They all are focused solely on nonsensical things and not in developing and shaping one's appetite for learning and getting a true feel for whatever subject one studies...
This has to change! Students don't realise how wonderful and immensely beautiful the world of knowledge really is: they're never shown the tremendous beauty, the wonders that they themselves wanted to see as a child...
First, that curiosity is killed brutally, and then students are made to accept a pile of expectations that is enormous, yet what is done is also not anywhere close to what it should be for that either.
The focus has to shift from MARKS, COMPETITION, JOB and PROFIT-based learning to
      REAL LEARNING....
Schools and colleges must be made interesting and not burdensome...............

I believe the major drawback of the Indian education system is that it instills the aspiring youth to be a part of the rat race. I did my first post grad degree from an above average b school in India and I believe the whole curriculum was outdated and the proffesors were patronising and not willing to address key changes relevant to the current context. Then after being a part of the rat race, I decided that I had enough and went on to pursue a second post grad degree from a top 40 University {University of Queens land). The contrast in the level of education was evident. The curriculum was not only current but futuristic. The proffesors were more open to ideas, the idea of being in charge of one's own career development and finding ones own niche was instilled from the very first day. I believe this is the biggest gulf in the education systems between Indian and foreign institutions.

instead of surveying history of education, Indian H.R.D authority should go and look at the schools and universities and should ask to a student that weather he or she is really happy by whatever he or she is studying. educating a mind without educating a heart is not an education at all.
literacy rate is just a number, if your kid is going to a school or university he is educated but what about those skills.
let me take an example of engineering students here in India, they are studying engineering but if you give them a generator or a motor or a engine they ain't able to assemble it. but if you give it to a technician or a repair shop guy he will assemble it.
so what about those bucks you parents paid for????? what about your kids skills. our education system is full of knowledge but lack of skills. A school or an university should be made for raising the lost talent of a student not for mugging up the things. if you universities and schools teach a student according to their talent automatically our country will bloom for a better future and happy generation.

Everybody would agree with me when I say indians are hardworking I prefer studying abroad more benificial for the open category students and nowadays everybody wants a name lika a distinction" like so as so has studied from that country" that boosts up the confidence and raises the person and also to stay in a different CULTURE is wonderful experience for me, I would say I would prefer first the culturally disticted place than going for a nearby or a prestigious institution in a known place.

I think education in India is not so good in comparison to foreign countries. In Indian School only provide the bookish knowledge not given the practical knowledge about the subject so at the time of job the student faces lots of problem. Student get the higher qualifications but not get the higher knowledge....so I don't prefer Indian education.

Its not the Education System, it's the people.
The Indian Education System is literally free, you can download the NCERT books (ncert.nic.in/textbook/textbook.htm), and read it on a phone
The Affordable Access to internet over the last few years has made it possible for anyone with a phone to be able to study and pursue any subject. And nowadays nearly everyone has a phone.
The people on the other hand would Use internet for "other purpose".
Any education system gives you the basics, researching and curiosity is ones own.

    QUALITY;FAST AND ECONOMICAL,EDUCATION.
Education in school and college, and literacy rate is very important in children of all countries. Education makes us to have, a progressive career and become financially independent. All countries are doing good in educating children. But need to improve further for quality; fast and economical, education.
We have to change the present system of school education of 1st to 12th standard (grade), to new 1st to 6th standard (grade). That is, only 6 years of school. In this new 1st to 6th standard (grade) of school education. The syllabus should cover general education of nearly all field.
Then 3years of graduation,2years of masters & 4years of PhD. This way, one can complete graduation at the age of 13years and start doing job. Do research & development. Children from economically weaker section could also get education. Education allows student to understand the laws and rules that govern the physical world.

My opinion, regarding our educational system which are much lesser than the foreign educational system.we should have to change our systems first because if you wanted to be change seriously it shoud be started from the bottom, our current system are not providing a thinking skill to student, moreover students cant develop their skill, instead of at the very earlier stages we penetrate the students that are ias, ips, doctor these are the only pfoession are very good bettee than any other professio, if we want a very efficient student in all asepect of sectores should have to be let them to think very widely and openly. So we our systems should have to change like this, rather then study and gets marks and pass in firat class those concept must ve changed. Unfortunately students are more focusing on this right now..

According to me both are best at their respective places. But,as I am an integral part of our Indian Education system so, I would like to suggest some changes in it. System should emphasize more on practical studies rather in theoretical parts. Children should learn some ethics morals and values as our country is considered as a holy place. Our children should meant to learn our glorious history instead of focusing about British and Mughal empires. We should enhance their imagination, creative , exploring and thinking skills. There should be overall development.
