    As someone who has worked extensively with seniors, I can tell you that people definitely would hire you! Many seniors don’t have family living close by or have anyone else to do the errand type tasks for them.

    That's simply terrific! There definitely is a need for people to concierge, especially for seniors. Wonderful idea Amy! Go for it! Just one more thing: do what YOU want to do, and do what makes YOU happy. I always watch your videos till the end, especially your vlogs. I also binge-watch you often!😊

    I was attracted to your channel because of Ruby. I love Golden Doodles. That said, I enjoy you and your family and your Southern Minnesota farm. I think Amy’s Errands is a great idea! As a 75 year old former Southern Minnesota geezer, I know there must be lots of elder folks in your area that would benefit greatly from your new venture.....especially now during the pandemic! I love your channel and have one of my daughters Alison following you (also a Doodle lover with similar values as you). Remember that the first step is always the hardest. You will do great! Best of luck!

    First of all your video was not boring! My GoldenDoodles and I always watch your whole content. We love watching Ruby and your family’s adventures . I think your idea of starting a business currier service for seniors is a fantastic idea! What a blessing you would be to your older community! You can do it!

  • @morecoffeeicecream9451

    I love your videos! I appreciate how transparent you are about life. I’m at so many of the places you mentioned, looking for a job, dealing with other people’s opinions, worry, etc. I know what you mean about being home for the family. It’s so hard to pin down what exactly I do every day, so much of it is hard to quantify, but I know it matters and it’s what keeps our family moving forward. I know other families do fine with two people working but for me, I want to be there to raise my kids. I think that’s something that is not prioritized anymore. Also, if the new business is a passion on your heart, go for it! I’m glad Charlie is ok and it wasn’t his permanent teeth.

    Aww Amy i'm so happy for you! I am a teaching assistant at my kids school. I help teach math and some ela to grades 3/4,5/6 and 7/8. I love it! I take them and they come home with me. Being in those "upper" grades I get to be with Emily and Sawyer so it's awesome.
    As for your idea.......DO IT! You would be perfect at it!
    As for this being "super boring and super long", GIRL STOP! I love these. It's like catching up with a friend. We talked about this before. I have been watching you for over 10 years. Seeing where we all started and where we are now is awesome, but sad. So many are gone from here and I feel like this is such a niche that needs to be represented! You-Tube is full of mom's with babies and little ones, but a lot of us have older kids and I know that I desperately love seeing other real moms in this forum. I think this stage of life is just boring, mundane. We're raising our kids, going to basketball practice and all that. Marriages are over 10 years at this point and that alone is hard. So, please know you are showing something important. A real mom, in a real marriage, with real kids. No Mc CZcams mansion, no fancy dinners or eating out, no look at what I bought everyday. Just keep being you :)

LOVE Ruby (I have a baby goldendoodle joining the family in about 6wks), Love hearing about your boys - I raised 3 kids, 2 boys, and a daughter(who is now a young Mom - your age)...Love your energy - GO FOR THE Amy’s Errands, concierge business - Corona Virus timing means lots of seniors NEED to stay home - but NEED help with shopping etc...You’d be GREAT - don’t listen to the doubters! Follow your ❤️ as long as your family believes in you NOTHING ELSE matters! Good Luck 👍

    #imadeit! Amy, I was SO excited to see a new chatty video, I haven’t checked in a while and was so excited to see one, they are my favorite!! I feel like you snd i could talk for hours, from what you are talking about we sound so similar! I hope Charlie is feeling well and is healing right up. The subbing job sounds perfect, I’m so happy for you! And yes, you should totally start this business, I think it would be very successful! Last, I can totally relate about the worrying, especially when everything is going well in life and you feel like you’re just waiting for the ball to drop. I have gotten better over the last year or so by being very intentional about staying in the present and when I find my mind wondering I come redirect my thoughts as soon as I can to something positive and then do something I feel “in control of” - it can be as simple as a load of laundry! I also do a ton of praying when I feel myself starting to worry! Can’t wait for the next chatty video!

  • @AprilShowers560
    @AprilShowers560 Před 3 lety

    My thoughts on running a small business like that.....don’t do it. I’m sure you are more than capable and you’re so kind and caring, but trust me, having been involved in aged care, the families can be an absolute pain in the ass. I was caring for an elderly woman, her family were lovely at first but then they started demanding more and more of me and got quite nasty when I said that the things they were asking weren’t my job. Then some jewellery went missing and guess who they blamed? Turned out a granddaughter had “borrowed it” and I got an apology but I didn’t go back. Not worth it. I loved the lady but her family were greedy, demanding assholes who didn’t want the bother of looking after their own mother. Income returns for a small, sporadic business like that are also quite difficult to navigate. Not sure if it’s different in the US, but here a lot of services like cooking, cleaning and general errands are provided by volunteers through the local community centre so there isn’t a huge demand for actual paid work. I’m sorry to be so negative but these are things you need to be aware of. If I were you, I’d be much more inclined to keep doing substitute teaching with the aim of getting back into the school system like you used to do. Regular hours, regular pay and the running of it is someone else’s problem. Just my opinion for what it’s worth. Either way, good luck xx #imadeit

    I love how we got to know you more! Nothing is impossible, you can do it! I truly believe that if you have idea, go for it. If you fail, learn from it. Have confidence in your dreams of having a business for yourself! You’re biggest critic is you, don’t worry about anyone else. They aren’t you! Be confident in yourself because I only know you through YT and I believe you can do it just from watching you on here!
    btw, wheat germ oil is amazing for scars...I have stretch marks and the oil diminished them greatly!

    #imadeit. I loooove these videos with you. I feel like i really get to know you. I started to follow you when Henry was born. My son just turned 12 last month. You should be home if thats where your family wants you. I have a part time job and only work while he is in school. Its what we like! Id suggest you go forward with your business but make sure you have good insurance and if you need it an good accountant. My mom owns a small business and those are two constant things that we rely on. In the begining she needed a good lawyer as well. But you are intelligent so im sure you know that :)

    Hey Amy I remember your post about wanting to start this business and I think you should give it a try. It would be great you would be able to possibly take someone to an appointment or go pick up their prescriptions, you could help them with simple tasks like make a simple meal for them or do their groceries or pick up anything they need like from the mall or Target? Now I don’t know if I fit in the category of younger my birthday is this Saturday and I will be 42 and I came across your channel years ago through the moms group I think that’s how I got connected with you because someone that I was following her name is Cheryl that’s it mom of 6 boys. Yes I heard about that accident that happened you shared that on Facebook! I’m glad everything is going well and that he is healing wonderfully. Yes we actually have full day junior kindergarten which for some of you out in the areas where you live or further would be preschool. We also have full day kindergarten too and how things are going since the pandemic and school has been back up and running all of the public school they go Monday to Friday full day and they have to wear masks or be sent to school with two or three masks. The same is for the middle school which is junior high they go full-time and high school you have your option to do virtual learning full-time or to attend full-time!! So for students that do attend full-time it is 2 days one week for 2 hours and the rest is online. The next week it is 3 days a week for 2 hours and then the rest is online. No each week the rest of it is all virtual so if Julia goes 2 days which would be Monday ,Tuesday and then she does Wednesday, Thursday and Friday online. The next week Julia would go Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday and then Thursday and Friday would be online. So pretty much it may sound kinda of confusing but it’s really not, so the days that she’ll go 2 hours a day she comes home has Lunch and then does whatever assigned work online unless there’s no class and she’ll just work on whatever she needs to get done. Then the days that she doesn’t have school it’s all online. So I hope that sums it up for you. But right now we’re getting prepared for the next session of school so she has opted with the decision of my husband and myself to just stay home and do everything online since our numbers have been climbing. We’re doing OK we’re getting some restrictions changed so that we can bring our numbers down altogether for Canada in the province of Ontario where we live. The numbers may be high but that’s for all of Ontario. Not just our city and people confuse that, so you got to look at your city and then you got to look at it all together. I would like to see another lock down but they are trying to be having to do that for a second time I think it would be the best because we did very well the first time in our numbers were going down significantly and then when they opened up stage three things got a little more open and we were allowed to do more things and people were getting carried away not everybody but some and that’s what made our numbers climb. But I wish you all the best we are doing well and staying safe and we are taking it one day at a time and your video was not that long I watch the whole thing and am looking forward to hearing about your new job Adventure. But being a substitute as you had mentioned that’s always a lot of fun and sounds really great hopefully you’ll be able to do that for a bit but still rooting for you to start your business.

      @@dreamflight6000 Our son has issues with controlling his filter, and raising his voice too loudly (hearing checked out fine). We were wondering ways in which you’ve used to help teach being quiet and volume control? One method we’ve tried is a redirection method such as a juice cup, bottle, snack or toy to redirect attention. Any methods in particular you use consistently? If we are in a jam, we are curious if a gentle hand over the mouth quickly would work? If you have tried that with success? Thanks look forward to hearing from you.

    I am totally on the same page with you about full time work, I want to be there for my kids sick days, and holiday parties at school, and volunteer, and sports if they chose. I don’t care what anyone thinks about that, my value is at home, I’m adding value in those ways.
