Gregory Peck won an Oscar for his brilliant performance as the Southern lawyer who defends a black man accused of rape in this film version of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. The way in which it captures a time, a place, and above all, a mood, makes this film a masterpiece. The setting is a dusty Southern town during the Depression. A white woman accuses a black man of rape. Though he is obviously innocent, the outcome of his trial is such a foregone conclusion that no lawyer will step forward to defend him - except Peck, the town's most distinguished citizen. His compassionate defense costs him many friendships but earns him the respect and admiration of his two motherless children.

I'm 60 years old and this was the very first book I ever read and the movie was excellent. I live in Kentucky and was lucky enough to score a ticket to see John boy Walton, Richard Thompson play Atticus Finch in the play and he was excellent!
This is an absolutely beautiful film... And i'm only 25 years old.
I am almost 39 and I was required to read this book when I was 14. I kept putting it off the night before we had a test over the first few chapters I started reading it around 8:00 or 9:00 at night and I couldn't put it down I probably read till 2 or 3:00 in the morning. I still remember how much I liked the story but cant remember it. This movie is on my list to watch. It is on tubi.
I’m 15 right now and had to read it for my honors ela class near the end of the school year, and I absolutely loved the book and the movie! my classmates were whining about not wanting to read it, but I was at around chapter 12 when they were on chapter 4, my favorite book of all time!!!

Run don't walk! I just saw it for the first time on a big screen and it's one of the best things I've ever seen.

This Bluray version does look excellent, but the comparison at 0:50 is such bullshit! The original movie does not look that bad, at all. They added some really terrible scratches/bumps/burnt film effect to the image just so they could "wipe" it away to show how good it looks now lol
