@@be.oz1960 So if someone uses said word as a term of endearment they are a ignorant moron....a place I heard it a lot was at university, where I might add there are a lot of educated people...I don’t know what part of Australia your living in, as there are many more examples of it being used in this context by many Australians.

@@be.oz1960 that’s my point, it’s not as frowned upon as much as you are making out.” Though many Aussies still do use cunt in the negative sense (with “cunty” and “cuntish” behavior still holding connotations of nastiness), referring to a person as “cunt,” as opposed to a cunt, is seen among younger generations as a sign of mateship. (“Mate,” meanwhile, is becoming a sign of disapproval-“Mate.”-or distance-“your mate” aka “not mine.” In fact, as the name of one Facebook page with more than 40,000 fans puts it, “The word ‘cunt’ is slowly replacing the word ‘mate’ in Australian society.”) The term is also used in a similar manner to shit in the U.S., as a neutral word onto which to add a positive qualifier: good cunt (see: good shit), funny cunt, Aussie cunt, or, the highest commendation of all, mad cunt.

Regardless of there up bringing...nature or nurture is always the debate...there are kids who have the best up bringing you could possibly have and have murdered their parents..I know people who where brought up in a religious home and yet swear like a trooper...again I think it has a lot to do with your sense of humour.

We used to have Cracker night once a year in Oz - Queens Birthday when you could let off firecrackers. And if something's cracker it's great - "we had a cracker of a time on holidays" for example. It's a great word in Oz and goes to show how the English language varies around the world.
