the Danforth in Toronto 🇨🇦. My late friend Boni who enjoyed the flavourful taste dared me to try eating it but I timidly declined. The variety of exotic meats accompany by the different sauces are quite appealing. Sizzle, Sizzle .

David did you say ox 🐂 balls? Ok I see it on the menu. What is courgette? Just looked it up. A zucchini? Beautiful restaurant. I would try chicken, ostrich meatballs and 🐊. Love caipirinhas. Would love the courgette, potatoes, bread and sauces. I’ve had alligator in Florida and on cruises. It had no taste but the seasoning in the breading and the dipping sauces were 😋. Never had crocodile. Wait is it ostrich balls or the ground ostrich meat into meatballs? I do like liver. It looks so tender. Wow. I’m full just watching you 😂. The desserts look yummy as well. My last experience at the Carnivore was horrible. They served us rotten salsa, whipped cream over the jacket potatoes, the chilli sauce tasted like cod liver oil, the pork was dry. Never had a worse dining experience in Nairobi. Glad to see they improved though I still wouldn't go back since there are so many better options
