Overall, seems like a great all-day ultra shoe with just the right build and features without becoming too cumbersome. Great feedback on the shoe Ben!
Thanks for the thorough testing, Ben. That's a lot of K,'s and the shoe looks great. Big fan of stack height and cushioning for long ultras. Agreed that price is relative to quality and durability.

These for dryish conditions (British summer time), Mtn Racer 3 for other conditions.

They just make good shoes, I have owned two, they are not easily available in my area.. but I was not let down by the two shoes I had. Long may they stay independant and keep on mission.

Excellent summary, Ben 👍🏻 I haven't managed to blow through any uppers on any of my shoes yet. Lots of people seem to do that though. I must be doing something wrong 😂

Nice review, they look like a good road to trial training shoe when comfort needed. Like the wide toe box and impressive durability after 400km.
It's been a real work horse Tom. Can't really find anything wrong with it. I guess if you really prefer that snug toe hugging fit then it won't be the shoe for you but if you're looking to cruise in comfort I think you will be hard pressed to find a better option. Thanks for watching mate. 😎🤘
I like the similarities to hoka that 5mm to 6mm drop seems to work well for me. And i love the wide toe box. Hokas a known for being narrow. Finding it on mach 6 now. Great review bro might give these a whirl

Great review mate. Always been intrigued by Topo particularly because of the wideness but never tried so good to know your thoughts on them. I'd be interested to know how many miles you get out of them, sounds like they could be pretty durable

Love how people look at £150-200 being reasonable for trainers, which will last maybe a few months, yet spend far less on work shoes which you'll spend far more of your day wearing 😂
I use my ex running shoes for work. Once he outsoles are completely toast they then become my daily walk abouts. Gotta get my money's worth. 🤣👍
Hoka Mafate Speed 4 might suit Ben?
@@carlstoakes6240 I have a pair of Mafates Carl. Another great shoe. 👌 They have much better traction in the trails than the Topos but they aren't as nice to run on the roads. Thanks for watching bud. 😎🤘
@@BenNotley Was considering the Mafate's as my next shoe. How would you rate the Topo, Mafate & Speedgoat 5s in 1st, 2nd & 3rd place?
@@carlstoakes6240 they have different uses really mate. The mafate is great for mountain running and also muddier conditions because of the more aggressive lugs. The Topo is more similar to a Hoka ATR but has a wider toe box and I think higher quality cushioning but it terms of uses very similar to a ATR. The speedgoat is in between them. You can pick up the pace more in the speedgoat and that traction is better but not as cushioned as the Topo. I hope that kind of makes sense 🤣

What's the sizing like Ben? Is it True to size or would you say go up/down half size?
True to size for me - albeit I tend to go half a size up on trail shoes for my ultras.
I would say go true to size Paul. They seem larger because of the toe box space but no issues with the length. Thanks for watching mate. 😎🤘
Been wearing Altras since 2015 but last year got a road and trail pair of Topo's. The road pair are as good as any Altra Torin both in fit/comfort and durability. The trail pair on the other hand are not good. The Vibram sole whilst grippy is so stiff - it hasn't loosened up at all even with over 150 miles ran in them. Also the bonded outsole and rand has delaminated from the upper. I certainly wouldn't buy again.
Sounds like you've been having a few issues with your pair of trail shoes. What model have you been using? Ultraventure or something different? As I say I haven't experienced any build quality issues with my pair. I will do an update short if I find any issues with it in the future. Thanks for watching! 😎🤘
@@BenNotley Yes they were Ultraventure ones. Can't think when I got them but a couple of years ago now. Shame as the road ones are really good. Maybe I just had a rogue pair or I'm so used to my Altra Olympus 4s for my long runs for the comfort. Worn the Olympus for TP and A100 and half of the 50 Slam so far this year and for now I'll stick with those.
