I don’t even play baseball but I watch it I find these so fun to watch
It's worth noting that with the recent minor league reorganization, minor league travel will probably be a little better. First, the leagues are now reorganized to have a more compact geographic footprint, so bus rides won't be as long. Second, the typical schedule will now be playing 6-game series Tuesday through Sunday with Monday as a rest/travel day, so fewer bus trips in a season and no playing in different cities on consecutive days.
This channel seems to have a lot of minor and former major leaguers subscribed which makes the comment section even more interesting
It has to be a huge slice of humble pie when you go from the Four Seasons (The Bigs) back to the Motel 6 (Minors) lol.

When I was in the army, I flew on c-141 from Fort Carson CO. to Fort Irwin, CA. The plane flew MAP of the earth, and I got sick and Pucked in my Kelvar. I should have never ate the MRE until the landed!🤣

Can you talk about gambling in the big leagues on the plane or in the clubhouse? I've heard stories where these guys come in with huge bonuses and pretty much gamble it away and lose it to the other players.

In 1990 I was with Seattle, I saw Ken Griffey Jr. lose $20k to Jeff Leonard in 30 minutes playing 2 card guts. we were on the plane and almost in gradual descent. Jr didn't care, he just got the $20k cash for a card signing show in Chicago

I like how Matt talks about how he was good back in the day and then is straight up honest about his major league stint and is like yeah I sucked. I thought he was a good player. A lot better and went a lot further than tens of thousands of others. So I think he did alright!

As a hitter, can you tell the difference? And does it make a difference what the type of pitch is, or do you just try to hit it, regardless of the type of pitch?
Yes !!
MLB travel used to be a lot more comfortable when there were 12 teams per league and no interleague games. Most of the series were 3 and 4 games and trips to the west coast generally involved visiting all three teams in a two week period. There are a whole lot more travel days in 2020 than there were in 1975.

Has a game ever been canceled or postponed due to traveling issues? Cant remember ever seeing a game missed due to traveling
One thing you didn't mention was the logistics moving the team from town to town... I read a book called "The Grind" about one year with the Nats, and part of the book was about how they had to move all that stuff, including stuff like players' golf clubs or musical instruments... all put in their hotel rooms, players treated like royalty.
Does that mean some players golf before a game??

Casey Smith??? Didn't he spend a good deal of time in the Angels organization as well? If it's the same Casey Smith I am thinking of, I watched him play a LOT of games for Salt Lake growing up. I remember him getting a walk off hit to finish like a 10 run comeback at one of the best games I ever witnessed. Great times.

Mine is field of dreams. Others I like are the rookie, the sandlot, 61*, million dollar arm, rookie of the year, and the final season. Used to watch Tiger Town with Roy scheider years ago when i was a kid. No one ever really talks about that one.
