- Today in our village, we hunt tiny snails in our lake! We call this type of snail "Oomachi" in our language. While hunting we enjoy the village nature and we clean the snails in the lake water.
This snail recipe is an authentic recipe of our village and this is the traditional food for our village peoples.

In Manipur, we eat that kind of fresh water snail. But the way of cooking is bit a different.
When I mention to a friend from Delhi, that we eat snail. But he mock me that snail aren't supposed to eat. Later, till today I feel that, we are the only one in India, that consumed snail.
Now I realize that we, Mainpuri aren't alone😄
Don't be disheartened. This type of fresh water small snails are also eaten in west bengal. We call it "googly". But the cooking technique is different from this video. We first remove the shell, clean then cook a curry with mustard paste. Very tasty...😋

Hi! I'm from Malaysia & I truly like your channel. This is 1 of the best episode! It's therapeutic to watch the calm village and lake scenery. I like the part where everyone dives and bath after long hours of searching the snails. The views recorded by the drone are magnificent! In Malaysia, we also eat such snail - We call them Siput Sedut (Suck Snail) but the size a bit bigger and longer. We cook them in coconut milk, ground turmeric, turmeric leaf and chilies. These snails are tasty!

You know sometimes after watching them, I just wonder if the metro & luxurious lives we r living now is better or life was good in early times, when technology was not Artificial smart, rather it was just enough for survival... 🤔 People used to work manually, diseases and sufferings were less, little education and rest learnings from real life experiences...

Your lifestyle in the villages and country side is like the Vietnamese too. They too go foraging for fish, frogs, crabs and snails in rivers and close to home to eat. They can also start a fire anywhere, that’s what’s so amazing about the lifestyle. Catch and cook as you please. Those snails look too small, and so much effort for little meat.
