FIAT Panda Rear Screen Washer Pipe and Central Locking Fix - Main dealer broke my car twice!

My 2018 FIAT Panda went into the local FIAT main dealership for its annual service and first MOT. When it was returned, the rear offside door handle and the rear screen washers were not working. The rear screen washer fault is a well-known problem with these cars - when the pipe freezes and the washer motor is run, the supply pipe joiner under the front scuttle blows off.
The rear door handle was a problem with the central locking mechanism in the latch. Both these faults were caused by the dealership when they 'operated' these items when they were frozen. Reattaching the rear screen washer pipe is fairly easy but requires the front windscreen wipers and various plastic panels removed at the front scuttle.
The rear door latch and central locking mechanism required the interior panel removed to gain access to the door latch.
On removing the latch it was obvious that the central locking gears were 'over-centre' and these just needed to be clicked back into place.
As for the car's first MOT (at 3 years old and under 15000 miles), it failed on the top rubber bushes on the rear shock absorbers being split. New shock absorbers had to be fitted - at dealer prices! (the car was 7 days out of warranty due to delays in getting the service and MOT booked due to Covid restrictions). - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Thanks for the rear washer fix. I had assumed it was blocked jets, but obviously it wasn't and was an easy job to remove wiper blades and panel.
Glad that helped. Which reminds me, I need to go and check my rear washer again as the Panda has just come back from the MOT and they reported a 'blocked' rear washer jet. Bet the pipe blew off - YES! just checked and the pipe is off again.....
Thanks Doug- my Panda had the same rear washer fault- same cause and the same cure....other posts suggested taking the front wheel off to access pump etc. but your wee fillum has saved all that aggro and time -much appreciated. Jimmy.
Glad that helped.
Good video, thanks for that. I have the same problem with my Panda Cross, you can hear the rear washer water spraying over the inside of that enclosure :D I think it’s designed to come apart at that point if it’s under too high pressure, as there’s a path for it to just drain from the enclosure. If the pipes at the rear freeze and it didn’t pop off there, you would probably end up with the pipe to the rear bursting further along the line which would be a nightmare. It’s a pain in arse, but an easy fix thanks to your video. Cheers :)
Thanks for this. I fixed my washer pipes by slipping my hands under the plastic panel without having to take the wipers off. It was a bit tight and fiddly.
I have also done it without taking off the panel, as you say it is tight - I have the scars to prove it!
could you make a video showing how you did it without removing the plastic panel, it would really help a lot, as I have to go and try the same way.
@@michaelmllerhansen663 If you've got meatshovel hands it might be tight. If I remember, there are clips or plastic plugs either side of the panel. Just pull them out and lift up the cover as much as you can. Slip your hands under at the middle and feel for the pipes and connector. You have to work by feel but you can push the pipe back onto the connector again easily. Then you have to get your hands out without slitting your wrists....
nice Panda. I had one when I lived in London last year. It was a 2006 Panda. 1.3L pretty good diesel engine. Nice blue paint. Low consumption. Cheap insurance, 70hp, enough for its heigh. Good feeling, good precision of steering assistance. No electronic shits like ESC. I paid 800 pounds for it.
Unfortunately the guy in front of me stopped suddenly and I crashed Panda in the middle of pandemic. It was not a ugly crash. just radiator and kind of this. But the guy of mechanical workshop was out of city. So I left Panda for the insurance company. It was a big mistake.
I miss Panda mainly because am in Brazil now. Here we don't have small diesel engines. It's just for SUVs and trucks.
That is a pity about your Panda. The latest versions of the Panda now have a lot more electronics to go wrong.
I have the same door lock problem. I thought it might be the child lock so I changed the position and now the door wont open. Looks a pain removing the panel.
The door lock on mine failed again and I ended up replacing the locking unit.
Great video - thanks for that. But how did you figure out how tho remove the rear door panel? Do you have any tips or pointers for that?
Usually there are hidden screws in the door lock and handle recesses (sometimes with small plastic covers. Window winders usually need to be unclipped. There are also some push fit trim clips in the panel and the panel needs to be raised slightly to clear the top lip of the door.
Thanks.
You're welcome
Hello, What is the tow capacity of your Panda?
800kg braked, 400kg unbraked
@@DougsShed Thank you, pretty much for such a light car.
Unwatchable due to an playback issue
Works fine on all my devices, maybe a glitch at CZcams's end?
