    Welcome to Mida Creek, Kenya! In this adventure, I’m taking you into the villages around the city of Malindi, roughly three hours north of Mombasa. We’ll be experiencing true local life in these remote villages and trying some grilled seafood! Come with me on this one-of-a-kind tour of the villages of eastern Kenya!
    Joining me on this experience are my guides from Kumbukumbu Tours and my good friend and cameraman Tasos.

    MIDA CREEK: In Mida Creek, I got to tour a remote village where we saw how they make palm wine and fry fish. We also got to sample some sweet palm wine and saw the entire process of how they grind corn for a rice and corn dish cooked in coconut milk. We rounded out the meal with sukuma wiki (greens), cassava cooked in coconut milk, roasted cassava, and barbecued cuttlefish and crab. It was a fantastic experience I’ll never forget!

    I enjoyed watching the video. Although I Left Kenya in the 60s I still have great memories of the country. It’s nice to see interaction of the natives. The same juice of the coconut tree flower in Goa we call it Toddy. The longer it’s kept turns into vinegar, Toddy is also turned into white alcohol. Great to see each country has it’s own rich culture. I wish to visit the place some day.

    I was watching street food at Makadara and pretty down when it ended - then this one appeared in my timeline (hot off the mshikaki fire). My highlight on this one was the way the grandad (head of village) was squatting playing with the kids 6:55 and 7:35. But the sadness (admiration) on this one was how hard it was to produce the meal. Respect!

All the food is so fresh and natural. What an interesting way of cooking the crabs and the cuttlefish in their natural state. Must have been sweet. Palm wine: natural viagara😅😅😅. Hope you and Tasos didn't drink too much.🤣🤣🤣. Anyway, this was such a nice change from the busy streets and markets. Just the way to cool off and relax especially with the beach close by. Stay cool. Mdaka Power! @David in our local language we call the palm wine (mnazi) ''Mdaka''. The fresh one has to take some time to ferment and ripen, since it is too sweat, you will get a headache and may be get drunk two days later🤣. So it's better to drink the palm wine that has really fermented well. Great videos, keep them coming

    • @Davidsbeenhere
      @Davidsbeenhere  Před rokem +7

      I've been to South Africa, Botswana and others so thats patently false. I definitely don't go to "primitive places" and I think thats more a reflection of your own judgements. Cairo is high on my list of places to visit however. You realize most of those places have already been visited and covered thousands of times already? Making content often requires making unique content that hasn't been done. I have a question for you though...why do you generalize about 300 million Americans though?

    • @Davidsbeenhere
      @Davidsbeenhere  Před rokem +7

      Respectfully I disagree because my job is to talk about and discuss each food. Much of my audience is from other places and so I want to make comparisons so that they can understand the flavors and texture. Also, a lot of food is connected historically and so making those references can help to add context. I hear what you are saying but I feel it isn't disrespectful but rather informative for big portions of my audience. Hopefully you understand my perspective here, but I do really appreciate you letting me know your feelings and I hope you have a really great day.

      Rita Safari: African and East Indian foods have an influence on a lot of foods somewhere in the world. We like that he compares foods to other countries and places, because everyone has his or her own version of how they prepare and cook the food. As much as we respect your opinion, just remember that YOU are not the only one watching these videos. What you may not like, other people may like. And another thing, please don't tell David what he should or shouldn't do when you tell him to "stop referencing other places while interviewing another all the time, etc. David respects other peoples' culture and custom. You may call it friendly criticism but what you are doing is dictating and censoring what David should or shouldn't do.

    • @JudyT868

      @@Davidsbeenhere hi Blondie/David. Good morning. Well said. I think some people still don't understand what you are all about and your way of doing these videos. It's about travel, history, culture, customs, food, etc. Comparisons are inevitably going to be made so people need to accept that. The thing about food is that no matter where you go, you would see some variation and adaptation of the same thing somewhere. Anyway, keep doing what you are doing. Have a great day 🙏💛🇹🇹🇨🇦

I am thankful you took a few moments to let me know and its something I will be a bit more mindful of in the future.
