Not enough superlatives...Mathis easily demonstrates why he's still at a level only a handful of vocalist will ever realize...and he's at the top of that list!!! Remarkable.The pairing of him and Ms. Payne caught me off guard. Bravo to her.
This is simply incredible. He was 85 when he recorded this. His voice is a miracle. The range is still there, he's smack on pitch, no horrible wobble in the voice. He doesn't need to perform all the vocal gymnastic many singers do to try and avoid high notes or 'navigate' around them. Beautiful tone, beautiful intonation. What a gift. Thank you. ❤
Johnny Mathis is an American treasure, the man can still sing beautifully at the age of 85... Most folks can't sing Happy Birthday well, at any age! Pairing Freda Payne with Mr. Mathis was a great idea, what a duet!

For the first time, I was fortunate enough to attend a live Johnny Mathis concert at Pechanga Casino in Temecula on June 22, 2024. I had tickets for his previous show there. But I got Covid, had to isolate and could not go. I’ve been a devoted fan of this magnificent singer singer for many years. At 88, Johnny is spectacular not just with his velvet voice but also as an entertainer. With his lively eyes, facial expressions, body movements and tangible warmth on stage, Johnny lights up the stage and venue both musically and physically. I had to refrain myself at times from singing out loud with him since I am familiar with the lyrics and melodies of many of his songs. At 77 now, it was well worth my wait to experience the Mathis Magic in person at last.

*My dad was a huge Johnny Mathis fan when my brothers and me were growing up near Dumfries in Scotland. There was always a Johnny Mathis 8-track cartridge playing in the car (does anybody else remember 8-track cartridges or is it just me? lol) His voice was just amazing (Johnny Mathis that is... not our dad!) It's astonishing to hear how great his voice still was, here in 2019. Most male vocalists end up having to drop an octave or two by the time they get to 50 or so, but not Johnny Mathis. Still singing the high notes pitch-perfect, and as smooth and effortless as ever. Thanks for uploading this. Just Johnny's voice brings back so many happy memories. God bless ya Johnny x.*

His voice is still INCREDIBLE!!! Just dreamy!! Thank you, mom for dragging me to his concert kicking and screaming-at 12. Changed my life. I became a Johnny Mathis groupie almost. I’ve seen him well honestly I’ve lost count. We have tickets, but they’ve been postponed. Only COVID could make me miss it. Love you forever! And Freda means 3 words-Fab-u-lous!!
We always had Johnny and Freda playing as a child 2 beautiful voices and walking down the road I was 10 years old singing band of gold Freda Payne and holding on to that long note two wonderful artist what a beautiful version I'm so pleased they are healthy and looking great both singers sing with such feeling control pitch and improvisation so refreshing love to you both Tim x

WOW!! They both still sound terrific!! Johnny sounds better than ever. And NO 10-15 supportive 'dancers', Rap-interlude or stage-effects needed!! I'm a traditional Jazz/R&B guy, but I can listen to this all day! I MISS HEARING 'ACTUAL' SINGERS!!!

This man is underrated
Now this is REAL music that makes one feel young, carefree, and happy. Superb performance by two master musicians is my only way if expressing my evaluation.
I’ve listened to many interviews about Johnny. I’ve learned a lot from them. Perseverance comes to mind when I hear Johnny tell how he started. First of all he had parents whom recognized his gift at an early age. I believe his father started him singing and gave him music lessons. He acknowledged that his son had a gift certainly he wanted to pursue a career for talents. Well I love Johnnys remarkable voice. All of his songs are great. I have my favorites “Maria”, “99 miles to LA”, “April In Paradise”,”Misty”, “Laura”, “Charades”, etc. I listen to these songs day and night. You have made my heart happy Johnny. Until the ends of the earth. God bless😇😇❤️❤️💯💯💯💯💯
