thought that was good too. united look like they hope it clicks where as arsenal look like there is a method they are building to even with set backs. Arsenal have had terrible defences for ten plus years and now they are actually showing a bit of something consistantly. united aren't. sometimes they have a good game, sometimes not. United remind me as a lfc fan of us in the mid 90's, had good players and sometimes we would turn up and crucify teams, then the next week it would be horrible, it wasn't actually building to anything, arsenal are turning in performances that look intentional, united are just hoping for the best

At the end of last season, for example, Utd's front three were being praised for scoring more goals than Liverpool's. So, where is the problem at? Surely, it cannot be in signing more players.

      except that's ManUtd's problem
if you can identify that they need defensive players - then look at who they signed in the summer
Telles (a fullback), Van Der Beek (an attacking midfielder), Cavani (a striker), Pellestri (another forward), and the active pursuit of Sancho
      compare it with Arsenal
they had a weak area (centre back and DM), and they've bought in Partey and Gabriel
there's light and day issues with recruitment there, and that falls partly on Ole (we want Sancho for... reasons)
what's the plan to actually challenge, because right now the club is a farce (but don't worry... I'm surely they'll fail to acquire Sancho again next summer)
it doesn't matter if Arteta's play hoofball, he's identified a weak area within the squad, and they've rectified it - you can't make that same argument about ManUtd

The diamond isn't the way Ole want's to play. He did not get the players he wanted so he is forced to play with whatever he has. You want style and tactics, here you go: high press with the forward line off the ball, with the ball the winger and fullback combine to create space for the cross, get bodies in the box. The fast wingers are perfect for the counter-attack. You look at the team and you notice quite fast that there is no right winger, the fullbacks are subpar going forward (no width) so the task of creating chances falls onto the attacking mid who is bombarded with bodies. The diamond is not what he wants to play but it is what uses the sqads assets to it's maximum. And as much as I like Martial he is not a threat in the air. Instead of Ighalo, Van de Beek and Cavani he wanted Haalandm Sancho and Grealish. It is hard to play your style if you don't have the players who can play it.
