  • Fiat Punto Grande Heater Resistor Problems repair or replacement
    Very easy to do and check..the cost of a new Resistor is around £10 including delivery ..time to take out and to check around 30 minutes
    if you clean the resistor pins and use WD40 shake off any excess ..when testing the fan don't leave it on too long if the resistor is out of its carrier as this acts as a cooler too to stop the resistor over heating... if your connection plug or wiring is damaged because of the heat,you can buy a new replacement plug with part of the wiring loom..you then cut off your old plug and reconnect the new plug and loom using good large size connection blocks ..These new plugs and loom are available on eBay too

    If you only have 4 speeds, then the 10 amp fuse on the rheostat itself has blown. This fuse
    it does not burn out due to a short circuit, but only due to heat, you can replace it with a synod that is placed on water boilers. From 10 amperes. But that didn't solve everything, because the cause of synod burning is dust in the fan itself, as well as its bearings, which need to be cleaned and lubricated.

    My Punto's heater is not working. It's not much of a problem here in the tropics, but I'm also loosing coolant. (Oil is not chocolate in colour) I suspect a leak in the core. Is it located behind the glovebox too? I've been hearing what sounds like a stream from that general area.

      I hope you don't need this information any more, but just in case, and for the benefit of anyone else who's looking...
      It's under the dash on the passenger's side, you have to lie on your back in the passenger footwell to see it. Remove one screw, slide the resistor away from the end where the screw was, and it drops out. It looks just like this Punto resistor, and burns out just the same. Apparently it's caused by a dirty pollen filter slowing the air flow so the resistor doesn't get cooled adequately..

    My fan works on all 4 settings but hardly any hot air coming out. could a new resister fix this?

    • @BitsPieces
      @BitsPieces  Před 7 lety

      No that is not a resister problem..the fan only blows out air that becomes hot as it passes through the heater matrix..so there could be a problem with your heater matrix or a blockage or even head gasket problems can cause lack of water circulation due to lack of water pressure or too much air in the system or a faulty water pump ..the heater resister only regulates the speed of the blower fan and as nothing to do with the heat of the air being blown out.. also check that the temperature selector is working OK as that could be stuck on cold

    • @BitsPieces
      @BitsPieces  Před 2 lety

      If it's blowing cold air, but the csr engine is up to temperature, then it's down to the heater setting flap not opening or there is a water flow problem or air is trapped..or even a head gasket problem..you will need to get it checked out.

      Passenger footwell, behind the glovebox Near the motor plug (orange wires) there's another plug going into a clear plastic tank right up against the bulk head. That is the resistor pack, it's identifiable by the single 5.5mm bolt head screw
