- Listen to and read U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt’s Man with the Muck-Rake speech, delivered in Washington D.C., in 1906. In this speech, Colonel Roosevelt explains that corruption should be exposed wherever it exists in the nation, but not to the point where it causes the nation more harm than good.

Part of me is disheartened at the current state of politics. But, in my want to reject the national politics, I myself must strive not to Rake the Muck, but rather to look upward and achieve lofty goals in the name of my fellow man. Hard it is to achieve not just lofty goals, but merely the mentality necessary to pursuit action towards that cause.
When such a mindset begins to Wayne within myself, I look forward to listening this speech over again with hopes restored. Thanks for the great video and have a blessed day

Anyone know why P.Rossevelt said this speech?
My book says “Beginning in the 1890s, National politics had become complicated by the rise of exposé journalism, which blended news with sensationalism and used reporting to stir up political sentiment. Roosevelt strongly opposed this movement. This speech, delivered to the house of representatives on April 14, 1906, articulates his reasons.”
