@@tomy4onetomyHTWNPhillips, 66% rec, 0 ints in college. 5'10", 4.48s 40, very grabby, he was big reach for 3rd rnd just like Flott. Maybe platoon slot, Phillips on run, Flott on pass. Or whoever loses CB2, Hawkins or McCloud plays slot. Johnson is PS, if Robinson can play.
Mccloud might get the outside CB phillips on inside this DC knows the players he wants camp should be interesting

Front 7 will help the young secondary look better. And Bowen will scheme it well. Defense should be solid. Need the offense to do enough and we can win games.

I honestly think Tre Hawkins III can win the starting job… hear me out he play well in preseason but wasn’t ready for regular season, so year 2 he can take a jump and we’re running more zone and with his size and athleticism he’s the one
Yeah but last year he made a business decision to avoid a rb. I forget which game it was but it looked bad
Phillips attacks screens aggressively and has good vision instinctive plays the run well

Bro we had the 15th ranked 13th and 14th ranked defense that's not incredible but also not sucky as you say... our 32nd ranked offense receivers and oline was why the defense wasn't better couldn't move the ball other than running it oh and our genius organization dumped the best rb in the league to the damn eagles.
@@richcropsey572 they were 26th in giving up points. That sucks. IDC about yards. My point is blitz is too one dimensional. To easy to predict and score on; thus the poor ranking
True indeed my friend but think about all of those 3 n outs or they get an int or a fumble and the offense gives it right back that's very deflating and going back watching those games that's 90 percent of what hurt us

Any team that was good at picking up blitzes killed us, and Wink didn't adjust.
Hawkins is an example of why you don’t fall in love with guys because of a good camp. He abysmal once the real games began. That being said, I’m not
giving up on him. I agree with Anthony. McCloud actually is decent. I see him as a possible up and comer.

While not a good year for the secondary in general, both Deonte Banks and Cordel Flott played better than Adoree Jackson. Nick McCloud had the best season in the secondary last season (PFF was 74). Banks had a rough start, but he improved throughout the season. Bowen's defense should put less pressure on the secondary with more safety support than Martindale's defensive scheme.
No offense we have so many damn “slot Corners “ Holmes , Flout, now Philips. We need as real boundary CB who can handle his own on an island. T.J Tampa dropped down a lot 6’2 corner or Jackson from Oregon . I’m not denying Andrews is talented just can’t justify taking him that high for such a niche position.
Tre hawkins
It's going to be a great battle. Hawkins has best speed/size/toughness but will Hawkins learn not to be faked out so easily, did Flott bulk up a little to cover tougher rec, will McCloud be fast enough for man outside. Flott not tough enough for slot/nickle. If Flott doesnt win CB2 he might not see field.
Anthony is right on this one. McCloud was signed for millions and earned it through his play. This regime doesn’t care about where you were drafted. They paid McCloud smartly because he’s been fantastic on the field. He can play. He is better than Flott and Holmes and Hawkins. I am excited about him.

I think it’s time to cut bate and use that money to pick up a vet CB to compete. Or use that money to sign the rookies etc. sorry if poor grammar tonight. As I said I got engaged tonight lol. Oh Alex just mentioned whaler lol.
The secondary terrifies me, the run defense terrifies me, the OLINE terrifies me. I think we are better offensively than last year, that’s not saying much, but I wish we followed Harbaugh’s approach. Don’t blink because soon the chargers are going to be a MF JUGGERNAUT…. My record prediction 4-13

They should have traded up in the second ( giving up their second and third) and went for Kool-aid, or Dejean, or someone more solid.
Adoree was a Titan... why would they not sign him? If he cant get a contract elsewhere he should take significantly less $
Sorry just my opinion but Flott is a better fit outside esp in coverage, he seemed to struggle in the slot last yr and if we are using AJ Brown is the reference Flott did a very good job against him in 2022 and if you question his physicality why would you want Flott in the slot just doesn’t make any sense

It doesn't work that way. Neal is a first round pick. At worst, they'll move him inside to guard.
Neal isn't going to be a giant he doesn't want to be a guard he wants to be tackle and he's bad at it maybe he will prove me wrong having Runyan helping him but idk he's like erek flowers but maybe a tiny bit better because he isn't on the blind side
Yeah. But Nubin was a decent pickup. It's an unpopular take, but I really wish we could've traded back and gone heavy DEFENSE in this draft since there were SO MANY GREAT OFFENSIVE players in this draft.
