- Cindy Mizelle's first (and only) solo artist 12" single from the soundtrack to the 1984 movie "Beat Street". Since then she has evolved into one of the most in-demand singers of popular music as a featured vocalist, and released a self-titled album in 1994.

1984 was such a magical year for music and movies all i have to say is you had to be there to live it and if you grew up in the 80's like i did you grew up in the best decade EVER
Yes indeed! I am a witness! That was my freshmen year of high-school, and we were in full affect! Lol my 80s slang! 😂😂😂
Even Purple Rain?
Who can tell me who was the original drummer recording this song ? The groove sounds like Jonathan "Sugar" Moffett, drummer of the king of pop music, MJ Thanks in advance.
Remember when this came out. Still appreciate this song. I'm 52 years old. Good old days 😢
Came out 40yrs ago. 😮👍

You can't help but smile and remember the good times when tunes like this come on
I can feel the smell of fresh can spray.
Never in my life have I ever heard this get played on the radio. I miss this era though. The late 70s and early 80s NYC had beautiful art on the trains
@@Underhills Beat Street Breakdown !!
I was the first in my grade school to have the same white leather pumas with the fat red laces 👍
Hell yeah. And his expression at the end says it all!
A Hidden Gem!!!!
One of the GREATEST SONGS EVER sung from the 80s!!!

This literally almost brings me to tears 🥹.. so many memories growing up in this era.. being around it all! Shelltoes with the fat laces, karate movies on channel 5 after Spider-Man and his amazing friends.. those who didn’t live through it or experience will NEVER understand.. what a time to be alive! ❤

GREAT editing on this Masterpiece.... Back when movies were GOOD and had REAL soundtracks
my most all time favourtie movie ever, this movie was the bomb and still is, cant beat the old skool stuff
This song just popped in my head out of nowhere
Listening to this in 2021 and feel sorry for the younger generation not experiencing this
My favorite movie, and the movie I’ve watched the most, “ Beat Street!”
I listen to this every time I'm about to go on a first date. Always so psyched haha
God, I love this song! It has to be one of my very favorites from the Beat Street soundtrack. This song is a flawless and perfect combination of hip-hop, disco, funk, and R&B; the bass-line is killer, the drum beats just snap, the percussion just draws it along, the smooth strings and funky horns and Ms. Mizelles wonderful vocals. There isn't a down moment in the whole song. Simply perfection.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. If I could hit the like button 1000 times I would
2 teenager's in a cinema in Kilmarnock Scotland. Monday night. Only 2 people in . What an experience. We practice all night long to be like our heroes. ROCK STEADY CREW.
To those who are around 30 and under who are watching this video....... I really feel sorry for you! You have missed a great time in history! The rap music you are listening to today blows! All the songs sound the same! Be glad that you have CZcams so you can hear great hip hop from the 80's and 90's!
Oh man you have no idea how many times i have heard that.. we all miss those days.
travelled to NYC because of this movie magic moment
Who still listening in 2024, 2025, 2026, 2027...? While playing this jam, I just showed my children that I can still windmill at 48 years of age.
🎧🔊💘🔥💭 #BBoyStyle #BOSS
😂Skills still up huh? True BBoy I have to follow you up and say who's watching the 2023?
Still at 2024. And going.

oh hell yeh,,,no guns,,no fights,,no problems just breaking and dancing,,,thats how you battle,,,
Oh, there were fights, and mostly stabbings. The BX was notorious! There were never any "good ole days" with Hip Hop. Why many "think" it was a good time, because most likely they were kids. Most people miss their childhood, they didn't have the same responsibility as an adult.
Such a FEEL GREAT song 💯🙌🏿👌🏿❤
She should have had a big solo career! What a vocalist
i dont think times will ever be that good again - ever
This is my shit!!!! The only reason I viewed beat street so much!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
..i saw this movie20 times..no kiddin'..this joint makes me wanna go out and dance..
since 1984 I always loved the voice of this woman in this song
What a time to be young!!
Underrated!!!!
My favorite song off this soundtrack, I miss the 80's so, so much one of the best decades.
Perfect song for that era, being young and having fun in the clubs!
I love this song!
This movie had some of the best dance cinematography ever, the battle scene in the subway is shot so well and the roxy battle is still one of the greatest dance scenes ever caught on celluloid (next to hellzapoppin of course). These scenes were shot with a sense of epicness (if thats a word)...
This is my all time fvorite movie Beat Street breakdown :)
Nostalgia is the perfect word to describe what I feel listening to this.
That smile at the end of the video says it all. 3:42 :)
Oh yeah, that was the night. ;)
I've been there before, and had that same smile on my face. Ain't love grand?
This is a great song I love it just as much as the movie beat street , there is no better hip hop movie out there I went to see it at the theater in east Los Angeles when I was about 14 years old at the golden gate theater .
Beat Street on the East Coast and Breaking movie on the West Coast. Epic time to be young teen. No phones , no fights just break out the cardboard
I consider myself to be very blessed to have been in high school during the 80's back when Dancing was KING!!! Such wonderful memories of that priceless era!! I'm happy to say I'm still dancing today and loving every minute of it!!!
Nothing today compares to the 80's
Absolutely nothing! I was just reminiscing today about this very thing!
Remember the 80's like it was yesterday, if I picked a decade to live in, the 80's would be on top of my list.
Me lembra de assistir esse vídeo todas as tardes de domingo no programa Barros de Alencar, nós anos 80
Ahh! I remember how dope this song used to be. It captures that 80's street vibe nicely!
this is the perfect type of song to get your night started!!!
this song makes me Happy!! damn when we were young .. growing up in our time .. boy oh boy they don't know the fun they missed! 80's
It's funny how if I had a choice to visit any period in time, I'd choose the 80's over times like the 1700's, 1800's, or any other period, solely because of how much fun people look like they had back then. Epic times.
Makes me want to throw down the cardboard!
Loved Lee's footwork on the tube. These were great times. Miss them. Always have the memories I guess.
this movie is the ultimate breakdance movie and breakers from this generation who have not seen it are bited :_). the songs are classic.
gonna be dancing all night long gonna be singing till the night is gone...
Great song, Great Movie, Great Upload!

Kudos. Me too. The Christmas vibe is awesome.
Word. Lets get married and watch it every weekend
You are looking very young. Most of the younger people don´t like this style. Good taste in music...
I lived this life sooo many years ago, loved every minute of it!
My favorite movie
My Old School Hip Hop R&B.
Gosh I love this soooooo much. And I've always loved this song. My favorite scene was when they were breakdance fighting in the subway
DAMN STR8 THIS IS THEE DECADE...ONE OF THE BETTER ONES!!!!!
Awesome times!!!
Classic music 🎶🎶🎶🎶 every time I hear this just makes me wanna dance 🎶🎶💯💯💯✊🏿
oh man, hearing this makes me want to watch the movie all over again.. "" if art is a crime may god forgive me.. "" Taggers Creed
One of the best dance tracks of all time!!!
Do You FEEL the ENERGY in this vid? DAMN! Thanks a MILL 4 this Fstyl
I love this movie! This song really captures the innocence of those days.
And Brenda K Starr was my crush!!
This movie ROCKED. Way down in Aotearoa... Village Breakers FOREVA!
Have LOVED this "Beat Street" single ever since I bought the 12" way back in 1984 (30 yrs ago!) - Cindy Mizelle's vocal is one of the BEST of the 80s - if you like more Cindy, check out her overlooked/underrated vocals on ATTITUDE's 1983 "Pump the Nation" LP produced/written by THE SYSTEM!! Cindy released a solo album in the 90s, and it was OK< but nothing like her stellar 80s work!
Great song, and great movie. Love Beat Street, one of my all time favorite movies..
word... i think its an instant classic!
This takes me back to those days
Tha soundtrack 2 this movie was so 💣💣💣 that it had 2 albums worth of good muzik. No other movie had 2 albums for the soundtrack but this 1..👍🏿👍🏿
Damn damn damn the feeling you get when you watch this is amazing.
I was dancing while leaving the city arcades to this track. The world was my oyster.
I've only seen this movie bout 1000x
This was one of THE best Music years ever, and best of all this is the year I graduated from High School,Man , I can't believe that was 30 years ago.
Reminiscing in 2020. Oh God I love this song, this video, this soundtrack, this movie! I sure do miss these days.
Love that we started this back in the 80's.
Space Age Renegades represent!!!
Just to make it simply for you homeboy, this is called "Elektro Funk" a HUGE part of the Hip Hop culture of the 80s.
Dope!!!!
Wonderful song ;D
Old school !
I have this on cassette. One of my best memories of being a dancer in the 80's. Thanks for loading!
One of best movie set in New York!!!

Love this Cut and this movie I'm from Philly but this movie right here made everyone of me and my boys wish we was from NYC at this time. We knew NYC was the place to be all because of this flick right here
You still smokin' on the go go scene?
When New York was the land of trend setters, those days are long gone
Who can tell me who was the original drummer recording this song ? The groove sounds like Jonathan "Sugar" Moffett, drummer of the king of pop music, MJ Thanks in advance.
Old Friday night ritual... Beat Street + 40oz of Old Gold + Puma suit + Fresh pack of D batteries..and I was out!!¡
SLUVA Luv yesss my big brother. Gosh I miss those days
Crazy how they don't sell these Puma suits anymore. They were the flyest!
1984 - Puma suit top, Lee Jeans & name belt, and either suede pumas or shell tops with fat shoe laces that matched your Puma jacket
#Classic
