Yep they are still his adoptive parents after 4 years. The fact that Buck is back on the job after all the trauma he went through on the job is all due to Bobby! When Athena and Buck went to find Maddie hell they became her parents too!

Buck and Eddie are pretty much the kid brothers. One getting in trouble one getting out.
Bobby Begins Again. The scene where Buck first arrives at the 118 in the middle of dinner and introduces himself. He takes the empty seat next to Bobby, and Buck says he feels like he’s in the right place, Bobby just smiles at him but you can see he’s thinking “yeah, I think you are”.
How crazy is it that the show was originally from Abby’s perspective about all these crazy calls she took but now it’s about a found family, trauma and the laughs that come with it
The weird thing is Buck real parents never know the girls that he used to date and currently dating (Natalia), like what parents usually care about of their son

@@lauratroy13 it’s just canon that neither Buck nor Maddie seemed to understand pop culture references they really should (at least in season 1&2) so I think their household probably just didn’t allow much tv or music.
Bobby is Buck's father. Period.
Bobby and Athena are the parents Buck needed. Way better than the parents he actually had.
This, and it’s why Buck went to the extreme of the lawsuit when he felt Bobby had betrayed him, it was an extreme reaction but Buck had never known what having protective loving parents was like, so couldn’t see why Bobby would feel or behave the way he did. He’d opened up his vulnerability to Bobby in a way he never could with his real parents, at least not until the Buck Begins story arc.

In Fight or Flight (2x13) there's a scene with just Athena and Buck in the car, Buck's sitting lost in thought and she actually calls him "Buckaroo" as she can see how worried he is. I rewatched the episode recently and only just picked up on it. Just a Mom calling her son by his pet name.
Especially after Monday's season finale.
