    Orcas attack dolphins differently than sharks. They usually chase the dolphins until they get really tired. Then they go in for the kill.

    • @trvth1s
      @trvth1s Před 3 lety

      The same with all cetaceans. All whales (including dolphins) have to surface so orcas can chase them.
      Sharks can dive far deeper and stay submerged so orcas have to overpower them quickly if not the sharks can easily escape.

      @kyleenglot9184 Před 3 lety +1

      Orca are actually quite agile in short spurts. They can reach speeds of up to 50km per hour on a straight line. Their tactic isn't about being faster but planning a successful hunt by preventing an escape route for the quicker prey to escape from. As you can see the orcas were able to herd them into a tight cove which means the dolphins are helpless or would have to take huge risks of escaping. This is how the orcas get the upper hand. You don't need to be faster, just more clever.

    Wow Amazing Video! Wish you would of kept on recording it looked like the Orca's had a small group of dolphins cornered and possibly even caught one towards the end.

    Big dolphins after dolphins.
    Killer whales aren't whales the name comes from their whale killing habit

      Yes, orcas are dolphins, and dolphins are whales (cetaceans), ie infraorder Cetacea. Cetacea is further divided into two parvorders, Odontoceti (toothed whales, or dolphins, including orcas, sperm whales, and narwhals), and Mysticeti, (baleen whales).
      Whether they have teeth or baleen, they are all whales.

      Actually that might work if it was just one or two. Same with lions and their prey. It’s the chaos that ensues from the initial scare that leads to death. That might explain why some lion prey have evolved to be more aggressive in the face of an attack.
