    If you zero out your slide caliper on the 2 coins before you place them on either side of the rotor, you will not need to subtract the thickness of the coins after you measure the caliper with the 2 coins.

      yes but the lip will interfere with your calipers. by doing it with the coin you are avoiding the lip... your way the caliper will ride on it

    • @pault5947
      @pault5947 Před 4 lety +1

      @@666dynomax No, place the 2 coins in the slide caliper and zero the display. Then place the coins on the disc and the caliper will have to open further to accomodate the extra thickness. The subsequent widening is the brake disc thickness. :)

    I suggest using two washers instead of coins. Coins are not flat and it will result in a lot of variation and error. The third method is clever but of no value. Most rotors have approx .060 of material to work with and a tape measure will never see that. BTW, nice job on the video part.

    • @kaptainkanguru101
      @kaptainkanguru101 Před 6 lety +1

      Almost a valid point, coins aren't flat but their irregular surface fluctuates maximum of .25mm !!! So what if you have an accurate margin of 0.5mm?

    Has anyone ever heard of warped discs causing the wheel on balance it speeds between 65 and 80 miles an hour?
    my old tires were fine no balancing problems on the highway at any speed two sets of brand new tires and vibration bouncing at 65 to 80 miles an hour.
    could it be a total coincidence that my brake rotors or one rotor ended up warped and now it’s causing a bouncing or a vibration but at the very specific speed’s?
    I can’t see that happening.
    why would I get a bouncing or a vibration at 65 to 80 miles an hour?

    So ..rotors are supposed to have a "lip"?

    • @ThumperG
      @ThumperG Před 9 měsíci

      Yes it’s normal for your rotor to develop a lip on the outer & inner edge where the pad doesn’t reach. Some shops even sell a special tool so you can cut the lip even with the rest of the rotor during a brake pad swap. (I’ve also seen it done the “cheap way” with a grinder and a flap disc lol) But yes many cars develop this lip, it’s normal, just check your pads each brake change to make sure your still well within spec and have enough rotor material to make it to the next brake service.

      Hi Fabio40, #1- Why would you compare the jacking spots of a unibody FRAMELESS car and a full frame pick up truck? # 2- since the last 20 years, most cars have designated sluts on the seem of the rocker panels to received the lifting device, and that specific spot is designed to support the weight without damaging the structure. In perspective, you far more ignorant than the video guy !!!! You can't even jack a car up !!!! That's hilarious! 3#- By the way, can you even tell what kind of vehicle is in the video?
