I just picked this one up and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was actually a 38mm rather than the stated 40mm, and for a dress watch I think the smaller size looks great. Sub seconds and a domed sapphire crystal round out a great all around package.

The movement is a Sea-Gull ST1701. The ST17 is a development of the ST16, which was derived from the Miyota 8 Series. The ST17 gave up the ST16's hacking feature (lever on fourth wheel) for the small seconds complication.
Technically, the ST16, ST17 and DG28xx movements are not Miyota clones, because they can easily be distinguished from the Miyota, and each other. Something like a Sea-Gull 2130, Hangzhou 6 Series or Liaoning Peacock SL3000 , can reasonably be called ETA 2824-2 clones, because they are indistinguishable to the untrained eye.

It’s a great looking dress watch. Fantastic value.

No, it is NOT a Miyota 8215 movement.
It is a chinese one. I have a Parnis with similar movement, which works great. It winds in both directions, which is great.
Just the rotor is from another Guanqin movement, with marking 8200 - a Guanqin clone of miyota, but this watch has completely different movement, as I wrote - a chinese one. Should be good though!

Looks like a Miyota 8215 movement with some decoration added.

I actually like the dial for its whiteness and these uneven spots near edges to boot. I don’t have much experience with enamel dials, but wouldn’t you expect these dimples on enamel, because it is a glass top layer on a surface? I think you would see it cropping back near edges. Due to the viscosity when it melts as it gets baked. I for sure am not to complain, picked it up for 16 euros.

Compare to Rodina R005. It looks like both of them use the same movement Seagull ST1701 which is ST17 with small second hand.

I really want to pick up a Rodina at some point for review. Really interesting little watch!

Love your content, but in the link when scrolling through the specifications it says Hardlex not sapphire, also in the description states Hardlex.

Thanks for the comment! I believe the description is in error. Other sites have it listed as Sapphire which is why I decided to do the water drop test on it. At some point I want to get a diamond tester to get an actual hardness reading.

I have a question about the thickness of the watch, in the advertisement it says that it is 10 mm, is that true or does it exceed that measure? I hope you can reply

Would you recommend this model or the guanqin one?

Both are made by Gua Qin, but the other model, the gj16034, I think is a better watch. I would only get this one if you really liked the style and the small seconds.
