My dad did not loose his hair when he had chemo and despite the doctors warning that due to his age of 84 at the time and given 6 weeks to live if he did not do the chemo, he came through it well and his blood count is great now (he has Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)). Everyone’s story is different and Jess I hope your chemo goes as good as my dad’s did

I have seen a tutorial on how to trace your eyebrows before Chemo begins to affect hair. They traced them on clear plastic type sheet and marked them left and right. Used a sharp blade to cut them out leaving a stencil to trace/fill in your natural brows if needed. That way you feel more like yourself. I am praying for peace as you go on this journey. My mother did this 20 years ago. She is healthy and strong at 85 1/2.

This is a great idea. I would use the plastic from a Ziploc freezer bag because it is much stronger than the plastic in rolls of food wrap.

I Dk much about this - but I have lots of friends who’ve micro bladed or tattooed their eyebrows on (had it done by a professional). Not necessarily because of losing hair - but because they had trouble w their brows and liked the no maintenance
and they look really nice (the brows). this isn’t something I had heard of prior to maybe 5/6 years ago. There are so many new options for all kids of things. Changing every day. Regardless; you exude grace and beauty. We are pulling for you. â˜źïž

Practice visualizing the chemo mopping up the errant cancer.
I suggest ice mittens and booties for hands and feet to help preserve nails and potentially reduce neuropathy. By the same token ice cubes during the first part of infusions may help the taste buds. Remember that while your taster may be off, that sticking with food you know you like will sustain you.
Enjoy your naps and rest while you can.
You will be in survival mode then striving. Eventually thriving.
      You got this!

Some chemo doesn't make you lose your hair. Just be sure to keep track of how you feel & if any side effects, how long after the treatment it happened. Be real specific cuz they can adjust your pre & post meds. A dear friend of mine redecorated a room in her house during chemo. You can do this, Warrior Girl!! This may seem odd but after my first chemo treatment I started losing so much hair everywhere. I cried when I washed my hair because there was a lot of loss. I cried when I was eating and my hair was falling into my food. I finally had my husband shave my hair. Funny I had no more tears. Never wore a wig, too hot and itchy. Wore scarves on my head while I was out and about. Found great scarves for hair loss on line. It grew back, curly but being 48 i had more grey. I did not care because my hair grew back. What ever happens for you, remember it is temporary. Much love.

My 4 yr. old grandson was diagnosed with standard risk leukemia the end of this past November. His hair was thin through the first 5 months of his treatments because his dosage was small compared to high risk leukemia patients. He was doing great until he hit a phase that had one nasty drug in it. His hair started falling out so his daddy shaved his head. That was just over a month ago. He made it through that awful 50 day phase. He's now moved onto his 2.5 yr. maintenance phase which will be small doses of chemo drugs. You just have to be ready to roll with the flow and take it ONE DAY AT A TIME. I pray that your days are more highs then lows.

I helped my mother make a custom eyebrow stencil of her own brows. She was grateful she had that later. She felt that losing her eyebrows was worse than losing her other hair, or even her eyelashes. Thankfully, not everyone loses their hair, or their facial hair. You got this!

My sister actually survived stage four pancreatic cancer. They told her after her third chemo session they were giving her the harshest dose of chemo they ever gave anyone and her hair got thinner but she never lost all of it. She went in every other week and received chemo continuously from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. they allowed me to sit with her each time. She also received some medication from a pump they had her wear daily but I don’t remember what was in the pump. So each person is different and she would feel sick to her stomach but didn’t throw up. They also told her to eat what ever she could stomach it didn’t matter what it was. She always had a good week when she didn’t receive the chemo and a rough week when she had to go in for treatment. She actually thought the 26 days of straight radiation after the chemo was harder for her than the chemo. She had to have major surgery to remove the tumor and any organ it touched they removed. So half her stomach, intestines, pancreas, kidney, and diaphragm. The head surgeon doesn’t know how she has survived but he believes her attitude and will to survive definitely helped. They had given her six months at best to live after her initial diagnosis. She takes no medication and is five years cancer free. So hang in there and try to stay as positive as you can.

Thinking of you as you start this phase of your treatment
as a Stage 3a Triple + Breast cancer survivor from 2106, I went thru 6 rounds of chemo, 28 rounds of radiation and a year of a targeted therapy. Also went thru a few surgeries as well.. Best advice I can give: be patient with yourself. Give yourself grace as you navigate chemo. It’s a hard road to go thru but you can and will persevere ❀. I hear you hate water.. the best thing you can do during infusion is to drink water. It really helped cut down the nausea for me. Yes, they give good meds for nausea but if you can drink some ice water that will help a lot! As far as foods go, my tastebuds changed a lot. What I thought was yummy pre chemo, I couldn’t stomach. I think it’s great you have some snacks ready, just be open to the idea that they may not work. Basic saltine crackers were my friend as well as the Arrowroot cookies you showed. If you like smoothies and can stand to drink them, you can pack a lot of great fruits and protein in there as well. Do what makes you feel better ❀ Remember, this will all be in your rear view window soon enough
and when you feel like garbage and are not sure you can do more, remember, you will never do that day again! That awful day is gone and you have tomorrow to embrace.

To me you are a strong and brave woman and oh so positive in all that you are going through. I am 60 years young and this Friday 6/2/23 I will be going in to have a total hysterectomy. With some test that I had. I may have ovarian cancer. I have cyst on my left ovary. I will find out on Friday if it is cancerous or not. I live in New Jersey and I’m going to the number 2 cancer hospital in the country. Memorial Sloan Kettering. Number 1 is in Texas. To far away. 😊 Watching your vlogs has given me the encouragement I need to go through this. Even though I have complete faith that God will get me through all of this plus the strength to endure whatever comes my way. Thank you for always taking us along on your journey. I so appreciate you. I will continue to pray for you and your family. I love your moms channel. I watch that every time she post. I have a sister who lives in Markham, Ontario. For what it’s worth, as an alternative to Gatorade, we’ve been ordering Biosteel and really liking it. It’s less expensive, good hydration, not as salty tasting and feels a little easier on the system (our family consensus) with good flavors. My husband prefers having flavors too. I know when my father was on chemo (for the better part of 7 years) his tastes changed. The family plan was just to roll with it and make whatever he could stomach at the time. It led to some interesting meals. I’m praying that this treatment is effective and bearable for you. You seem to be handling this scary situation with a remarkable amount of equanimity and grace. It makes sense that you look better than you feel bc you look gorgeous! Of course you’re nervous. You’d be a dope if you weren’t, not bc it’s going to be awful necessarily, but bc it’s not an average activity to go for chemo. Any way you slice it, you’re rocking the challenges you’ve faced!❀ Sending you, Mama, Dad and Bro love. You’re baby is the sweetest, cutest little girl!đŸ¶ Thanks for sharing the pretty jewelry and sale and code! Awesome.đŸ›ïž I’ll be thinking of you and watching for updates as you proceed. Just keep on keeping on without any pressure on yourself to handle things any particular way. Roll with it as a fluid situation where taking time thinking about yourself is the order of the day. Whatever gets you through is what your mama and the rest of us want for you. Think about what foods you like at the moment, what you feel like reading or watching, if you just want to veg with Piper and not do anything - all of it is perfect. If you get hot from chemo, there are great handheld fans on Amazon. For a shelf or table or bed, I like the Honeywell 3 speed. I lay it with its stand bent and sitting on edge in front of me on the bed while I sleep. Wet your hands, wrists and dip your feet in cool water for a quick cool off. Wet your hair to stay cooler longer and there are scarves you can wet that stay cool around your neck. You may not even get hot flashes. See you soon, Jess. Bye Piper!

Chemo is not something you actually plan for. You just have to wing-it. You have lots of books to help keep your brain centered. Lots of snacks. Good choices by the way. My sister had chemo, she did not lose her hair. the texture changed from curly to almost straight. otherwise no changes. It is ok to be nervous. You got this! You have an amazing family and friends to be with you. You also have Piper! See you in the next one.

    Hey Jess,
So proud of you... A little bit of advice regarding drinking (or not drinking water), iced tea is a really good alternative. I am a water snob and I don't like water because I taste all the minerals, metals and "chemicals" in purified waters and there's no way I am drinking tap water. But, ice tea has healthy tannins in it and you can do caffienated or decaf options. There are so many wonderful teas from throughout the world and there are teas for everyone's preferences.
Another thing to help you stay hydrated during the summer are Popsicles, Italian ices and snowcones. Snowcones/Hawaiian Shave ice are especially fun because it's like eating snow - although with the vast amount of snow you get, it might not be as much fun as it is for us in Texas.
Thank you for sharing your new jewelry with us. I also love ear huggers. Your pearls are especially adirable. I have their gold huggers with stunning Swarovski dangles reminiscent of the pearl drops. I am going to use your code. Well, i know you have a wealth of comments to read, as well as soooo many books. I was wondering if you would consider starting an online book club vlog that we, who still love the feel of the heft of the old fashioned reading material, could maybe share our thoughts on specific tomes. You have some awesome titles to read.
One more thing, *IF* you do have a reaction and you start to lose your hair, what would you think of those who stand in solidarity with you doing something fun with our hair, such as getting a nice buzz cut and letting the cosmotoligist shave things like flowers or the corresponding cancer ribbon in our short manes? I am 62 but i think it would be an awesome thing to do.
Okay Kiddo, praying for you and sending powerful healing thoughts your way. â€đŸ€đŸ©”đŸ’šđŸ’ŻđŸ’«đŸ©·đŸ’œđŸ’‡đŸ§‹đŸ“š

Tips for chemo. Gin Gin drops or Gin Gin chews, and yes those awesome snacks. Bland food. spices upset the stomach. Plastic silverware. With metal silverware you get a metalic taste. My husband who went through chemo said, if you feel active, be active but don't over do it. Rest. Remember you are only human and the only thing you have to worry about is nothing. Also hair it'll grow back. They have all kinds of cool things to cover your head and not just wigs. You have people praying for you, there for you, and a cute little fur baby. You got this!!!

Applesauce was a staple of mine during chemo. It was one of those foods that didn't change taste for me. I also craved tomato based soups, like tortellini or minestrone. Wishing you the very best. It's not an easy journey. Give yourself grace. It's okay to not be okay.

You've definitely got this Jess..my sister used the ice cap to stop the hair loss.. she did loose some but not all
.it went thinner and sparce in other areas .. it did make her feel awkward still and rather than wear scarves around her head she got a wig..you get a voucher over here 🇬🇧 and to be honest it gave her confidence..we went out with a group of her workmates and because the wig was so like her normal style cut and highlights nobody had a clue it was a wig !! So much so at the end of the night she told them all and they were sat there open mouthedđŸ˜Č.. its up to the individual we all deal with things differently..its great you are getting organised but don't beat yourself up if all you want to do is sleep and not vlog..! We are here for you whenever you are up to doing one..don't feel any pressure..good luck with the chemo..hugs and prayers coming your way for the whole Brock Pack..đŸ‡ŹđŸ‡§đŸ’žâœïžđŸ™đŸ‘đŸ‘đŸ‘đŸŸđŸŸđŸŸđŸ•đŸ•đŸ•đŸ‡šđŸ‡Š

Hi jess! As someone with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, i have some tips for getting through the next few months (feel free to take or leave them, these are just some things that really helped me):
    1. Dried fruit is a great snack to make you feel healthier when all you can eat are snacks (the ones you got were great, dont get me wrong, i just got bored of only chocolate and carbs quickly)
    2. Having a second set of bedsheets so you dont have to wash and put them back on the same day, splitting up tasks like this over different days can be super helpful and make them more manageable
    3. Be kind to yourself, do only one major task a day, leave room for rest days, let yourself go to bed early if you need it, dont beat yourself up if what you're able to do changes from one day to the next
    4. Try not to lounge in your bed, it'll be super tempting but even moving from your bed to the sofa will be worth it to keep your bed as a sleep space, plus a change of scenery can be good too
Hope these help you and anyone else reading 😊 you can do this, we are all supporting you and wishing you the best ❀

Jess I hope you don't mind me asking this but is was one of my concerns when I had chemo in 2012. My Oncologist was great & worked well with my surgeon. I knew nothing so relied on them about everything. They suggested due to the amount of treatments I was going to need that they put a "port" in my shoulder so that I would not need to be given IV's at every treatment. The treatment was given through the port daily. I do not do well with needles or IV's so this was a lifesaver. They put it in at the outpatient office at my Dr's office before treatments started so it had time to heal. I appreciate that. One other difference is that some treatments need a double port but they have them & your Dr just needs that info before selecting your port.
You can do this. So many even little kids go through this. You can be nervous but don't fear it because fear is of Satan & God will take care of you. Thrust Him!

I had strong chemo treatments, beforehand i was very worried about nausea, so i mentioned it to my medical team and they gave me all of the anti nausea medication available, and i never threw up once, i was just really tired. If you start to lose your hair i highly recommend a 'softie cap', its a sort of soft double layer beanie, the double layer stops your hair from hurting (hairs that have let go but are still in the folicle and kind of sharp makes it hard to sleep). Also i found it much easier to drink sparkling drinks, so i got a soda stream machine and fizz my own water and add flavour. hope you have a good team and things go ok for you xx

Jess, I went through chemo and lost my hair. My cancer center gave me anti-nausea meds with the chemo and then I also got a large bag of IV anti nausea meds that lasted five days. I also had pills if I needed them. I did not have any nausea, thankfully. I bought little tam type hats to go over my bald head. It's scary but you can do this. You have been through a lot already. I did lose my appetite but used a lot of fruit shakes. Metal tableware affected my taste so I used plastic. Best wishes and only good vibes for you as you begin this phase of your journey

Oh my goodness, girl, you put on pillowcases exactly how I did them until someone taught me differently when I was a grown woman. Here you go
Turn the pillowcase inside out. Put your hands all the way inside the pillowcase, so that your fingers are at the corners. Then place the corners, where your fingers are, at the shorter side corners of the pillow. Then simply roll the pillowcase over the pillow. This helps particularly well when you have a large pillow that fits very snugly in the pillowcase, so that it’s difficult to shake into the pillowcase. Love and prayers!
