    For those who dont know quite a few states and utility companies offer incentives on EVs. Where I live its roughly $10k grand off even without the federal tax credit. Lease payments can be ~$70 - ~$150 for a one or two year term. I also get free charging through work. For those who dont get it this is why you see so many EVs around. You cant get a new car for cheaper. Its the perfect second cheap car that compliments a miata / corvette perfectly.

    Just bought a 40kWh one and it is superb for around town use, solid build quality (we got the Japan made one) and if you only charge it with the AC charging (J1772 for you guys) it won't overheat. In my country we also have a locally assembled base model Ioniq 5 for a little bit more, but because it's too wide for our roads and we only use it in town, we chose this instead.

    • @nygelmiller5293
      @nygelmiller5293 Před 5 měsíci

      To Hqy22.
      No it's not nice! It's partly responsible for such high vehicle prices today - having wildly overpowered engines that must be expensive! And with crowded roads over time - who is going to get to use the power anyway?
      PLUS today's overpowered cars are dangerous if somebody has wet soles on their shoes, and they inadvertantly slip on the accelerator, and race into people waiting at a bus stop?
      The cars now are only designed as playthings for designers to boast ever more powerful engines fit fir a race track - rather than being fit for purpose!

    • @Hqy22
      @Hqy22 Před 5 měsíci

      @nygelmiller5293 look, I do agree that something with more power might cause accidents, but your points make no sense. First of all, you could argue that any vehicle is dangerous, regardless of horsepower figures (besides, 200 hp isn't that much anyway). Second, to complain about engines making too much power (and influencing price) is absolutely ridiculous. If you don't want an expensive vehicle that's a bit faster, just buy a Nissan Versa or something. If you're saying all this because of something that happened to you in the past, then I apologize, but please look to think differently.

    As someone who owned a ‘19 SV Plus there’s a lot that Nissan got right, and just as much that Nissan got wrong. This car was mid at best five years ago. The only thing that made it competitive was price and that’s gone now since it only qualifies for half the tax credit these days. I bought mine as a daily and put almost 85k on my car over four and a half years and everything about this thing was mid, the reliability, the maintenance, the comfort, the performance etc… It really is the Sentra of EVs. The biggest positive is that like the Bolt, the Leaf is a gateway EV to better electric cars. While it may be the Sentra of EVs, driving this thing is way better than driving a Sentra and it’s what convinced the wifey and I to become a two EV household with her Mach-E and my Polestar 2.

      I get it, there are pros and cons to any decision. But for me, the Leaf SV Plus is still the best choice. Being from England our family visited relatives in Switzerland. Far more than this 200 mile range. BUT in the (obviously) "good old days" , all cars had a spare tyre - so you just changed a punctured wheel on the spot - and continued your journey. What do people do WITHOUT a spare tyre?
    I would therefore do without THE CARS OF TODAY, which are therefore not fit for the ROAD. In a way, like the Titanic - which was not fit for the SEA, when it got a HOLE, not a burst tyre!
