SCP-507 - Reluctant Dimension Hopper (Complete) : Safe : Extradimensional SCP
Item#: SCP-507
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-507 is allowed free roam of the facility, obviously barring anything that would breach security or safety protocols. Any time SCP-507 leaves its private quarters it must be accompanied by an agent, mostly at this point to make sure that it does not “shift” without the facility’s knowledge. SCP-507 should not be physically touched if there have been more than two weeks since its last “shift”; the risks inherent in disobeying this protocol make the action its own scp-507 , should the issue of disciplinary measures ever come up.

@@Marlyjade it was a strain of toxoplasmosis gondi which is a real thing cats have that also infects large numbers of humans. (Why pregnant women shouldn't change kitty litter as it can hurt a fetus.)
But the more disturbing thing and probable cause for decontamination was that it was an urban environment with no humans. Just cats. The implication being perhaps that strain was responsible for a plague.

@@literallygrass1328 I interpreted the female entity that he encountered as a malevolent being: a wolf in sheep's clothing if you will. Maybe she would have killed him or done something far worse. Or maybe she really was innocent, but if he had kissed her, he would've experienced such a high level of pleasure and ecstasy that he would've gone into a catatonic state and truly nothing in his life would even come close to comparing to it again.
Maybe that's not what the author intended, but if it is, then he's a genius.

I like how there's connected lore with other SCP's, like with the dimension where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by his Vice President, which was also mentioned by a person in the Infinite Ikea SCP.
There’s also the Dr. King reference as in another Scp vid Dr. King kept getting apple seeds from the vending machine scp.
Theres also potentially a tie-in to "The Radiant Son"; the contained miniature sun that vowed to 'burn with his fathers rage' (i cant remember the full quote but it basically threatened life on earth)
And MAYBE, theres a universe connected to the Here Be Dragons box from the world where he meets the dwarves and takes a pic of the dragon, with the "child in the pointed hat"
It makes me wonder if hes ever traveled to "Un-London" or the other various pocket worlds like the endless ikea or 106(Radical Larry's) pocket world of mold and rot?
I'm surprised they denied him a camera at 1st, if anything you'd think they'd have him wear multiple cameras to record his experiences.

I'm pretty sure that having a camera on an SCP that could end anywhere is a risk for the secrecy of the foundation, but later they have to make the sacrifice for knowledge and give him the recorder.

I think many people would try to do the sme, once you get back, you know you will never taste or see or hear anything as perfect as everything you felt there....most would probably get depression for a while after that....in a weird way, it might be the worst place he shifted to x)
he did literally went to heaven, as in Kingdom of God kind of heaven but the angels and God's presence were so intense it almost blinded and destroyed him...

I'm pretty sure the reaso n they denied that was due to the frequency of his teleportation... he was a reliable level 3, yes, but right up until he shifted back. The other foundation didn't know how frequently he shifts. This one does, and would rather not have someone with an unpredictable schedule past two weeks.

I think he eventually becomes some kind of official personnel, because he is responsible for saving part of the research team exploring SCP-5775 by volunteering to stay behind while the rest of the team escaped, knowing he would eventually warp back to earth.
The author of this article is a freaking genius. They found a way to essentially be able to come up with as many worlds as they please, and write exactly how much they want. I'm honestly kind of jealous because writing this sounds fun as hell.

I always did get confused about that... a camera would be useful as all hell to investigate other dimensions he suddenly hops into, which will allow a wider range of research for the foundation... imagine if he managed to find something like 682 in another dimension... they would finally be able to properly figure out that damn thing is.

Even though the story isn't written from the character's point of view, you still get attached to him, and feel for him. It's a really well-written piece of work, one of the best SCPs I've heard so far.

I was surprised he didn't request a military ready meal packet to be in a bag with him at all times. He might end up somewhere that doesn't have any food or water. I would want to carry emergency rations and water with me, and it is not like it would possess any danger to foundation.

The end of the interview between SCP-507-A and SCP-507-B was both terrifying and a satisfying twist by the author. The "Ah bugger" upon realizing that the foundation knew that the one who stayed was the imposter, followed by the foundation stating that severed pieces still shift implies that they mutilated SCP-507-A, and that the two SCP-507's were right to not tell the foundation which one was not from this reality.

This guy slowly becomes the best-equipped Foundation asset and most experienced in exploring other dimensions over the course of his stay. If he had control over his ability, he'd be on the Foundation's A-team and probably have his own MTF.
This is one of my absolute favorites. He’s the epitome of “I guess this is my life now” lol, he takes it so well.

I'm still confused how he takes all that gear, does he basically start channeling a shift or does it happen instantly without warning? he can't be carrying that much gear on him 24/7
@@rubiolo1019 they state he has it on him at all times and shifts randomly basically this mean for about two weeks he is free but after he doesn’t do anything or go anywhere without his bag and probably has some kind of tether so when he is sleeping or taking a shower it will go with him. I do love how they pretty much call him week and a bit useless but dude be carrying around something like 50 pounds on him 24/7.

This is really interesting! Gotta also give SCP-507 credit for having actual common sense (eg: waiting out shifts rather than trying to fight in the dark) and being competent enough to reach Level 3 elsewhere. Also, he's able to endure a lot. Still want to give the poor guy a hug of course D:
I love that too. He knows when things are too much for him and GTFO, he frequently asks for equipment that might help him on future shifts, he doesn't get himself into unnecessary trouble, he claims amnesia when arrested in a shift and uses that to sidestep interrogation and get information on that world. I love that he's not an idiot and most trouble he does get into don't ever seem to be his fault. I too have to feel bad for the guy. Must be stressful to never know if you will wake up in a world that is trying to kill you.

I swear all the euclid and safe entries are 95% of the time way more elaborate and interesting, even potentially dangerous than keter entries

I find that very appreciable. It allows me to relate to the foundation staff, having broken the barrier that is their professional conduct. That phrase is comforting to hear coming from a typically straight and unfeeling collective, to a less professional individual, such as myself.

A limb in a scientific sense means something different compared to if you were to define it strictly to humans.
