Absolutely unhistorical and low-budget, and yet I still always enjoy this scene! It's just fun getting to see Britannic 'in action' as it were, and some of the shots are really nicely composed - the torpedo cutting through the water and barely missing her bow, and that almost painterly shot of Britannic and Victoria as the depth-charges sink the sub, the torpedo trails bold in the water.
"It is unsinkable!" I can't believe they actually put that line in! There's NO WAY anyone aboard Britannic would have said something like that after what happened to her sister! It would be like if someone on the One World Trade Center said, in all seriousness during a crisis, "this building is airplane-proof!"
The titanic sank because of a fire in the building of the titanic so it was meant to be built to be unsinkable but it got damaged which made it really easy to sink with damage from a fire in the building of the titanic, the Britannic probably did not have a fire so the ship would have been unsinkable except there was a mine stronger than the Britannic which caused the Britannic to sink. The titanic would not have sank from that iceberg if it wasn't for that fire.
@COOLGAMINGSHOW - The World Trade Center impact fires didn't melt the Twin Towers' structural steel; they weakened the steel across multiple floors until it could no longer support the structure above. When the steel lost its tensile strength, it collapsed beneath the weight of the overburden. There was more overburden to the South Tower impact, which is why it collapsed first though it wasn't struck first.
It's amazing to me how shallow the wreck of the Britannic is comparing to her sister ship, Titanic. Britannic rests at a depth of roughly 400 ft, less than half the ship's length. Titanic rests at over 4km (12,000 ft) below the surface.
As she sank, she hit the bottom. As suvivors stated, her poop deck stood still a little longer out of the water because of that. She didn't fit there for a few moments.

After what happened to Titanic, never have they ever claimed that the Britannic was unsinkable. The White Star Line didn't want customers/passengers being afraid of the ship. All they did to the ship was add more compartments, with compartment seals over the top, and the bulkheads being extended farther up, and the main hull was doubled to be able to sustain more damage than the Titanic did, and they added more lifeboats to ensure the safety of the ship

We all don't know what really happened to the ship. the most likely cause was either a mine, a torpedo, or an empty compartment full of coal dust, which is highly flammable. Yes, there were reports of a lot of subs in the Mediterranean Sea, but there also reports of many mines being found. The shop also had an empty compartment full of coal dust, and even a little bit of a breeze can cause an explosion more powerful than nitroglycerin. The ship did not get torpedoed, it hit a mine. So the movie is wrong with that. Also, both sides of the war agreed not to torpedo Hospital ships, considering both sides had them.
Everyone in the comment section talks about the "unsinkable" ship. No one talks about the U-BOAT attacking a red-cross labelled ship that is Illegal to attack in war.
“This is the biggest ship in the world.......” In fact that was historically incorrect. SS Bismarck (later know as RMS Majestic) was the biggest ship in the world at that moment.
It’s kind of obvious that you cannot see a underwater mine. The ship only hit because they didn’t realize they were heading for a mine. This was not a torpedo. If it was it would blast toward the ship like a rocket

To all the haters leaving comments on how this is inaccurate and the conspiracy theories on that she was actually struck by a torpedo or if she really hit a mine: this is a film. A movie. I don't see you guys raging about something like Infinity War, so please, kindly, shut up.
I feel you man. people need to realize that this film is hotorical fiction, based on true events but never actually occuring in real life😁
Britannic did happen and I hate infinity war so....the sinking may be wrong :p
Well written, sir!
Spencer Townsend but this is a film based on something that happend infinity war is made up. the britan i is not made up so will you kindly shut up you daft fool
@@5thfjreenactor602 bro seriously calm down
The sad thing is that this sinking wasn't even remembered
Tbh when the torpedo boomed, i felt just like the people
The ship did not get torpedoed, it hit a mine. So the movie is wrong with that. Also, both sides of the war agreed not to torpedo Hospital ships, considering both sides had them.
In defense of the movie, it was made in 2000. It was discovered that she struck a mine in 2003.
@@jlanaville6525 what??? Even the officers on the britannic knew it was a mine

Why does that scene always make me cry???
Because an innocent torpedo was murdered.
@@nerdzy8454 it was rip torpedo 1916-1916😔
@@chocopuff180 that didn’t exist…
You practically jinxed it when you say it's unsinkable
Everyone in the comment section talks about the "unsinkable" ship.
No one talks about the U-BOAT attacking a red-cross labelled ship that is Illegal to attack in war.
It's a fictional movie and they explain why in the movie. They torpedoed it after a failed hijacking
I have on question... why did they put the hospital cross everywhere, it feels like that would give Germany more of a reason to attack it
CRAZY CHICKEN WINGS it’s a war crime.
Hospital ships were there so they can transport wounded soldiers back home or to Port, as well as transport mail and cargo
So that it will be clear to see that it's a hospital ship, because attacking a hospital ship is a war crime.
But they had weapons on board, so technically it was not a war crime XD
that's false. they never carried any weapons aboard the ship

HMHS Britannic Quote: “This ship is unsinkable.”
Titanic already proved that no ship is unsinkable.
it was funny how the people who were attacking Britannic were like sinking underwater and they were just panicking
“This is the biggest ship in the world.......” In fact that was historically incorrect.
SS Bismarck (later know as RMS Majestic) was the biggest ship in the world at that moment.
wrong
this movie is the definition of historically incorrect

Was that the same HMS Victoria that is the vertical wreck?
Did it happen like this in reality before Britannic hit an underwater mine?
Good thing he had that cannon for that looney toons torpedo.
It's a Lewis Machine Gun from WWI
@@Ja3dn No shit, Sherlock. WOOOOOOOOSH!
Man:this is the biggest ship in the world it is unsinkable
Me:and how did britannic sink.
It’s kind of obvious that you cannot see a underwater mine. The ship only hit because they didn’t realize they were heading for a mine. This was not a torpedo. If it was it would blast toward the ship like a rocket
U-boat: Fires torpedoes
Britannic and HMS Victoria: you have chosen death
Why were there children in a royal navy ship
Hi just to let you know Britannic was a hospital ship and under laws of war was unable to be attacked so was able to carry civilians but on this trip it was solely nurses and officers that were on board these children are fictional characters for the movie
um excuse me u think ships are only for grownups? no thats not true children are allowed on ships
Glendal1988 Hospital ships were only crewed by the Royal Navy. Crew and medical personnel only.
Yeah
Mekdes Gebretsadik
Only nurses and officers were allowed on hospital ships
german vs british
Britannic is an American ocean liner
This is used to recover me from flu, fever, etc...
The wireless man said sir 3 times and fun fact: the torpedo that looks like it is trying to hit looks like the same it did on the lusitania
Only it sank in 1915 the documentary was released in 2007 and this was released in 2000 and the ship sank in 1916 then 1 year later the us entered ww1
CAPTAIN: THIS IS IA UNSINKABLE THERE IS NO ACCIDENTS LIKE THE TITANIC
ME: UHHH I WANT REFOUND AND GET ME OFF THIS SHIP NOW PLS THANK YOU
I dislike it. EVERY ship are sinkable
Its not every ship. If ship doesnt touch the water its not sinkable😂
@@user-ll1gg4zj2r No shit
That's why, Britannic is my favourite steamship. 🚢 But, I'm really so sad because my steamship had be sunk by a submarine or maybe a naval mine.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Kid:there was a big explosion
Me;of course, there was a missile that came from a U-boat HMS Victoria Bombarded
