      A good drill and pressure washer can make this job take less than 5 minutes.

    I understood wd40 is bad for bearings because it also desolves the lubricants and not just the rust. Better use regular bearing cleaning methods like bones speed cream.

      @dayswithjase  Před 3 lety +1

      ooooo i’ll have to try the speed cream next time. ive been using wd40 on my skateboards forever ass it’s super accessible and cheap and never had any problems with it! i’ll be sure to make an update video here if it causes any damage in the long run :)

      @@dayswithjase yeah, I don't know if it's really that bad for your bearings, but it is what everyone says. If it works, it works right. :)

    Hey man quick question! What size or measurements should I get for penny board bushings?

  • @defaultbandaid7909

    I’d like to say, you can totally do this with tap water, you just might notice streaking when it dries.
    He doesn’t cover this in the video but distilled water is pure water without any minerals in it, that’s why you’re not supposed to use it for drinking water because many of the minerals in water give it the taste we are used to an are actually healthier than non mineral water.
    However, this same reason we don’t drink distilled water is the same reason it’s so good for cleaning. Since there’s no minerals left on the cleaning surface when the distilled water dries (due to minerals not being present in the Distilled water), the finished product with always look better with distilled water.
    I hope that clears up why he used distilled water but it’s not 100% required. At the end of the day a board cleaned up with tap water and serviced with WD-40 is going to ride a lot better than a crusty board you’ve not cleaned at all.

    Hey, jasey. I would only add that WD-40 wicks water away from the metal parts that you spray it on, so if you're out riding in water, when you return home you should spray some WD-40 on the metal parts that came into contact with the water, then dry off with a towel after it has had some time to work into the metal.
    Relatedly, by spraying WD-40 into your bearings, you're actually dissolving any lube you might have on your bearings and hence placing your bearings at risk for developing rust. So, for a more complete cleaning AND lubing, you'll need to take apart each wheel, clean the bearings, and lube them with an appropriate lube (e.g., Bones Speed Cream). But, a lot of guys don't want to hassle with doing that and instead will buy like Bones Reds bearings and just replace their old bearings with these since they're inexpensive, roll very fast, and make it so easy to replace bearings on a regular basis so you don't have to mess with all the taking your bearings apart, cleaning them, lubing them, etc. But, they sell bearings cleaning kits pretty cheap if you want to save your old bearings and keep those clean and lubed.

    My penny board just came today so it will probably take awhile for mine to get rusty especially since it is winter so I can’t even use it outside for another 6 weeks 😹
