Last Weekend, the Eurovision Song Contest, This year, taking place right here in Liverpool, held its Semi-Final and Final, Back to back - However, Despite the 10s of 1000s of people traveling to the city to celebrate this, There was rail strikes the entire weekend, severely hindering the train service that could be provided.
However, Network Rail came to a solution - Which was to run special relief services, across the entire weekend, With two specialist operators providing these - West Coast Railways on Sunday, and Locomotive Services on Saturday, using retro rolling stock. I chose to go out on both days and document 2 of the 3 relief services that ran - In this two-part special, we cover both of these services and all of the sights and sounds that come with them.
