    Vegemite is to Australians what Grape Jelly is to Americans. Australians generally think grape jelly is awful.

    Australians born in the 50s and 60s were weaned on Vegemite before they knew any better, like Vegemite on teething rusks etc. They have grown up addicted to the salty taste .

    Poached egg... boil water, maybe put in a tiny bit of vinegar, swirl it around and crack an egg in the middle. Basically boiled outside the shell. Lift out when soft boiled with a spoon.

      An easier way, put some cling wrap in a mug, drop in 1/8th of a teaspoon of water, twist the top, remove from the cup, and dangle it in the boiling water.

    Mate. isn't Eggs Benedict an American Dish. I think New York. I live on a cattle station, one day I was playing with toy cars with my Grandson on the verandah. I was sitting on the cement when a 6 foot Black snake came from behind me and went across my knee. All I could do was put my hand on my Grandsons chest and push him slowly behind me on the other side. I dont like snakes, it wasn't fun waiting for this big bugger to move on. Bloody Grand kids. Gotta love them. PS Real Big Pants Aussie's love Vegemite.

    Some overseas visitors do enjoy Vegemite, including Brits, those who use a soy sauce, some Americans who don't have a sweet tooth for sugar bread! 🧐 Wow, he's grown his hair and relaxed since this! 😂👍

    If you're trying eggs benedict for the first time, I would recommend asking for the sauce on the side. It's a fairly strong flavour, and some places absolutely drench everything in it.

    My wife loves spiders and snakes (She loves ALL animals). She cured me of arachniphobia. Eggs Benedict Delicious. Poached eggs? Same. New to vegemite. Taste needs to be explained, and at first, just a whisper on your toast.

      I'm not a fan of spiders or snakes (or other animals):
      - if they're outside leave them alone,
      - if they're inside I help them go back outside (then refer to first point)

    Vegemite is like a lot of foods . . . It's an acquired taste. A lot of Australians don't like it. It took me YEARS to like avocado, but I still hate asparagus and blue cheese, eggplant and cooked carrots. That's just a few! 😂

    The only thing that you really have to be careful of are the bloody drop bears , now these little bastards will attack for no reason at all.

    In Australia almost all the snakes you see are venomous and almost none of the spiders are not. There are of course some exceptions for both. The snakes are mostly timid and will run away from you if they have the opportunity.

    I was starting to think that you were becoming an honourary Aussie Neal' but this reaction to our loves is blinkered philistine and pig-ignorant. I'll forgive poached eggs and vegemite; but I can't forgive snakes and spiders. The snakes are gorgeous, and most are non-venomous, and those that are, are not a threat if you just let them be. To mention a beautiful and docile example, it's the black-headed python. And for spiders check the golden orb weaver for beauty and the Saint Andrews Cross spider for architectural mastery and if you're fortunate enough to have a huntsman or two in your house, you will have no need for pest control, and they don't make webs.

    • @bernadettelanders7306

      No need for pest control if u have Huntsman???
      That’s when I called pest control lol. One, 2, 3, staring to push it, in one day. On my washing machine as I was about to turn it on, one in shower base as I was about to get in shower, one on my hand which was on of mouse - and walls and ceiling’s - oh and the one that ran at me whilst in the loo lol. That was about one weeks worth, there were more . Yes I called the - I don’t usually mind huntsman but enough is enough pest controller man.
      Apparently they breed in trees, so he told me, the one right outside my kitchen window - yes the whole family was moving in. He sprayed. Then he emptied spray on my plants. He said don’t worry, won’t hurt, I use this in the children’s hospital. Wow , safe for humans - but not about, I’d say 20 or so huntsmen in a week 😱😂.
      Now u have me looking around the walls - a plague of huntsman scared me for life lol

    • @davidarmstrong3564
      @davidarmstrong3564 Před měsícem

      @@bernadettelanders7306 Shame, shame on you. How can you kill a huntsman? I have conversations with mine that solve all the problems of the world while I sit on the loo. this is antipatriotic.

    • @bernadettelanders7306
      @bernadettelanders7306 Před měsícem

      I didn’t kill them, the pest man did . I grew up with Harry the Huntsman often sitting on a wall, never bothered me, but a plague is different. If I got pest man for one or 2, he wouldn’t have done it. But he said, yup, far too many, needs to be done, as I said there was a nest of them. I took a few pics when they started, but a few in every room, every day, anywhere. I think when I got over 10 huntsman in 2 days, I started to get concerned. If a pest contractor said yes, it was way past normal
