Hey, guys! Today we are finishing the saga of my Narnia wardrobe. Remember, in my last video, I found an armoire that I absolutely fell in love with. The only problem was that it was several hours away from my house... and absolutely huge!

maybe it's just me. But the mahogany is so beautiful that I want all my wood accents to match the room.
On the wall behind the armoire, where the lantern is, and to see it through the crack in the back panel...
...hang a painting or photograph that depicts the snowy forest of Narnia and maybe a glimpse of Mr Tumnus and the Badgers waving hello.

I’ll be 60 and absolutely decorate my home for myself and my family. I don’t care about trends. Trends come and go. You’ll never really catch up. (P.S. I have a lantern in my front yard, every winter when the first snow falls I secretly call it my “Narnia lantern”. You’re never too old to dream ❤)
I’m 70 and I’ve always decorated to suit myself. I’m the one that has to live with it.
We have a light in the front of our house that my husband has always called Narnia. we have lived here almost 26 years and we always look to Narnia to see how much snow has fallen in winter
So I'm big on themed rooms
My bedroom - Night at the museum that way I can have eclectic older pieces paired with black and white photos I have taken.
My hall is walk with him themed. It has some of my more religious artwork and items
My bathroom is becoming turtle themed off a painting my art instructor did for me.
My next areas are My home library (beauty and the beast), laundry room (House elf / harry potter) and kitchen contry chic

Believe it or not, these cabinets are BEING GIVEN AWAY at estate sales as NOONE WANTS THEM ANYMORE!!!

When I turned 40 I graduated with my undergraduate degree and at 42 started my MBA. It has been such a blessing to feel this free and each day is something to cherish. Same here. I love cherry wood furniture that has been cared for and polished even though it is considered out of style. My house is filled with it. I would have loved to have gotten that Secretary desk you showed was in that antique store. I've always wanted one, but they were around $800 new back in the 70's.

… The room looks beautiful and my imagination went wild when I saw that wardrobe. Can you imagine.. fixing a second door at the back of the wardrobe (or removing the back and using a fabric instead), placing it in front of the door to the kids playroom (removing it or repainting in colour of the wardrobe) and making the playroom behind it as magical as in the movie The Chronicles of Narnia? Your hutch turned out beautifully. The lantern was such a nice touch and the red tablecloth made such a great back drop. Narnia is one of my favorite movies too.
I bought on marketplace a secretary desk like you show at the end. Someone had attempted to lighten it up with paint and streaks. So I painted it a darker red from Waverly chalk paint, striped the inside with a red and white 1" stripe. It looks great now. Love these kind of finds. ❤

I absolutely am so in love with that armoire. It’s amazing that you found it. Another idea to cover up any holes in the back, is to get a piece of thin plywood or even a heavy card board, measure it out to the size of the back of the self and either put an ornate floral wallpaper or a beautiful tapestry and pop it in to the back of the shelf securely. Do it for each shelf and you’ll have a beautiful background/backdrop in your armoire.

Both area makeovers look absolutely amazing! I have my home styled with both antiques and regular furniture. I love how it gives the rooms a look of old and new. Even better most antiques are family passed down. I enjoy watching you because you’re so up beat and happy !!

My Mom taught me to decorate for what I like and what motifs. I love that as I can make every rooom have a theme. My old Victorian house with plaster walls and lots of doors made me also appreciate functionality of decor and furniture so I don’t clutter as much as I use to. I love mixing old pieces with new and having things be as ornate as I like it.

I have an old secretary that was my grandparents'. One of the few pieces that my daughter has 'tagged' for after we are gone! lol. I love it. But now of course, I need a Narnia cabinet! Beautiful decor, on trend or not.
ABSOLUTELY!!! I have always said that! Your home should be your happy place…forget what everyone says about things being in or out! If I like it and it makes me happy, it comes home with me. I feel like all these “trends” are gimmicks from retailers to keep you spending money… like new versions of phones, iPads,TV’s,vehicles,etc…The list could go on and on right!!! Don’t try to make everyone else happy, you’re the one that matters! It’s your home, your family, your memories…PRICELESS!!!

I totally agree with the sentiment of not designing based on what's in style. I've been slowly accruing items I like over the decades and replacing all my temporary functional necessities with long term staples that bring me joy. I'm going for Steampunk Pirate, overall... It's taken me a while, but with patience and creativity, and many, many thrift stores, yard sales, estate auctions, etc., I'm finally starting to achieve the overall desired outcome and my home is my happy place. Enjoy!
