As an indigenous person myself (Zapotec) we have third genders known as Muxes. They have been around and consider a gift in a family for a very very long time. They necessarily don’t identify as male nor female and would rather use pronouns they/them which we must respect.

Which is how it should be. The made up invention of ‘gender’ and then gender stereotypes because of it has created the current situation. There should be no such thing as gender. You have your biological sex, so your body is either male or female, but everything else is just your personality. People should be able to be as masculine or feminine as they want regardless of what body they have. If people weren’t told from the moment they’re born that they have to be a certain way if they have a girl body or a certain way if they have a boy body there would be hardly anyone growing up feeling like they have the wrong body, or that they must be somewhere in between being both a girl and a boy. Without gender people would be free to be whoever they’re supposed to be without all the extra stuff and without feeling like they need to make drastic changes

Personally I support everyone being themselves first and foremost, if someone wants me to refer to them as they/them then I don't see the issue. The reason why I PERSONALLY don't find an issue with it is because for example if someone sees a stranger and is curious what gender they are, a question they would ask is "what do THEY identify as?" Why is it such an issue to change your vocabulary once there is a label involved?
Now from another point of view, there are some that will straight up snap on a stranger for using the incorrect pronouns and I think that's really the issue. How is a stranger supposed to know how you identify yourself? Why is someone who has little to no access to your life, expected to make your life more comfortable? Yes I agree homophobia, racism, etc. should not exist but reality is it does. Plus we wouldn't appreciate love without knowing hate. Therefore making a change is important but should not be expected in everyone because not everyone is open minded, and not everyone has the mentality of "let them live how they want because it won't affect mine".

How do you tell they/them from he/him or she/her in a physical form (body)? Because when I see a masculine person, I think it's a man. What if it's they and you called them wrong? They start to call you names for not respecting them etc. This is how it affects us. I'm not against non-binary people calling themselves they/them, but don't expect me to know who you are and call you how you want.

The speaker doesn't know the gender so they automatically use a pronoun. This speaker isn't enforcing anything here. He is just trying to refer to this person.
English doesn't have a pronoun that doesn't refer to a person whose gender you don't know. Non-binary doesn't exist from a linguistic view. There are however, languages which do not have this barrier, like Persian and Japanese (if I'm not wrong about Japanese).
We have it in English but mostly its used to refer to sth that isn't intellectual, except when you say "Who is it?".
Another good example is how they refer to God as "he". We don't know the gender. He doesn't have one but language needs a pronoun to refer to it.
