Looking for huge maral (à la recherche d'un grand maral). Episode 1

We saw beautiful marals during this expedition. Several typical marals, large 6x6, then a very huge maral with antlers probably exceeding 16 kilos, at last the maral « non typical » (wearing a trez tine going back on the right main beam ). I wanted to give the opportunity to this American hunter to get a huge maral.

Nous avons vu de beaux marals au cours de cette expedition au Kazakhstan. Plusieurs marals représentatifs, de grands 6x6, un énorme maral avec des bois dépassant très probablement les 16 kilos, enfin le grand maral "tête bizarde" (portant une chevillure partant vers l'arrière sur le merrain droit). Je souhaitais faire tirer un très grand maral à ce chasseur Américain qui en rêvait.

In Caucasus mountains of Azerbaidjan is Cervus elaphus maral, but different from the deer for Central Asia (Cervus elaphus songaricus, before Cervus canadensis songaricus).The word "Maral" mean "red deer" in all Asia, in all Turco-mogol languages and also in "farsi" (Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan)

The old Maral where you said too short was great. He seemed to be very old, always nice to harvest an old one even if he isn’t huge :-) great to see the population in that area is still healthy. Good video!

Yes you are right, it was an old good 7x7 (maybe more) to hunt, but we saw the same morning, before the fog, another huge and old maral too.
And what the guide (me) have to choose ? To try to find the very big one of the morning ? Or to finish the hunt on that old maral ?
Anyway we found the last day, early morning, the very big one again, in the other side of the valley. We stalk him, we saw the cows at good distance coming where we was waiting, but the maral never follow. Argn ! To add those footage will make the video too long and the maral when we saw him what very far so the video not so good.
