  • Reverend John Davenport and his childhood friend, businessman
Theophilus Eaton, lead a wave of the wealthiest and strictest Puritans out of England, unknowingly toward the tail end of the Puritan Exodus. Arriving in Massachusetts they find the colony divided and the "City on a Hill" already tainted with heresy. Davenport and Eaton decide to form their own colony of New Haven out beyond the domain of Massachusetts, Plymouth or Rhode Island.

This is so interesting. Nearly all of my mom’s ancestors were Puritans from Massachussets and Connecticut. You are telling me all about their lives, and solving some mysteries!

It's the Rich Scumbags who wrote the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution who are still Screwing America today even as they lay in their graves.

Can't thank you enough for the amazing level of detail you manage to incorporate. While it would be difficult for a 1-hour podcast to be as thorough as an entire book dedicated to the subject, you present so many names, dates and specific events that it makes further research that much easier to carry out. Amazing channel and presentation style... THANKS!

My grandfather on my mother's side move to Burbank, California from New Haven, Connecticut in 1949. His ancestors came to MA in 1635, founded Salisbury, MA, and later on moved to New Haven, CT. I grew up on near the beach in Ventura, California.

MY family landed in Boston 1630 and went to Quinnipiac which became New Haven. There are many descendents. I grew up in Pinole Ca, and only found this out at 59. They came from Leicester.

@@cathleenweston3541 You probably have some ancestors linked to people who came on the Mayflower if your ancestors lived in MA and CT until the 20th century. I found out through some of my ancestral lines I'm related to Mayflower passengers William Bradford, William Bruster, and James Chilton. I'm related to them because my grandfather didn't leave CT until 1949. His family being there since 1635 gave them a lot of time to marry into other families with Mayflower ancestors.

New Haven Colony.. Great maybe I’ll hear about my ancestorit John Wakemen and how he settled Derby. Nope -apparently he accused a man of sleeping with a pig. I lived outside of New Haven all of my life. Recently moved to Winthrop Maine. Kind of ironic I landed in Winthrop.
Really enjoyed your video. Can’t wait to listen to more.
