Powder Post Beetles are tiny wood destroying insects that are very misunderstood. The larvae stage of the beetles burrow into wood and feed for, in some cases, many years. The size of the hole vs his finger gives a good indication.
If you weren't lazy and checked Google, you'd know the holes are 1.5mm - 2mm.
