    I personally would switch priorities from the 2400$ panel for a better monitor. Clients usually will care less how your personal experience of grading is like than having more accurate grading. From my experience, you can really tell the difference of a 400 and a 1000$ monitor. Especially if you do a lot of high key commercial stuff that require a "cleaner" look rather than a filmic moody one. Headroom for error is smaller for the first. Just my 2 cents :)

      @SjoerdWess  Před 2 lety +1

      absolutely! If that is your work field, a monitor would definitely be the better option!

    Hope you're having a great holiday Sjored! Do you think that USB-C is enough for this monitor? There is a thunderbolt 3 port version of the BenQ PD2705U, but I don't know why someone would choose the thunderbolt edition over the model you're reviewing. Do you have any insight on this? Is there a major difference between the usb-c versus thunderbolt? Please let me know!

    Hey man, amazing setup. Just a question, are you using a decklink to send a clean signal from your Mac to the Display? This is what everybody says, if you just connect your laptop you are not actually seeing a "correct" image on your display because it is being color processed first by your Mac.

    • @SjoerdWess
      @SjoerdWess  Před 2 lety +2

      Erik, this is indeed the right way to do it. However, I dont colorgrade for top-teir work. All my work ends up on CZcams which will be seen on a ton of different types of screens anyway. I calibrate the screen as good as I can, which the Macbook will take into account. The profile is being saved within the mac. A good tip is to check the final on your phone to see if it matches with what you’re seeing onn you ref mon!

    Thanks for the informative video. Let’s say you calibrate the monitor with all your window shades and door closed, does that mean that from then on, you should work all the shades and door closed? Or else the calibration would be off?

    Credible overview, Sjoerd. Office background, a plus - work environment adds to aura, IMO; window light on left a tad distracting. Suggest it be covered or out of frame in future. Not a fan of soft music in talking head background - also detracts, though some might think it adds “cool” factor. Valid variability comment about color perception differences for different devices.
    How often do you calibrate the monitor?
    Effective thumbnail. Let’s see if I’ve learned anything from your posts - my bet is that the “model” was lit, in part, by “practical” lighting, not just lit by monitors. Yes? If so, I owe you a virtual beer 🍺. Otherwise ... never mind😁. Cheers!
