Hi guys. Stevie wrote and sang this song in response to her partner's (Lindsey Buckingham) song "Go your own way" when they were splitting up as a couple. The whole album featured songs relating to the various problems within the group. It is still one of the best albums ever made by any group.
Shut up. Do you know them, intimately?
@@secretsuzie Stevie and Lindsey have both said this in every interview they’ve ever done on Rumours…
@@secretsuzie err , this is a very well known story.
@@secretsuzie it's the truth dummy
Wrong
There were three singers in the classic Fleetwood Mac lineup. In addition to Stevie there was Christine McVie (keyboard player) and Lindsey Buckingham (guitar player - ranked in the Top 100 of all time, btw). Stevie has the MAGICAL voice but the other two are very very good. Check out Go Your Own Way to hear Lindsey and You Make Loving Fun to hear Christine.
I think Christine's voice is very underrated since Stevie gets most of the attention. There are several songs where Christine takes the lead that are excellent.
@@PongGod well she should have done much more ...
You could take the songs of the 70s and you would need nothing else...Really.
@@PongGod - Christie is a fine vocalist, no shade.....but Stevie is Legendary.
When Fleetwood Mac first came out I remember there were rumors that Stevie was a white witch. The first time I saw them perform, I believed it because you could not look away from her. She was mesmerizing.
She also used to start “Rhiannon” by saying it was a song about an old Welsh witch.
Hey there. Just to let you know, this was one of the all time monster hits of the 70's, which helped catapult Fleetwood Mac into the stratosphere.
Stevie's unique style and voice are timeless.
I always found Stevie's voice bewitching. Asia hit it right on the head; she keeps you captivated waiting for what's next.
So you've fallen under the spell of the vocals of Stevie Nicks. So many have.😁 If you ever listen to "Sara"(original studio version from "Tusk"), be prepared to again make your way through that soothing, mesmerizing labyrinth that is Stevie.
Last concert I saw before the pandemic was Fleetwood Mac. Stevie still sounds incredible live
Me too in fall 2019 with my daughter who was 18 in Winnipeg Manitoba for our birthday
One of my dreams 💕
Me too and totally agree.
Can't go wrong with Fleetwood Mac.
I‘m not the biggest fan of 70s music but „Rumours“ was one of the best albums in popmusic. Fleetwood Mac were an amazing group.
Thats a bummer cause the 70s is really the best decade when it comes to music and films.
Fleetwood Mac IS an amazing group.
@@ineverswag nah not films, def music though
@@Guitardudeftw probably isnt a decade that was packed with more classic films than the 70s. So many great directors made landmark films during that decade.
You're in my top 5 reactionist. You're both so sweet, well spoken (great vocabulary) kind hearted and total rock and roll folks. You know good music regardless of genre, but I think you're definitely rockers who appreciate the diversity and depth of some rock music. Lovely to watch your surprised faces when listening to a banger or discovering a new band. Musical empaths
"Over my head " gives Christy McVeigh a chance to showcase her amazing vocals by Fleetwood Mac.
Yes, I almost prefer her to Stevie Nicks.
@@beterbutz i think nicks has a more interesting voice, more personality and feel to it. but mcvie has a far superior voice technically, in terms of range, clarity, the usual metrics people would judge a vocalists ability by. christine mcvie is a truly great singer. songbird is the vocal highlight of the rumours album.
Stevie Nicks and Don Henley (Eagles) ~ "Leather and Lace"
Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty ~ "Stop Draggin My Heart Around"
A Fleetwood Mac song sung by Christie McVie that I KNOW you will love is "Songbird".
Stevie Nicks has a legendary voice! Just beautiful, saw Fleetwood Mac a few years ago and she still sounds amazing 🎵🎶🔥🔥
Stevie is usually the lead singer, but there are a few hits where either Lindsey Buckingham or Christine McVie sing.
A shame nobody ever reacts to Christine's songs such as: You Make Loving Fun, Don't Stop, and Songbird. She also had a couple of solo hits: Got a Hold on Me, and Love Will Show Us How.
I prefer Christine's voice and songwriting.
And Oh Daddy
I’m not a fan of Christine’s work.
@@irishgrl that's interesting since McVie wrote and sang lead on more Top 40 FM hits than both of her singing-songwriting bandmates combined: nine for McVie, compared to five for Nicks and three for Buckingham. Not to mention she wrote 8 out of the 16 songs that made it onto their greatest hits album.
dont forget little lies and everywhere, those are 2 killer tracks.
You should watch the live music video of this song. The fact that Stevie Nicks and the Guitarist we're dating, broke up and still did this song together. It kinda adds in a dynamic of Stevie and the guitar is going back and forth, like they are talking almost.
You really need to check out the entire Album Rumors. They had 99 problems at the time and it made for one of the best albums ever.
If they weren’t so messed up at the time, they probably couldn’t have made this album. Drugs, random and wanton acts of sex, more drugs.
You guys should watch a documentary on the making of this record, Rumors. It will open your eyes to what fueled all of their creativity for this legendary record. All the songs were interpersonal between the members. Two couples going through two breakups, and Mick Fleetwood, the drummer. Songs being sung about each other.
This song is her response to her ex, Lindsey's song titled "Go your own way." He's the guitar player and part time singer.
I thought it was a response to the Song "Crystal" from Buckingham/Nicks and the previous FM album.
Good reaction. It is Stevie Nicks singing on this one. On cover of the Rumours album is Mick Fleetwood (Drummer) and Stevie Nicks. The band is named after Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (bassist) Fleetwood Mac had 3 lead singers, Lindsay Buckingham (guitar), Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie (Keyboards). Each wrote their own songs and they usually split the number of songs between them on each album. the song "The Chain" was mostly Buckingham, but all 3 sung on it and was co-written by the entire band. Others you can do is "Go Your Own Way" (Buckingham), "Don't Stop" (McVie) and "Rhiannon" (Nicks) If you do "Rhiannon" do the version from the Midnight Special, it is killer. Thanks and God Bless Oh, and P.S. there is a huge rabbit hole of hits with them as well.
what an inspired, surreal type of vibe they created. this song has captivated me since i was a kid sitting next to the stereo hearing it on the radio.
From the same album: “Go Your Own Way”, “Don’t Stop”, “You Make Lovin’ Fun” and “Songbird” are all incredible. The two couples in this band were breaking up while this album was being written.
Love them. Seen them 7 times, Stevie Nicks solo 4 times. Yippee for me.
FM…. Y’all have made a new fan.
Were you on The Ledge chat room? I was for years! Then they changed owners & I left
Check Lindsey's live performance of "big love" ... Talent overload. Can't miss with anything Fleetwood Mac did. Demo of "sister of the moon" traps me Everytime too
This was on the biggest selling album of all time at the time. I was about 19 or 20 when it was released. Yes, I find that time between 78-80 to be a transition period in pop rock. Them, cheap trick, supertramp. I remember being enthralled.
Everyone in the band sings their own songs. The others often do backing vocals
This reminds me of Saturday morning house cleaning when the folks would crank up Fleetwood as we cleaned.
Stevie Nicks the lead singer from '75 has a whole solo catalogue of songs she has been a prolific writer. To really appreciate her singer, performer, writing talent a request for reaction to Sisters of the moon Fleetwood Mac live Mirage Tour 1982. Just watch the Rock Goddess perform this song like nothing before or since, fire 😊😲❤
For A Nice Sample Of One More Of Fleetwood Mac's Incredible Vocalists,, Christie McVie,, FLEETWOOD MAC "LITTLE LIES"...A MUST HEAR.
Check out Fleetwood Mac - Rhiannon (live 1976)…it’s an incredible performance.
Live on the Midnight Special
That whole album a work of art 🎨
Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band, formed in London in 1967. Their album "Rumours" (1977) has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums in history. All the songs on it are great. "Go Your Own Way", "Dreams", "Don't Stop", "You Make Loving Fun". "Second Hand News", "Gold Dust Woman" & "The Chain". Other great songs from other albums are "Over My Head", "Say You Love Me", "Rhiannon", "Landslide", "Tusk", "Think About Me", "Sara", "Hold Me", "Love In Store", "Gypsy", "Oh Diane" etc.
Lost their money to a lot of cocaine
That's just with Buckingham and Nick's, they also had many great songs with Peter Green and Bob Welsh. Like Black magic woman, green manalishi which Carlos Santana and Judas priest did covers of. And not to mention all the Christine McVie fronted songs.
They were British originally. By this stage they were 40% American.
This is one of my top 5 favorite songs of all time. IMHO the top four FM songs are DREAMS, THE CHAIN, RIHANNNON, and LANDLSIDE, I would also add the other woman in this band also has a beautiful voice, her name is Christene McVie. My favorite of hers is SONGBIRD. To check out Stevies boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham, check out the live version of GO YOUR OWN WAY, from the 1997 dance tour....it is fire!!! and remember players always love you when they play you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chain is my favorite. Great album
And just imagine, the person she's singing about is dueting with her. XD
Fleetwood Mac was the Soap Opera rock band for many years. I definitely recommend seeing the full documentary on them.
If I can remember correctly, the Rumors album was done completely with each band member in a separate room, cause they couldn't stand each other's presences. The song The Chain is representing what brought them altogether to begin with: their love of music and all of their hard work finally making it big. They all write and sing that one!
This could be a huge rabbit hole for you! They are very talented band. Once again showing you that everything most amazing came out in the 70s! (Some time watch Stevie Nicks et al, performing live, especially when she was younger. A real treat)
Asia&BJ, Their "You Make Loving Fun", "Go Your Own Way" and "Silver Spring" are next for you!! "Silver Spings" is best live from their 1996 concert 'The Dance'. The tension between Stevie and Lindsey is palpable!
Can't say enough good about her. Huge fan, also as a solo artist in the 80s. Believe she's still performing. Have u reacted to RHIANNON? Best version is live in 76 on Midnight Special. She was on fire!!! Spectacular performance.
That was an amazing performance!
'Rumors' - One of the greatest Albums of all time IMHO
Seen them twice live over here in the UK...brilliant band.
My first concert...Logging and Messina, America, and FLEETWOOD MAC...Late 70s.
Their music is beautiful and timeless.
Rumors was a huge album and all over the radio at the time...!
I saw Fleetwood Mac along with Loggins and Messina, and The Eagles in Tampa Bay Stadium on July 4th, 1976. It was an amazing Bicentennial concert. It happened to also be the day my divorce from my first husband became final. A day of celebrations, the music was devine, fireworks galore, the Eagles lit up a giant Eagle behind the stage at the end, it was also the first concert tour with Joe Walsh. What a day that was, a real stand out in 68 years of memories. Unfortunately, Fleetwood Mac hadn't released the Rumors album yet, still a truly wonderful day of music. This song is a standout, on a standout album.
Three singers, Stevie Nicks, Lyndsey Buckingham and Christine McVie. All three sing lead on various songs and all three do the harmonies.
Fleetwood Mac had three songwriters and whoever wrote the song, sung the song. Hence, they had three lead singers. Lindsay Buckingham, Christine Mc Vie and Stevie Nicks.
*One of the best albums made by Fleetwood Mac. It was Grammy winner in 1977 for album of the year.*
There most beautiful song was "Sara" and the one with the most intense lyrics was "No Questions Asked"
I’ve never liked Sara or Stand Back!
I just finished high school, 18, saw this band in buffalo, june 77. Its part of growing up
There were two couples in the band at the time going through break ups while making this album. I mean the members of each couple were all in this band. And they all wrote songs about each other and their relationships. And when they sing harmony vocals it's three of them around one mic, singing songs about their own breakup written by the person standing next to them. And it's the best album of this lineup. Just amazing stuff.
Stevies voice is just soo damn good it is truly like listening to an angel.
This is the best album! Such amazing lyrics. ❤️❤️
There's a lot of history with Fleetwood Mac. They were already skilled musicians when they formed the band. In the era of Disco, Fleetwood Mac topped the Pop Rock charts. For a little moment in the 70s they were the number one band in the world.
Christine McVie has lots of songs w/ Fleetwood Mac and has been the band since it was formed in the 1960s. Try " Oh Daddy" and " Songbird" really showcases her vocals. Beautiful pipes
Stevie Nicks...Love her voice!!!❤
I love how you guys are loving this album and the band. One of the BEST bands of all time. Hope you guys enjoy it it's AWESOME!
Gotta love Stevie's voice, Gold Dust Woman is another track you guys might want to check out from them.
She could sing me to sleep every night. One of the greatest voices ever
I was watching you guys while singing along with Stevie. I know every tiny nuance of this song, what a vibe. 💜✌️
FM was my gramps’s favorite band and this was one of his go to songs. wish i could’ve taken him to a concert or gone with him to one. miss you gramps! ❤️❤️
Her voice is Enchanting ! That's the title of her 3 cd box set Enchantment !
I've been a big Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac fan for many, many years. I love it when you react to 70's and 80's music; great reaction!
I love the sound of the acoustic guitar playing that comes in during the chorus.
The song "Crystal" from their previous album is mentioned in verse 2. Great song.
Some groups transend.. and dispite individual talent and skill.. they are in my opinion best as a whole. It's the turmoil in the band.. the relationships.. that they then put down in lyrics.
Listen to this song at least once a day.
I love the way the instruments were mixed on this song. It was recorded perfectly.
Whew...one of those gorgeous ladies with a voice to match that I had hangin on my wall growin up...great Sunday "hangover" music.
You Make Lovin Fun is my fave from them. I love how you both really feel the songs. 🔥✌🏼
Asia's grin from the slow, groovy intro is the reason I watch this channel. She knew immediately this was gonna be a good'n.
I grew up with this stuff and always enjoyed it. But I have to say this type of music only gets better with age. The way this song hits me now is quite profound, like I'm listening to it for the first time. I'm with Asia, it does sound mesmerizing. Such an immersive song. And those guitar harmonics make you feel like you've been sucked into someone's dreamworld. Great reaction as always.
One of the best albums ever made. This entire album is just one amazing song after another. Thanks!!!!
Love Stevie!
Christine and Lindsay also sang lead on some songs. Stevie was inducted to Hall of Fame both for solo and group lead singer.
Fleetwood featured Stevie Nicks, Christie McVie and Lindsay Buckingham, sharing lead and harmony. Very well indeed.
Great song! Can’t wait for your reaction!!!
great reaction! if you wanna hear one of their songs where Lindsey is the lead singer, react to Never Going Back Again. It’s an amazing song and nobody reacts to it!
Classic. Great cruising music.
Stevie’s voice had always been one of my all time favs!!! SO MANY gorgeous songs that sound fantastic & such beautiful, deep, & meaningful lyrics ❤
Love the reaction stevie did her own solo music but never let it interfere with her commitment to Fleetwood mac. Mick Fleetwood is the drummer
What a natural groove. And they overdubbed the bass months after the drums. Great song
another great one you guys are Ballin!
Check out “Over my head” sung by Christine Mcvie!
This is truly one of the albums with all good songs, some hits and some just good music.
Do yourselves a favor n listen to the whole album strait threw side A and B. For a musical experiance like no other.
The layering in this track is off the chain! Stevie and Christine's voices, along with Lindsey haunt the background and make this song even more amazing. Asia, you are so on it..
Stevie's voice is completely captivating and does pull you along. The Rumors album is written from the break up of Stevie Nick's and Lindsey Buckingham, songs of heartbreak and flat out "I am over it "!!
@asiaandbj
Yyyasssss!!!! Stevie Nick's is the QUEEN!! I've loved this song since I was little. Used to sing it in my moms car!!
YOU GOT to listen to this song LIVE 2006?/7 ! They're OLD and gray. Full packet stadium crowd turned into a CELEBRATION ☯️✌
Lol BJ...the entire Rumors album is about everyone breaking up. Stevie and Lindsey, Christine and John and even Mick and Stevie at a point. Listen to "The Chain." This explains a lot.
The beauty of FM is diversity. Stevie may have lead vocals a lot but there are popular songs with both Lindsey and Christine lead.
Dreams was huge!! And still played a lot. ❤👍🏽
This song had a big comeback a year or two ago.. the dude drinking his cranberry juice out the bottle riding a skateboard and feeling that cool vibe... ✌
They have 3 lead singers.......all of whom had number one hits.......but Stevie was loved the most for her songs
Stevie sang about players long before anyone else. They only love you when they’re playin’. She knew. 🌈💕✨
I love you guys, I appreciate you as willing to listen to different songs and give honest opinions and love love. Love your reactions .
Pure heavenly voices!!
I love this song
I would say Stevie Nicks sang lead for most of their biggest hits. Christine McVie sang lead on a few hits. On the album cover, that's Mick Fleetwood co-founder and drummer with Stevie Nicks. Lindsey Buckingham sang lead on a few songs so it was a sharing of lead vocals.
There's a good BBC documentary about the making of this album. Fleetwood Mac: Don't Stop. I highly recommend tracking it down.
Bass and Drums! This song has one of the grooviest rhythms of all time. The singers are the harmony and the lead guitar only has to play the subtle accent for mood. It is the baseline and drumbeat that carry this song from start to finish.
Love it. Back to junior high for me, love you for taking me way back. Stevie is a great song writer and Lindsay is a great producer. With Chris on keyboards and back up vocals, Lindsay on guitar and back up vocal, John and Mic on rhythms; heavenly, a great band.
Stevie Nicks wrote this song after her break up with her band mate. As a true artist, you can feel the authencity of Stevie's performance here. She has one of the most beautiful voices in rock history and it's very evident in this classic Fleetwood Mac song.
Never get tired of this beautiful song. One of the greatest singers ever was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame twice once with Fleetwood Mac other by herself.
Christine McVie also does lead vocals on a lot of songs - You Make Lovin Fun (huge hit), Say You Love me, Over My Head, Songbird.. just to name a few.. all big hits. Lindsey Buckingham does lead as well on some songs.
