- It was Masters Sunday and Smylie Kaufman was on the edge of a breakthrough. He was just a PGA Tour rookie and this was his first Augusta National appearance, but he’d played his way in the final pairing on the final day.
That day went sideways. The years that followed did, too. Kaufman was hurt, then lost, then both. So how did he find his footing? And how did it feel to get there? This is Smylie Kaufman’s story - and it’s one worth hearing.

Smylie has quickly become one of my favorite people in golf. Love his podcast and he is fantastic inside the ropes.
Smylie Kaufman is just a great guy. I played in college for his Grandfather Alan Kaufman. Being from Ireland I remember going over to his house for Thanksgiving and playing basketball in the backyard. He even contacted me one Summer I stayed in Birmingham to see if I wanted to play at Shaol Creek. I was delighted for him when he won on Tour but I'm happier to see him becoming the voice of golf. Love tuning in to hear him commentate. Congrats Smylie! Legend
You're an amazing addition, Smylie. Great success to you in 2024!
No trolling here! Thank you for sharing your story! Cheers
Great interview!
Great story that's very familiar to me. I like where my feet are. Perfect! Good luck 👍
Great but you need someone to balance the audio levels. Music was WAY louder than the talking
Nice to hear Jason saying that he’s a golf nut, just like me, I’ve been playing 52 years, nearly every day,it’s like a drug, can’t get enough of the game. Best wishes and success Jason. Thank God I’ve never had injuries, good Genes.
God Bless you Smylie!
Smylie is the man! See you at Genesis.
When you all say smilie ,there is only one person who automatically comes to mind and that is Victor Hoviland
Amazing that the golfing community would cast shade to a solid tour player. 99% of the people commenting can’t break an egg.
