In Invincible Mark’s relationship with Amber is looking pretty rocky, with Amber being upset with Mark that he’s gone for such long periods of time and without warning, and Mark being angry that Amber is hanging out one on one with another guy in college, Gary who helps Amber out with her homework
Combined with the fact that Multiverse Eve just confessed that she has always loved him, Mark is very conflicted and goes to visit Eve in Africa
Eve comes for a hug, knowing what Mark just had to deal with and asks how his mother is doing after their encounter with Angstrom and they pause to look at each other for an awkward amount of time, before kissing, as we take this time to note that he is still dating Amber at this point in the story
They both pull away, looking at each other before Eve apologizes saying she didn’t mean to and Mark tries to blame it on himself
Mark says he can’t do this to amber and Eve agrees although there is still some awkward tension before Cecil calls requesting for help
Cecil also needs Eve for this mission so they fly together and Mark tell Eve to grab his hand so they can get there faster, and she does but looks rather somber while doing so
They are sent to stop the Sequid invasion on Earth which delays their eventual conversation about their relationship until much later in the story

@@dionagona8205 first point is right. Race-swapping was Kirkman’s decision though, and it didn’t really affect the story at all.
Race swapping is dumb,if it isn't important to the story why change it. Why not create someone new. It's not like her being black was important either or provided any inspiration due to the fact that Amber doesn't do anything besides smash invincible...also it isn't like there aren't already pre existing strong lead colored people in the comic.
They've made Eve, Amber and Rex so much better in the show, i hope they continue doing that

The thing is amber and mark breaking up make sense in the show but what build up was there in the second season to show that atom eve even had feelings for mark
Eve having feelings for Mark has been evident since the first season actually. She even tried hooking up with him by flying to his home and going to his window, only for her to see Mark and Amber making out, and she was clearly disheartened and forlorn seeing it, but was still happy for Mark.
They were building that from season 01. That awkward look she would give, her flying to see him... it was all there. Subtle. But she definitely gave signs to liking Mark.
But what about in season 2
There was no indications she still liked him
And how could her feelings stay the same despite decades passing by, when at most all she really knew him for was over 2 years
In my opinion it just felt like he was someone she’d have a crush and then move on from but to be in love with him for that long despite only knowing him for a small amount of time just doesn’t make sense To me

I like that in the show they changed this because Mark just came back from a traumatic experience and even though he did want to tell her, he knew that getting into another relationship was not the best thing for him at the time
They skipped the whole thing in the animated show so that Mark doesn't cheat. lmao

I love that Mark didn't go from Amber to Eve right away in the show. Honestly I think they learnt a lot from the reception of different characters in the comics.
I knew there was a couple changes to the show while watching. It felt off from what I remembered. He had to apologize for "cheating" if I remember right
In the show Amber leaves him by the end of Season 2, so doubt they'll do the whole BA of Mark having to apologize for wanting to be with Eve.
This decision was made after Anissa's first appearance as they both agree it's unfair to both of them and unsafe for them to continue their relationship.

Better to just cheat rather than go through a meaningless conversation which ends up with her making you the reason the relationship doesnt work instead of the painfully obvious.

I love the way the show adaptation handle this situation and not making mark a cheater, even though it is understadable after how amber treated him. Plus I can only rely on the show since I don't read the comic to know its version on the characters (yes I did watch the comic review based on the youtubers here and there but it's not enough).

It's not Eve apologized, they both said that simultaneously. It means that it was a shared desire to kiss each other.
The breakup was actually better in the show I think. Anissa threatening Amber was a good reason for her to not want to be involved with mark. In the comic she threatened Debbie not Amber. Made more sense for it to be Amber, especially after Rex promised to cover for mark. It was just well written in the show I find.

I've never read the comics but from seeing this shorts I feel like amber in the animated series is way better than comics. Not just amber but also eve, mark, and rex in case of love story/romance part. If I watched this scene in the series then I'll probably be upset with mark because of the cheating, and upset with amber because the series's amber is way more mature and understanding

This is my only problem with Invincible, some characters in the comics aren’t synonymous with the show which I personally don’t mind to watch, but it’s confusing cuz it’s like which one is the REAL character ? But invincible is still a good series and comic to consume, I just wish the consistency of character appearances was more clear
