    I made this for my family for Christmas and it was a huge hit. Soak your raisins in warm bourbon. I am not a alcohol drinker, but the bourbon really gives a good flavor.

    I made this tonight for St. Patrick's Day and it is hands down my favorite bread pudding recipe I've ever made (I make bread pudding every year). The only thing I did differently is I didn't do raisins (hubby doesn't like them) and I didn't add bourbon.
    My entire family enjoyed it

    I made my own version of bread pudding, which is pretty much like every other generic version, but I wanted a rich sauce with some depth. Well, low and behold, here it is. I just made this sauce, but I increased the recipe slightly because my bread pudding a slightly larger, used a single jumbo egg, a cup and a half of cream, about a quarter cup of bourbon, as well as the cinnamon and vanilla, and MAN this sauce is amazing. This is going to make my generic cinnamon raisin bread pudding, took and taste like something you'd get in a three star restaurant. This will be my go to sweet cream sauce from now on. It would be pretty amazing on just about anything, including ice cream. Actually, this would make an old shoe taste amazing. Well done, my friend. Thank you for the easy to follow recipe.

    I' made this for the very first time by following your video to the "T". I'm super excited that it turned out really good from start to finish. I dug into it after an hour of baking,; I couldn't even wait for it to cool. I let it cooled in my mouth instead. I know now what I'll be bringing to my next "office potluck". And by the way, I just finished licking both fork and plate. Keep 'em coming!

I made some adjustments and it still turned out amazing: In the bread pudding (Instead of french bread, I use normal bread that's been in the house for 2 days max and 3/4 C of granulated sugar). For the sauce (Instead of 1/2 C of sugar I use only 2-3Tbsp)

      how do you caramelize your baking pan?

    • @TheRealNormanBates
      @TheRealNormanBates Před 4 lety +9

      szamee83 Caramel is essentially melted sugar, so I assume you but in a bit of sugar and either a little water or butter. Put baking pan in the oven enough to melt the butter and/or heat the water, mix with the sugar and then spread over the bottom to create a layer under the BP as it cooks.

    I enjoyed your video, the quality of filming is very good. I have to comment though as I grew up knowing real Bread Pudding as my Grandparents owned a chain of Hotels and restaurants. My Grandmother never ever used a new loaf of bread, she used stale bread and if it was't stale she would cut it up and bake it a bit in the over (that baking gave it warmth in taste)...a lot more milk, eggs and sugar and vanilla (double ) what you have there, and the bread was soaked all night in 1/2 of the liquid mixture. She like to keep it simple, but there were times when nuts or fruit was added..anyhow the next day the bread would have been soaked, and the rest of the mixture was poured over it. The dish for this baking was deep, not at all a 3" pan as the bread and custard would rise. It was all baked in a water bath to prevent drying out. And..then the vanilla sauce over top if one wanted, most customers just wanted the bread pudding and no sauce..go figure..Old Fashioned way of making it I am sure, but she said the toasting of the bread was essential and stale bread was better to use.............

  • @ChefJoannaAlexis

    Yummm!!! My secret recipe is to let it soak overnight. Stale bread is best. My mom showed me how to make it since I was 8 years old. Super easy! Organic eggs are best or duck eggs. A little bit of honey takes it to the next level.

      Ya know, I think ppl get a bit too hung up on what's considered "traditional" for holiday desserts. I think bread pudding is a fabulous addition to a holiday dinner menu, especially if you make the bourbon sauce.
      Or...if you want a sauce but want it non-alcoholic, just leave out the bourbon and sub in maybe organic maple syrup or honey for that touch of decadence. However you make it, your family will love it. Happy holidays to you and yours. 😁

      Same here - I actually soak ALL the different dried fruits that I use in bread pudding & other puddings in warmed bourbon rather than boiling or hot water to plump them up. (Unless the tiny humans will be having it of course, lol). We only have the tiny & little humans at holidays now, so I spoil the hubby and I with bourbon-soaked fruit in any recipe that I can, lol. 😉

      @@croutoncrackerjacks I love learning that someone is finding something new to be excited about. Easily one of my favotire recipies. Cinnimon makes it GREAT with dark chocolate how ever in it or on it. Do not forget some put Nuts in it (I am deathly allergic but family loves em) so it is just a fun dish to start baking practice. If I have a kid I will hope to make this a fun idea for them to participate with.
