Is it possible to feel happy and sad at the same time?
Yes.
Euforia, anhelo.
Yep, absolutely. I felt the same when my vacations were over and I came back home. Sad, because I had the best time of my life and it was over and happy to return home with my family.
R R It’s called “nostalgia”. And it’s OK, we all feel it. :-)
I think it's called melancholy, that's so awesome!
@@gianjara1877 Exacto ! 🙌
WHY DO I LIKE THIS SONG SO MUCH? I did not like this song. In fact, I did not like Debussy. There was a girl at the piano college I did (UNESP) who lived playing this song and was the teacher's darling. She avoided me. The girl did not like it when I played my Simpsons, Mario, India Jones and my classical music, and left the room when I played piano for the teacher. It was very unpleasant. And I got angry at this song and at Debussy. But a few years ago, I heard this song being played on the Simpsons and the Godfather, and I remembered this girl. Then, I bought a new piano (the one you see in the video and that plays alone) and guess what! My pianola played this song! And it came with a score book and had that song. I put the piano all the time to play alone for me, and every time I played this song, and I started to really like this song. I picked up the book and suddenly, I was playing it. Nowadays it is the music that I like to play. I play it every day. She is perfect to please others, and to do funny things while we play her long notes. That's the real reason I play this song so much.

This piece sounds like an ending of a chapter and a beginning of a new one; a moment of life and death, peace and war, joy and sorrow, and the feeling of becoming whole yet also empty. It's a feeling of both worlds - the feeling of satisfaction yet also wanting more. The achievement of understanding and not comprehending. It's a mystery and also a discovery. Indeed, it's such an exceptional piece which touches the contrasting aspects of humanity.
its just a good night song xD
Couldn't have agreed more and couldn't have described it more astutely. Echoing what you mentioned.
it actuallly sounds in the credits at the end of the world
I have literally the same feeling, when I do a mission "That special someone" in GTA IV. When Niko makes an execution on Darko, he just feels such an emptyness after revenge on his traitor. It really feels like nothing has changed in his life, and all of that searching was for nothing.
This piece perfectly reflects feelings on our journey in GTA IV.

This was my grandfathers favorite song, we played it at his funeral. He lived to be 99 years old, born in 1901.
Just a thought for everyone, if you're fortunate enough to have grandparents now and they live to tell you stories about anything at all.....record it!
I will share 1 with you now. My grandfathers parents owned a tavern by the Wabash River, they always kept their eyes on the 'ice man's that went down on the river and cut the ice from the river to put refrigerator for them, then spreading hay on top tried to keep it cold as they possibly could
May he rest in peace.
My grandad was born in 1936, so his childhood was spent being bombed and surviving off rations, I know nearly every day of his life from back then and have letters from his dad to his mum from the front line. Not far from 100 years ago. History is so important, remember that we're all a part of it eventually.
He passed the year i was born😕
He lived at the same time of the compositor of that song 😱🥹
May he rest in peace! My grandfather was born in 1929 and is going to be 94 years old in a few weeks. He has told me stories of how his father owned a bread truck and how he had to get up at 3-5am at 8 years old to help his father at the bakery to load up the truck. I am blessed to have him as he can still walk, sometimes even better than me, but unfortunately he is an alcoholic, and a violent one at that. He’s my only grandparent since the other three passed before I was born. At least I can say I have some good memories from him, and he’s the reason I play piano and am here in the first place to leave this comment :)
I am 74 years old and must be so fortunate to put on my head phones and listen to such beautiful sounds. It does bring me to tears and I have no idea why, It has been a favorite of mine for many years, and I can get on my computer and enjoy this wonderful beauty any time I want. I AM SO LUCKY.

This is probably my favorite rendition... its even better than his run on the $250,000 piano and even the great Lang Lang. There's something here, heart soul, culimination of a life, of a channel... the recording is even special... there' s a great warmth, body to the piano. I even like the timing, cadence.
Thank you!
I agree. I never knew an upright could sound so good!
Can someone please tell me where I can print this sheet music out. He is playing a version I've never heard before. My version is only 6 pages. His must be 10
There is something different in the sound of an upright grand....we had a baby grand when I was raised, my dad was an excellent pianist. I remember as a child sitting underneath it while he played...I inherited that piano and went on to play...at a young age I was given the opportunity to play the upright grand......it's just different...for me? I prefer the upright, Somehow it feels more immediate and less diminished.
Wow. I’m learning Clair de lune and I’ve heard 40 different renditions and this is by far the most dynamic and nuanced version. Already liked you, now it’s love.

This is not just music, this is a way to heal wounds left from words unspoken when they were needed. Truly a gift to all mankind this song.
Honestly the piano is such a goddamn awesome instrument
Stephen Reos agreed. It sounds so pretty. Very breathtaking.
Debussy takes it to that level too. It’s strength is the harmony and Debussy knew how to create them. As much as I love the violin and the human voice, they don’t compare to the piano on harmony.
Yes for me it's the best. Also love the guitar & violin, but the piano is king.

Your dynamics are exquisite. This song is one of my favorites but it's so over played that I sometimes forget just how stunning it is when played with true musicality. Thank you so much! 💕
This piece tells a story to me, it's not quite the same everytime, but it's something like this.
This new century is still very young, its early spring in the year 1909. This is an interesting time, somewhere between the old world and new. All things in this age seem possible.
A young lad, maybe 24 or 25, meets a beautiful young woman on the street of a renowned Promenade in France. This young woman enthrals him, her beauty and elegance captivates him. He approaches her and invites this dazzling young woman to a romantic evening with him. A night they spend with eachother strolling down the modestly illuminated Promenade, drinking wine in little cafes on the street corner, gazing into each others eyes when they hear this melody being played on an old piano. They stay there with eachother late into the following day, only leaving when the flames of the candles on their table fades away. Time to them was endless.
He stays there with her, and they spend these days of their youth and innocence happily in each other's arms. Several years pass of him courting her. He had loved her more than anything else he had ever dreamed of.
However, war comes. He is forced to go and fight. He tells her goodbye and reluctantly leaves her in that french town they loved each other in. They write letters, yet he stops receiving them after a few months. A year passes, two, three, he hasn't heard from her.
The war is over. He returns to the town where he said goodbye to her. The town has received substantial damage from the great war. He looks all over, yet never again finds her.
He is forced to move on. Years pass, decades pass. He never knew what happened to her. Unfortunately he never will. He tries to forget, but he is always left unfulfilled. Another war comes, and another war ends. Of course, he's too old to participate in this one. Some years after it ends though, he goes back to that town in France. He's an old man now, it's been nearly 50 years since he had last seen her, but he hasn't forgotten. He's walking down an old Promenade, the same one he walked down all those years ago. Two wars have changed it, yet nonetheless it's still the same. "Nightime in spring is a wonderful time for a stroll" he reckons.
As he makes his way past a little cafe, he stops. He listens. he hears this song coming from inside, Its being played elegantly upon the strings of an old piano.
Yes, Its the same melody. He closes his eyes. He remembers, and once again, he returns to 1909.

Trust me once you start playing many songs will come through...I just wanted to learn to play so I could play moonlight sonata 1st movement. But once you start playing many song will come through and you will want to learn more!
I started after I heard Ballade No.1 by Chopin, and my main goal was to be able to play that. But once I started I began finding more and more songs I wanted to play and it became allot of fun, and its never to late to start I started in high school witch to me was late compared to most I met. But I don't have a single regret in starting piano, I love it and I'm really glad I decided to start learning. GUYS IM HALFWAY DONE WITH THIS MASTERPIECE!!!! (I'm preparing it for someone very important and special to me)
Edit: It is done....I have finally learned the full piece. I wanna cry 😭😭❤❤
Edit, June 9, 2020: so I DID prepare it for someone special, but she just doesn't seem interested. (If you understand what i mean) However, I'm still glad that I could learn how to play this :) For those who want to learn how to play this beautiful piece or are currently learning it, dont give up :) I'll tell you a story...my story.
So when I was in the 11th grade of high school, I LITERALLY had no friends. And I'm not even joking or exaggerating. I would always look at everyone with their buddies and friends. I never really paid much attention to band kids or music classes. And I wasn't even interested in music back then...not even a little bit. Sometime later, I started homeschool. When I was about 8 yrs old my father bought me a Casio WK-110 keyboard (61 keys) for my birthday. I didn't really know what I was doing on it, since I was just hitting keys and playing the pre-recorded songs (thinking that I was actually playing well when I wasn't doing anything lol) anyway, a couple weeks later, I lost interest in that keyboard because I realized I was never good at playing music. For 9 years I didn't touch that keyboard. And as I was saying....when I started homeschool, I had more time to do other stuff throughout my days. But one day, I was watching a CZcams video (I can't remember what video it was) and that's when I heard Beethoven's famous Moonlight Sonata 1st movement. On that day, i didn't know what that piece was actually called, or who Beethoven even was. So after some research on Moonlight sonata, I looked at my old keyboard that was waiting for me for 9 years. I plugged it up, and started navigating through the settings and some cool features it has. And to my surprise, it had Moonlight Sonata 1st movement (Beginners version) pre-recorded AND a tutorial on how to play it. I instantly started practicing until I knew how to play it (btw I'm self taught). I looked up more Beethoven pieces. And found SO many beautiful and amazing pieces that I've never heard. That's when I started digging for Classical Music. I found many magnificent composers like, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Chopin, And Beethoven of course. But one night, I found Rousseau's channel. And I started looking at some of his videos....until I saw the beautiful, extraordinary, magnificent, Clair De Lune. I fell in love with it after I heard it. I was intrigued by Debussy. When I saw Rousseau's video on Clair De Lune I said to myself, "Why are the most amazing pieces so hard to play? I'll NEVER be able to play this, EVER. This is way above my level."......But that's when a girl moved over to my area. She's so beautiful and has an amazing personality. Then I said "If one day i give her a gift, i want to give her a gift in which i show how much i care for her." (A couple weeks later I saved up enough money for a full 88 keyboard), i was DETERMINED to learn how to play Clair De Lune. I started practicing, and practicing, and practicing. Every day for 9 months, 3 hours a day. But everytime I would practice, I would always have her in my mind for motivation. I was halfway through it when I posted my first comment 5 months ago. Now you know who I was preparing it for. Finally a month later, I successfully learned the full piece, with hard work and sweat. I was ready to play for the girl. Until- some other guy came into her life. She seemed really into him. At another couple's wedding....I just stood and watched as they danced, and talked and laughed. Then I decided to leave without saying bye to any guests. I was really sad, angry, jealous, but deep down....I was also happy for her. Because she was happy to have met someone who could be good for her. I let them be, and until this day, they still may be together. But one day as I was playing Clair De Lune, I realized, that this piece is the perfect piece for my life. Just like Clair De Lune, my relationship with her started off slow and steady, then I noticed that she was talking with someone else, I grew upset, jealous. But just like the ending of the piece, I accepted her happiness being with someone suitable for her. Now, everytime I play this piece, I'll always have her in my head. And that's why I love this piece, and why my practice, wasn't really a waste.
I didn't write this ENTIRE story for attention. I'm doing it for those who have a goal and fail everytime. Keep going. Who knows what's waiting for you at the finish line. Maybe a great reward...or another chapter to be unfolded. It all depends on how you take control. I know your a stranger, and I'm a stranger as well. But I care even if I don't know you. Trust me. When you get to that finish line, and look behind you, you'll say "It was worth it".
Thank you for your time.Keep going❤
Edit, September 21st, 2020: I just want to take this time and say Thank You to everyone who has given me positive feedback. (yes, I read your comments and I like them😄) Also for those who have commented about how this piece (or any other piece) can or has influenced you in any good way...
I always found it hard to nail down the feeling this song gives but I think I've got it. "Longing for the future, knowing what pain it may bring, but hopeful nonetheless." Either that or "Looking back on your life, remembering the toil and hardships but also the beauty and wonder that made it all worth it."
I feel like I’m on my death bed, looking back at my life.
So true
whenever i listen to Clair De Lune, i imagine many things but if i have to choose few words to describe what it makes me feel, i would choose: childhood, heaven, god, magical, innocence, reality, dream, being alone, being with loved ones, deep consciousness and peace, etc
for me its like meeting your soul mate from a past life
The fragility of so much in life. The early notes give a sense of the ethereal beauty and temporary nature of moonlight itself, which allows one an epiphany that life itself is much the same...and that it should never be wasted, not one simple moment of it.
Just when I was getting bored something amazing comed out.Thank you Vinheteiro

You do indeed love to "kid around" on the piano but you can also play with sublime excellence and beauty. You are a master musician of the piano.
Chego a suspirar com tanta exuberância e majestade!
Belíssima música, não me canso de ouví-la, em particular, sob sua performance!
Deleite para meus ouvidos e minha alma!
Seu talento, sem duvida, é um “Dom Divino”!
This piece encapsulates sadness and happiness in such a delicate balance... it represents an experience comparable to graduating high school. You are leaving that safety and that stability you have been through almost everyday for 12 years... you are leaving friends and faces you’ve seen for years.... but with that sadness you can’t help but feel happy that you are free... that your life has now truly begun. Leaving the stability of school is saddening... the outside world is truly scary.... having to grow up is scary but you can’t help but feel excited about starting your own life... about beginning a new chapter in your life.
This is what I feel even 3 years after high school..
Some people are in school for 14 years because Jk and Sk or kindergarten.
Well said. This is true to everyone’s life journey.
cry✅
Soon as you hit freshmen year, shit starts to take off. I am a junior in highschool and it’s hard to believe I was only a freshmen 3 years ago.
What the hell, I had just recently fallen in love with this song and he publishes this...
Same, but I can't play it becase it's too hard for me
Samee

That was probably the most beautifully played rendition of this piece.... so LOVE it!!!
Thank you Mr. Debussey for having the vision and ability to compose such a thing of beauty, and thank you Sir for having the incredible level of skill to reproduce that vision in such a beautiful way.
THE MAN

THE LEGEND!!
VINHETEIRO!!!
The quality of this recording is amazing.
Thank you so much for this. The way you played this, the tenderness in every note, how it seemed no measure was rushed through as I have observed in other recordings was so refreshing. This made my day. Thank you!
obrigada lordão, essa música tem um efeito extremamente calmante sobre mim, adoro seu trabalho
This song should be played when the last star in our universe becomes a white dwarf, when there’s no hope for any sort of life form in the entire universe and it eventually becomes cold, empty and infinite
You should write a book.

I don’t think that’s how stars work. When they release their outer layers it creates stellar nebulas which repeats the cycle
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed.
The emotions it creates are the deepest I've ever encountered.
Listen to Liszt's Consolation #3
SIr, This performance is the very best I have ever heard. Absolute perfection

My favorite piece of music. There is something about this piece of music that really digs deep into the soul; to give joy and a smile to my face.
De onde vem tanta beleza, inspiração e criatividade para se criar uma música como essa ?

I've listened to so many people play Claire de lune but yours is the most beautiful of them all. I felt goosebumps listening to it. Thank you for such beautiful playing!
Thank God Claude Debussy was inspired to write Clair de Lune because I can't live without the beauty of this music in my life.
