  • G80 BMW M3 is still feisty, but it's so much better than the previous model. Rear-drive Competition model tested here

Love this spec - Red with those wheels with the black carbon seat interior.. really works. Hardest thing in finding is trying to lock in a spec. Brooklyn grey also brings the lines of design out.

Yep, thought it looked better in dark colours but red works

Wonderful car, but I still can't get over that grille. I think the new M3 would be great fun to drive. Great work, as always.

What about the heft of the M3? Does it impede the feel of nimbleness typical of its kind?

It is heavy but feels lighter than predecessor and certainly not leaden. Lots of feel, nice and agile 👌

It's only 150lbs more than the f80. They've been weighed by a few people already

Most people that dislike the grille have either not seen it in person or are simply regurgitating the trend. Trust me, when one sees this car in person, the grille is the last thing on your mind. It's truly a spectacular car

Leave them, they live to criticize the BMW anyway. They love it so much but they would like to hate it. Well, when you're the best you attract the most scrutiny.

My 2020 AWD Stinger 3.3TT would eat this M3s lunch and ask for 2nds--get WD or go home. These run about mid 13s at the drag cause they can not get the power down.M3 is the most wrecked car at nurbring--mustangs 2nd.

Thanks for comment but I don’t think it would. I ran a RWD stinger for six months in uk and borrowed AWD in US. Both were great,, but M3 a different level. AWD M3 coming, and it’ll be a monster. but straight-line acceleration only small part of story

@@benbarrycars7628 I have 100 hours of track time at road Atlanta. I also have geomet cross drilled and vented track level rotors all the way around on my stinger--installed by KIA to work with the brembos.I tracked the old M3 and an M3 can not get around a track faster.RWD is plain out old tech--and hopefully they do put AWD on an M3--85k plus car. The xm3 and xm4 can run circles around the m3 right now.I would not buy an m3 withour AWD.problem is because of the price--If i goto a road course track--i have the extra 1k to just rent a race/GTR car that the track provides that will dust my stinger and an M3.I am not shitting on M3--i am shitting on the price of it and no AWD. They are way overpriced.

This is a great and very perceptive review. A few comments:
    1. I’m not alone in liking he nose, it would seem. Reminds me of 70s Pontiac Firebird.
    2. Interior is too fussy. A step back from the wonderful simplicity of a 2003 M3 CSL.
    3. Isn’t the Drift Monitor as useless a device as MINi’s Openometer from 20 years ago?
    4. I would have this M3 a million times before the Taycan RWD you tested recently.
    Keep these reviews coming!
