  • After a couple of years I thought it might be time for a re-model of my table. So here it is, the first part of my ham-fisted attempt at it!

Thanks for dropping by to look at the video. A bit of DIY fun, still in progress but it's the beginning of maybe something bigger! Any comments warmly received, especially if you have a stadium build and how easy or difficult it is to play reaching over the stands!

Love the fact that you were able to utilise the old surround to put the new stands on - looks great!

Thanks Darren, like I said in the video, luck more than judgment but has made it a lot easier to convert. Now to decide, if I develop the table further!

Thanks Paul, yes I can imagine the carnage, fans and accessories everywhere, lol. Looking forward to playing the home internationals, 1976 was an interesting set of matches, I hope I can do it justice!

Brilliant mate looking good. I do like the panel look though.

Thanks Martin 👍 I’m really torn about extending the stands to the sides. I like the Countryside inserts I use for the Cricket, so would lose that if I went full stand set up. I might extend to one side and leave one side as it is, but it might look a bit odd. Like I say I’m torn over the options.

Im liking the new look ground using fans👍. Blu tac works well keeping the fans in place plus also gives you the option of moving the fans about if you wanted at a later date.
You could use low level stands or terraces along the sides made by Hoggard 3D Designs or similar 3D designers that way they wouldn't interfere with game play.

Thanks Dave, I was toying with the idea of Blu-tac for the fans but just went full Superglue on it. The fans are all members and season ticket holders 😊 The side next to the wall might be just the thing for what David does. I still have my Countryside inserts in the meantime. Again something else to consider 👍

@@SubbuteoFocus The beauty is you can change back anytime you want using all the original boards gives you 2 stadiums in one a different feel when playing. Probably a pain but if it was every 6 months or longer not so bad.

That looks brilliant! Just wonderering where you bought the stands? Id love to get them for myself!

Cheers 👍The first 4 stands I got in a job lot so worked out to about £10 each. But buying separately with boxes in most cases they seem to range between £15-£25 plus postage. I paid £22 for the set of two. All off eBay. I have seen similar on Facebook marketplace. It’s also worth joining Facebook Subbuteo buying and selling groups if you haven’t already. Fingers crossed you find some at a good price 👍. Oh and then there’ll be spectators to put in them, it’s never ending 😁

clever way of doing the stands if you ask me. have you considered solo keepers for your game? these were a game changer for me with solo play as i found the normal keepers to easy to beat, the solo keepers are awesome, im going to assume you have? would love to know your thoughts on them. as for the stadium play, they look amazing but are definitely harder to navigate making for a slower game, then theres all the clutz moments knocking everything over.

The stands turned out well, the height of the MDF was just right to lay down flat for them. Very lucky, saved some work and cost. The solo keepers are very good but I actually prefer the standard keepers. I like the fact they’re a bit smaller. For me it’s about the goals scored and it does give you a better chance of scoring. And I love the way they can tip shots away or onto a post. Laying them flat has produced some fantastic saves. And having a stand behind the goal means that putting the keeper handle against them will stop them being pushed back into the net. Which I know can happen with a strong head on shot. And the final thing, they look authentic, they come with the team so for me they look like the rest of the team. And I like the thought that in the past someone else would have used them. With the stadium and practicality of playing I’m thinking of keeping to the single tier grey style and not getting any two tier stands. Easier to reach over and will keep it looking like a cricket ground when I play the cricket. You also need to get closer to the table batting and bowling in solo Cricket play. Thanks for the comment 👍
