  • The Glock 19 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9×19mm by Austrian gun manufaturer Glock introduced in 1988. It is the compact version of the Glock 17, Glock's first model. The magazine holds 15 rounds, but magazines of the Glock 17 with 17 rounds can be used.
The Glock 19 is a striker fired pistol without external safeties, but it features three internal safeties. All three safeties disengage sequentially as the trigger is pulled and re-engage when the trigger is released. The trigger safety is incorporated into the trigger in the form of a lever. To fire the pistol, the trigger safety and the trigger must be pressed at the same time. The second safety, the firing pin safety, blocks the firing pin from moving forward in the ready-to-fire condition. As the trigger is pulled rearward, the trigger bar pushes the firing pin safety up and frees the firing pin channel. The drop safety involves the trigger bar, which rests on the safety ramp within the trigger mechanism housing. The trigger bar engages the rear portion of the firing pin and prevents the firing pin from moving forward. As the trigger is pulled rearward the trigger bar lowers down the safety ramp and allows the release of the firing pin. After firing, the trigger bar moves upward and re-engages the firing pin.

Amazing how such a simple design can have so much going on that you want to keep watching different parts of this animation over and over.

Great cutaway animation, but add some words to describe the 3 safeties.

This shows a consistent ejection pattern, which Glock's do not have. If they want to make this accurate, show the ejection erratic and hitting you in the forehead 40% of the time

My gen 3 Glocks have never ejected to my forehead. Not even when I swap the barrel on my Glock 27 to 9mm. My HK USP .45 acp was a different story. That sucker drew blood. 😂

@@3DGunner no worries. You're right about Glock having 3 safties but said Glock has no external safeties but 3 internal safeties. Glock does have 1 external safety at the trigger and 2 internal safeties.

@@charrelson614 your assertion "Glock does have 1 external safety at the trigger and 2 internal safeties" is factually incorrect....all three Glock safeties are considered "internal" as the trigger safety is built in and requires no external manipulation.....it is a part of the triggering process that doesn't require a separate action on the shooters part.
