Just read both books back to back... then immediately listened to Dog Man Star. Loved the books, loved Suede, Brett is fascinating and it was great to hear him describe and discuss songs I'm so familiar with

It's definitely not them. If you look on the Wikipedia page for Chapterhouse it lists the members of that band, it just so happens that a couple of them looked similar to Bernard and Brett somewhat.
