As a McDonalds employee, I absolutely hated making the grimace shakes, because it didn’t show up when people ordered it, so it was almost never made on time.

I remember watching this show as a kid! Me and my brother would watch it quite often even if it's repeatedly. I remember grimace island and how the pirates were gonna tickle the gang and grimace saved them! (Although i haven't watched it in a long time)
I'm so happy you talked about the Ronald McDonald show. For a long time I thought I had just imagined the show as a kid. I did eventually find proof of the VHS tapes, but no one else remembered watching it, not even my brother who I had to share the TV with.
I've seen it. My mom bought me a VHS tape when i was little from like a church rummage sail or something. It was a weird show, like really weird.

It was most definitely a thing. Watched quite a few of them, but it was so long ago I couldn't tell you what happened in any of them.
I think that Grimace is upset at being forgotten for all of these years. McDonalds moved on. They kept Ronald around for a bit, but even he was left behind. It’s been years since McDonalds has acknowledged their mascots. Then, all of a sudden, McDonalds introduces the Grimace shake, acting like they were still friends the whole time.
I love this episode, the twist at the end just perfect 👌
I still think one of my favorite theories about the grimace shake deaths was that it was Ronald (the clown) that poisoned or tainted the drinks. Not that this isn't great, but the story of Ronald growing jealous that Grimace (originally a feared villan) made a comeback while the infamous clown mascot got pushed farther and farther from the spotlight. With Ronald and Grimace being the only one of these characters still somewhat used by the franchise, a framed Grimace would leave the clown to make a comeback. (This is not my original idea, just something I've heard from a freind)

I don't even think this is the first time it's happened. If they haven't already they should probably set up some sort of AI image comparison tool to help them out (something similar to a duplicate image finder like AllDup).
Ever since I heard about the shake, and this meme, I thought it was interesting that it was purple, which is the color of the KoolAid used in the mass "revoulutionary suicide" in Jonestown, Guyana in 1978. Purple drinks always have a sort of bad connotation, I'm surprised Matt didn't call out the color. I know Grimmace is purple so yeah makes sense but still😂😂😂😂

It's super surreal hearing MatPat talk about these tapes. I had them when I was a kid but hearing basically nothing about them from other kids or even in the form of ads until now they began to feel more like a weird dream than a show I actually watched.

10:15 on the Cholera theory, Cholera bacteria is communicated by touch as well being drunk; one core prevention method in countries who still get it is education on hand washing. So you’re right that Grimace showing-off his cup could potential have transmitted the bacteria to others. Then if others didn’t wash their hands between viewing it and eating/drinking, that would be all that’s needed to cause and outbreak.

You found it! The weird McDonald's cartoon fever dream of my childhood! I have literally not heard anyone talk about this since I was a kid, and part of me had started to believe I'd made it up.
I hate working at Mcdonalds lol and it's the fact they didn't tell us what flavor the shake was. We thought it would be birthday cake flavored but purple. We were so disappointed to find out its blueberry flavored when we tried it.
Huh? Are different McDonald's having different flavors? It tasted like brithday cake to me before the started adding sprinkles and calling it birthday. It had the batter taste with abit of sweet in it. I even had it twice because the meme is great at advertising it. I never tasted berry.
@@zerokura Our McDonald's is also privately owned by the Hamilton family. It's in Indiana. That could be why?
@zerokura MatPat also said it had a berry flavor but didnt say it was blueberry. Maybe there are several different kinds?
The shake became so popular that most McDonald's kept running out of ice cream mix 1 or 2 days after getting it. Most stores weren't able to order extra either cause the supplier of the ice cream mix couldn't keep up with demand.
