Oh man that’s sick!! I love that canopy! I’m debating on building a 500-550 I have two 450s now. But they are the older v2 FBL one is DFC. I can’t wait to see more.
Thank you! I love the canopy too! I would definitely build a 550 over a 500. I love my 500 but the 550 is a great all around size heli and flys amazing!
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Sounds good. I had one Align cyclic servo fail in flight, so I replaced all the cyclic servos with JX HV7032MG servos. I can highly recommend these servos. One ball link split in that crash, which I replaced at the time. After building a 550X, it struck me to use the same linkage rods and then I saw your video, just by chance (youtube suggested it 🙂, as I'm subscribed to your channel 🙂).
FYI, I managed to fit the 550X/700X turnbuckles without cutting them down or adding any thread. They easily screwed down to the 10mm shorter length used in the 550DFC and look very tidy with no thread showing. Luckily I have a 550X and could see the amount of thread showing on the 550X and the depth of the hole in the ball link was enough. Back in the air again and now waiting for the metal servo arms. I went with the 700 21mm 25T Steam fragile arms.
I bought align 450lp dominator 6s kit that I will be building tomorrow, I like how you route all your wires internally, I will try to do that. Nice 😊 rebuild thank you for all your tips and tricks 🤝
Awesome! You will love that heli! If you look under my 470 build review video I go into detail about how I run the wires. I cut them and short and all of them so they are direct runs right into the FBL. I run the ESC wire in between the motor and frame and around the bearing blocks. I also explain it in the 470LP rebuild video. I hope that helps you! Thanks for watching!
Yes it is, they did a lot of changes and made everything bigger and stronger. I like it much better. It’s a strong heli too! My buddy slammed his 470 in and it was under $50 and back flying. Held up really well.
You make nice videos, I like the way ypu explain things, pls make videos with some moves like how you'd pratice motor coordination and muscle memory, just chashed my 230s
Thank you for watching! Glad my videos help. I plan on making some videos on that, just gotta figure out how to record and edit that. All new to me lol
Man i know this is over a year old but i crashed my 550L and freaking PARTS.... Is there a list ANYWHERE that shows interchangeable parts ? I stretched it to a 600 because there are more parts for 600. I got lucky ordering parts and it worked except for the grip arms that connect to swash. About 2 mil difference and caused me a headache!!
@@brandontodd8603 pull the boom and out of the boom block then there will 4 or 6 screws per side (can’t remember lol) the whole boom block will pull out the back (you will have to pull the frame sides apart slightly) then once the boom block is out the boom block will split in two half’s. Can be difficult but does come apart. Then make sure when you put the new gears in you check for backlash. 99.9% it’s perfect but every so often you will need to shim the gear for a tighter mesh.

Thanks for this! I'm doing the push rod/ball joint upgrade to the 550DFC and this was very helpful...
@@beenflying1 I’m glad this video was helpful! Best upgrade I ever did to this heli! So much stronger and never a problem again.

The 470 is actually an updated version from the 450l , sure thing will be watching that vid before I start my build

Got my heli done!! Allllriiiiiggghhhtttt!!!
Lmao! Yep! Soon enough! Once I get a 550X it’s yours!

Nice video and upgrade :)
Thank you! Upgrading the servo links is big improvement!
Looks awesome 😁
Thank you, just wait for the new canopy! It should look even better lol
😎👍
Thank you!

How are the drive gears for the torque tube replaced inside the heli? Do the frames have to be split?
You have to remove the boom block. The whole boom block will pull out and then you can separate the block in half to replace the gears.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 love you man! Thank you very much. So the boom block and everything will come out and then I separate the torque tube after?

What pitch die did you use
I ran +/- 13.5 degrees
