much needed update for the MMIPrime - connects faster, more responsive, more modern!
Awesome update! The only difference from updating on windows is you don't have to do the extra step through disk utilities on a MacBook. The update really does connect faster and the sound quality sounds upgraded.
P.S. Once upon a time I thought i would never have apple car play or Bluetooth in my 2014 328i. Thanks BimmerTech for the awesome innovation in creating this set up!

Only the scrolling wheel function is not compatibile with CIC or also the med, nav and tel are also NOT compatibile with CIC?
Hey! It is correct that the scrolling wheel function is not compatible with CIC, however, the shortcuts with media, navigation and telephone do work with CIC
I was super excited to see this update but there is a few bugs I'm afraid.
Small one:
Not all iDrive controllers have the same buttons. So "map" in mine opens the contacts.
Big ones:
1. The media opens Apple music, not the one that's currently playing. So if I use Podcast app, even if it's playing at that moment, Apple music opens on button press.
2. The Menu button still doesn't bring you to the Carplay "dashboard" where you see the map, music play and calendar etc. Competitor MMI boxes do this. Disappointed it was missed again as I've mailed this feedback to you folks in the past.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. Here's our statement of 2 bugs you mentioned:
1. This is a thing to change in your iPhone. You can change the default app.
2. We were considering this, but there was very little request for that. Maybe in the future we will decide to change :)

Really great update! Suggestion, can you make it so when you tap 'MENU' it takes you to the iDrive front page?
Pressing "com" on my iDrive does this for some reason.
It's actually been a feature in our MMI since the beginning that holding down the Menu button for a couple seconds will take you back to the iDrive screen. Just tapping it can lead to some accidental iDriving, so holding it will probably stay for a bit!

I tried updating my CIC MMI Prime but only my MCU updated (0000_20.12,1.18 ). My system version remained the same (v3.1.1.8.mmi.c). No updates noticed 🤷🏾♂️

Seems like it isn't upgradable for my 2014 i3 with MMI Prime--followed install instructions but no update occurred; thankfully it all still works! I can't find my car on the BimmerTech website anymore, sigh. Stuck on version 3.1.1.6s from 2021...

Excited to go update my MMI Pro. Any plans to increase the USB output amperage? I use Android Auto/MMI with USB to be compatible with my wireless dashcam, and over long road trips my phone slowly discharges.
Update complete, that went fast and smooth.
Maybe if I could get the thing to update to the last version before this one I'd try it, but it's been a big fail for months...

Yes, completed the steps. Says that it was updated via the software info (it has changed) but the software and interface is unchanged. For my 2014 mmi prime

Trying to do mine but keeps going to red screen and then black screen with nothing showing on the display. I hold back and it reboots the mmi on the old version
I was able to fix by formatting the disk using a mac rather than a windows. The steps in the upgrade manual needs to be refined for windows. In the mac, there's a format with FAT and MBR steps, whereas in windows it's FAT32. So either the answer is to use FAT or it's the MBR.
Second, on upgrading the MCU, I lost control of all my CIC. Can't tell if it's temporary because now I can't get back into MMI
I stepped away for 10 mins and locked my car. When I came back, everything was working again.

@@bimmer-tech Yep, it's all working now. Just wanted to post the steps I went through in case anyone else had issues. When it went from red to black, I never saw the progress bar. It was only after formatting using my mac that I saw the progress bar immediately after initializing the update. So for anyone that's sitting there waiting for more than 20 seconds, it usually means the formatting for the drive is bad.
Will newly ordered boxes come with this software included?
Of course, all new MMI boxes come with 3.2.0 update installed :D
Does the update include BMW F10 MMI unit as well?
It includes only our CarPlay/Android MMI system

gotta go to youtube to find the description of the video. i could not find it anywhere on the bimmertech site, nor did the email bimmertech send out provide this link. found it almost by accident.
THe software check site when. using v3.1.1.8R3.mmipro.e and CPAA_G_2023.04.17 does not return a down load link. No error like if you type something wrong just no link.

@@bimmer-tech No I mean when I go to the link, put in the SW Version and HW Version the Update link to Google Drive does not come up. I tried Google Chrome and Firefox.
