Excellent video. I realised part way through watching that we never had any hi-res video of these things running back in the day, so it’s a first to capture this with the latest technology. These really were the pinnacle of the E&G service, with proper inter-city standard coaches. We’ve only had suburban multiple units since then. Used to enjoy watching these blasting out of platform 14 at Waverley with the 47/7 shoving. Fantastic.

I remember when the 47 Push Pulls went down to Network SouthEast & ScotRail got the 158s . It wasn't the same working 158s then 170s. In the 90s I worked the Caledonian Sleepers to Carlisle&Aberdeen. We had 47s,86s,87s&90s.Enjoyed watching your video brought back many memories.
