Conors outlook on life is amazing. Such a refreshing presenter. Manons ride is probably most realistic for a 30min session. Ollies looks he has a cracking mullet underway đł
Thanks for watching David!
Jeremy looks smoother executing a cyclo-cross dismount and remount than I do coasting down a hill on smooth tarmac.
Incredible technique! đđ»đđ»
Thatâs just one reason why heâs the one and only J-Pow!
Exactly
30 seconds of JPow's workout and my lunch is on eject.....
Think he is good dismounting on the fly, watch a bike courier in action when it's busy đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Weâve been given four different perspectives on a short ride. Manon, JPow, and Ollie give a taste of intense work-outs, efforts that can really clear the brain. But Conor offers the ride I would like; seeing the world, picking blackberries, celebrating wet shoes and checking out the river - beautiful. And a little Irish philosophy too! Itâs better to do something than nothing.
Too true Edward! Each to their own and Conor's ride is on the menu for a good few of us the majority of the time!
Conor had the right idea, just go out and enjoy, that's what cycling is about, sod all the reps etc, just enjoy being out on the bike
I might stop to eat blackberries on my next ride.
Totally agree Martin, we go out for around 45 mins 3 times a week where possible just to enjoy and improve a bit over each ride of we can, some days is just to get out.
I agree, sometimes we can get too drawn away from the very reason we started riding in the first place.
exactly what i thought.
my thoughts exactly
Manon's going to have to give us a bike cave tour.
anyone manage to get a count of the number of bikes in the background?
@@evanr1940 42
Yes absolutely!
I was just thinking the same way.
đ„ quote from Conor 14:53
âSometimes in life we donât do something because we can't do everything. We'd rather do nothing instead of a little bit of something.â
Wise quote đđ
epic quote
Serious kudos to Jeremy's camera crew for keeping up/ahead of him in the sand pit.
Manon: I need a warm up ahhh. J pow: I need get my heart rate in between 130 and 140. Ollie: Ah I am late I will do reps oh I got four mins to get back ahhh. Conor: I am just happy to be out and I am picking berries. The meaning Conor is the calmest GCN presenter đđ
Actually, J Pow and Conor are pretty similar. Both just enjoy riding, they just focus on slightly different things during their rides.
Funny story , no.17 is Olie, no.18 is Manon...
Both are energetic and like to showoff their strength.
And Conor, he is the shy and calm no.16
And guess who is the strongest ?
Thumbs up for stopping to pick blackberries, Ollie's mullet and Mannon's suffering.
I absolutely LOVE the whimsy of Connor, his oneness with nature, and awe of life in general. Thanks Connor for reminding us that we can be serious about cycling and still take time to appreciate the world around us!
Jeremys workout was epic and inspirational. Definitely Jeremy đ„°âșïžâ€ïž
Yeah it was really inspirational
This is awesome. As a Husband and father, sometimes it is hard to get out for a long ride, but in the end 30 minutes is always better then nothing!
love Jeremy's energy
and Conors chill
can we all take a moment to appreciate manons' bike collection
Her entire bike area is a shrine to cycling.
Yea I was surprise at first glance. A garage tour would've been awesome
What racking system are you using, Manon?
Expectation:. Jeremy's ride.
Reality:. Conor's ride.
That's not a bad place to be in...
Conor: So here I am cycling along a nice..... oooohhhhh Blackberries.
I could watch Conor's vids all day, even without cousin Nigel.
Nigel will be pissed you think they're cousins.
@@petercody6910 Nigel might be derekdelboy's cousin...
My pre ride poop is longer than 30mins
đđ
This is the most relevant comment on the video.
See a doctor
Someone rehab weight weenie @HumaneNewt.
:-D not using 30 min for pre ride poop, but just realized, that i spend more time preparing for my rides, then i use on the road⊠(pooping included)
Jeremy: "Pump up the jams"
Me: Suddenly hype at 8 in the evening
The most impressive thing in this video to me is Jeremy's ability to hop on the bike and clip in so quickly
Nearly as good as Matt.
Helps that it's SPD pedals, so you can clip on either side.
Great content GCN crew! Love it when there are comparisons like this, getting a bunch of the presenters in on it and different perspectives! Keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love đ the variety of GCN presenters and diversity of their styles.....
I expected Ollie to ride through the park on a folding bike and politely mention to pleasant strangers that he is on his way for a coffee and a chat about his hour record.
I'm waiting for the Mr. D Lloyd edition: How many "mineral waters" can you fit into 30 minutes?
I'm with Manon. 90% of my rides are on the indoor trainer due to my schedule of when I have time. I find I'm able to get some good quality training in. My min is 30 minutes but I try for over an hour.
thats where im at its just alot easier to get a structured work out down on a indoor trainer and the new smart trainers make things not as bad as days before them. its alot harder to fit a good wokrout in with traffic and or having to drive out or ride out extra distance to get out of town and all the lights
Seriously... Connor is the best. His genuine good spirit and enthusiasm is contagious. Love that he chose to present his ride for the fresh air and the love of riding... âoooohh blackberriesâ
After 26-30 minutes of honest riding, no way can I get showered and dressed to return to my day in 3 minutes.
I'm curious about Jeremy's camera person/setup in this and past videos. He often rides aggressively in single track and someone is keeping up with steady footage. This is worth a "behind the scenes" look.
Yes, please, to the behind the scenes look.
Possibly a drone linked to a phone with a "follow me" option.
Or they are not as single track as they look.
These days, I'd think drone.
What's wrong with him be filmed from someone else?
@@SkepticleOrc nothing at all, it'd just be hard to do so.
@@stopbanningmeonets3514 I think I read this comment wrong, never mind. It is worth a behind the scenes look for sure.
Great story. 30 minutes ride is becoming a real thing here. Hint, leave the camera off for your last meeting while you get into your kit. Take the laptop to the garage so as soon as you click off you click in. I have a course that takes 27 minutes on average. When I return, I flip on the Teams meeting (camera still off) from the garage and say hello. If I can sneak it in, I turn the microphone off too and take a quick shower wile listening to someone prattle on. We all know that person who will take 10 minutes to make a one minute point! That's my shower signal! Remember camera and mic off!!!!
Haha! Sneaky stuff Jim! We like it!
Pro tip: donât just turn off the camera, put a cover on it.
Jeremy for sure, he got a good variety in his workout
It takes my washing machine more than 30 minutes to wash my kit after a ride so if I've only got 30 minutes spare and fancy a ride, I lay down until the feeling goes away.
i figure 5 minutes to get ready, 15 minutes easy warm up, one hour fairly hard with two hills @ 18 percent and one huge zoom down a hill, one hour spinning nicely home, followed by 10 minutes showering, 30 minutes cleaning the bathroom, 45 minutes washing machine. I just tell my wife I was gone for only an hour. lmao
Like your style Roger Simmons.đ
Ollie's creeping dangerously close to having a mullet (especially with his helmet on)!
Gone way beyond
His colleagues are going to have to intervene
I reckon there is a betting book going on at GCN on how long it be before Ollie gets a haircut!
Looks like Shoddy Dave now
Conor's was the best, but he fell for one of the classic blunders: Always start your loop rides going UPHILL so you can coast home.
Not always an option. I live at a high point for my local area. All routes home are uphill, it's just a matter of picking your gradient.
Starting a ride downhill is also cold in the winter...go up (or at least flat) and warm up
Takes me 10 minutes just to get changed and carry the bike out of the house. I'm with you Manon. Best workout is a GCN CZcams indoor workout!
Absolutely!
Omg Manon, pain cave envy! đź đČđČđČđČ
Defintely Jeremy! Combing on and off-road is just the most fun. Due to Corona , I ended up discovering loops in my local park riding next to the walking paths, so basically on some rooty and some not so rooty single-tracks with a small hill in every rep. Super fun and pretty effective.
Me: I shouldn't get another bike right now. I've spent too much on bikes already.
Manon's Garage: 2:12
Me: hmmmm, wellll.......
you are not wrong the ole N+1 rule in action right there
Any of these three 30 minute workouts would probably make me loose weight, lunch ejected. I do concur with anything being better than nothing. So for me a leisurely 30 minute ride every day and good 2 hour ride once a week is doable. I'm not competing with anyone but my waistline. Good show. Thanks GCN.
Jeremy put more into that half hour than I've put into this entire month!
Aagh - just spent 30 minutes watching GCN videos in my lunch break when clearly I should have been out for a quick short ride! Great stuff guys!!
Love this video, totally inspired me to get out and ride today!! Thanks so much GCN!!!
God bless JPows !!!
Rich Booth He is an efficiency and enjoyment maximising machine.
Connor has the right idea, just get outside on your local roads and do what you can......... my idea of a good 30 min ride. Great video as always đ
Omg ! Manon, how many bike do you have in there ?!
Same where I live, blackberries are really early. I was just on a slightly remote carpark for a walk and a museum and there were hundreds of them in the bushes!
!!!! Now I'm stuck with that song in my head for at least a week: "I got wet wet wet wet wet, cycling shoes..." And I'm a french canadian. That s---s ! Thanks GCN ;-)
Fun video! I like how it shows the different personalities within your team. Ollie: The class clown, Conor: Easy going and maybe a bit of a philosopher too? (Haven't seen much of his videos but that's what I get from this one) Manon & Jeremy: The technical experts with military-like discipline.
Ride scheduling is a challenge. My better half will give me a "ready by" time with the caveat "you can not be dead on your feet".
I reckon Conor could have been the next Chris Froome if it wasn't for berries and views. Tour de France would have taken him forever with all those lovely vineyards and cobbled villages.
Something for every kind of everyone in this video, so no excuses not to ride! Another inspiring video with excellent contentđ
I love what Conor and Jeremy said about doing something rather than nothing.
Conor is such a great addition to GCN! love your work mate! The others are just taking things too serious :-D
I have a nice 5-10km ride that i like to do around the beautiful swan river here in Perth Western Australia
If you only have 30 minutes, just go out and blow off some steam. You probably had a really busy day. Or go for a walk. Yes, you can get a workout in, but youâre probably better served doing the above and then getting up early the next day for a solid ride/workout.
Having said that, if youâre going for effectiveness in the shortest time possible, you just canât beat interval training on an indoor trainer (especially in the winter). You can lay everything out the night before and get the same training stress in an hour that would take two hours outside. Itâs just the reality for many of us working fatherâs that are trying to balance everything.
Great video. Ollie is rocking an epic under-helmet Covid mullet.
What a great , inspiring video. Manon's ride makes the most sense(great garage Manon!) but I think Conor got it right for me, not too serious, enjoying the scenery and getting a work out at the same time.
Love this video and I want Manons garage what a set up and bike collectionđ
That American guy is brilliant! His energy is inspirational!
Good effort all. However Jeremy nailed it with them dismounts.
Jeremy has such great energy and positivity. Conor looks like such a fun person to ride with đ€Ł
After work, I like to do a quick ride on my mtn bike. "Just twenty minutes" is what I tell myself. It's great to de-stress, get some fresh air, get the heart pumping.
Iâd rather have a quick spin like Conor. He definitely has a third career with the Ireland Tourist board! Always amazed at the energy J-Pow brings to the videos. Awesome!
Wow ! JP and Manon, know how to get it done. Ollie, late , Conor, was he thinking this was a sight seeing , adventure ? KB.
My 30 minute ride is for the future. There is a loop from my house up and round some villages on the mountainside above. It used to take me 50 minutes, it now takes me 40 minutes. One day I hope to do it in 30 minutes.
Conor's philosophy and JPows style. Perfect! So how many bikes does Manon have?
I'm going with Dan's 30 min workout looked a bit more my speed.
I love the message in this video of just get out and enjoy it, and that a little is better than nothing :)
Cool use for the Garage. In the background :)
Currently under COVID lock-in Melbourne Australia. We have one hour per day. Have found a 20 km circuit with 360 meters of altitude gained.
Much better than nothing Tim! Keep getting after it! đ
Thanks guys, really good, I love the fact that you are puch normal time slots and how to make the most of them, Thank you everyne
Connor's approach to a 30 minute ride definitely appeals to me most. đ I combine my rides with birdwatching - I get the physical and mental benefits of exercise but it doesn't feel like a chore. đ
This was an awesome video! Maybe the best GCN video ever...great workout ideas, comedy and terrific Ollie hair!
Glad you liked it!!
Kudos for the group participation and great to see everyone had their own approach. Also loved Conor singing the wet shoe blues (more Conor singing in the future, please), but I have never heard blues sound like a drinking song before.
Conor's words were the most inspiring of the last couple videos, just get out there and have a good time!
đ Conor with the MIL going spare. The wooden spoon is alive and well then...
Jeremy is a rock star! Working in some running with the bike!
For the unbelievable and magically super-quick clip-ins after running Jeremy gets it... no wait... Conor showing us what 800W for 13mins looks like on his way home... oooooo, not sure!
Great stuff.. mixin it up.. long, medium and short rides all have their place.. I love my 1hr Max efforts on a rolling terrain loop.. followed by a proper "nothing at all" rest day to recover .. then a long hilly tempo ride the day after that.. I find recovery rides the hardest.. sticking to Z1 or 2 .. I recently decided recovery rides should incorporate a coffee stop mid way.. seems to work better for me.. nice one GCN đđ»
The town Conor visited with the river is where both Sean Kelly and Sam Bennett is from, so nice to get a little bit of cycling history thrown in for good measure .
That mount by Jeremy is a thing of beauty
This episode felt a little like Top Gear for bikes, loved it! HAMMOND!
30 mins riding is a standard commute for me. Plus a bit of prep before - but hey I have to put some sort of clothing on when I get up anyway so I dont count that! And a shower and change after. Works a treat.
Really enjoyable.....if you don't want to get out on your bike after watching this you might as well take up knitting!!!
Manons Choice was the best i think. Did one 20 Minute Turbo Session (before zwift) twice a week to boost VOÂČ Max and it worked pretty well. Not sure if i managed to get changed and showered in 10 Minutes thou.
I ride 18klm to and from work every day in all weather i go as hard as i can (27 to 35 mins depending on wind direction ) love the jelly legs at the endđšđŠđŠđșđŽââïžđ»
My house overlooks one of the most popular Strava segments in the area: an ideally paved 1.4 km long boulevard sporting two hairpins, no traffic lights, and no stop signs. When I have only 30 minutes, my workout of choice is hamsterwheeling on that segment alternating threshold and VO2Max efforts with 30-sec recovery zone breaks.
Loved the video; GCN has very entertaining and informative presenters, and I've become a big fan. Honestly, though, if I only had 30 minutes, I would just go for a run.
If I was going to do 30 minutes, I would definitely stay on the turbo. I canât imagine only spending 30 minutes on the road, Iâd definitely stay out for longer!!!! Intervals on the turbo would be best option id say.
I loved Conor's ride ride
đđđ Ollie I love you man! You just popped up outta nowhere and I was just, "huh... Where the heck did you come from?" It was great! (But John will always be my all time favorite I miss him! We need another John Cannings cameo! It has a nice ring to it)
Wife and I have a route we've discovered during Covid and we'd ride it in the mornings before work, just 7 miles or so. Strava says we've ridden it many times and I'm local legend on one section just because we rode it every day.
Connor has the right approach, just like the Eddy Merckx quote, doesn't matter how far or how fast you ride, just ride
the off road/gravel/CX done by Jeremy is the best 30 mins spend....2nd to me will be the turbo by Manon. anyway, great tips guy....
Well jealous of Manon's bike collection in her garage
I'm with Conor... in the middle of my ride:"Oh look berries!!"
And medlars. And cherries. And apples. And the occasional mushroom (to take home and cook). Sometimes I wonder if I go cycling or foraging.
Jeremy would make a great du athlete. Those transitions looked smooth!! đ
It takes me 30 minutes to get ready, let alone get a decent ride in.
The way he on and off bike, hold up the bike, clip and unclip the cleat was really awesome đ
I want Manon's collection of bikes, however while I liked all the rides, Conner's edges out in terms of just aah go have a good time, even with the mis-planned hill. Stopping for berries is always a good choice.
Oh my goodness
10+ sets of 20/40 ,,, like Manon have u gone mad that's gotta hurt !!! And that bike collection on the background ! Come on GCN show us those track bikes
14:49 Conor is my new moral compass. Iâm off for a ride.
All great in their own way and all appealing. Best thing is it shows there's benefit to 30 mins regardless. #getonyourbikeandride
