How did you find that trail? I went up the other trail that faces the town of Tihany and the church. It was very steep. The trail you took looks easier. I was there two years ago.

The trail starts around 300 m north of Tihany harbor. Just follow the road along the shore. Parts of the trail are quite steep and rocky however. Looks like I didn‘t Film in these places. Hope you had a great time at Lake Balaton.

@@frankexplores4794 Thanks. I had an awesome time in Tinhany. I was trying to find the trail you went on but I couldn't. Are there tree trails or only two? I've also only studied Hungarian for two years, so I had trouble communicating with some people. Do you go to Hungary for a vacation often? I am from Canada, but I'd like to go back there and see more.

Hi Matthew, learning Hungarian language as a Canadian must be extremely uncommon :). What was your motivation? Yes, I speak some Hungarian. At least I can get around and talk about simple or practical stuff. But when it comes to politics or philosophy, I tend to completely fail. My wife is Hungarian. We have a house there, about a 20 minute bike ride from Tihany. We live near Munich, Germany, but we spend around 2 months there each year, partially working remotely. Well, the last two years it was a bit less due to lockdowns and travel restrictions. I hope to spend Christmas and the following two weeks there.

@@frankexplores4794 That's awesome. I was dating a woman that lives in Veszprém so I started learning Hungarian so I could move there. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a job that would accommodate English speakers in her town and the covid lockdown kind of killed the relationship Unfortunately. I don't want to stop learning the language because I'll forget all the words I've learned and I want to return to see my friend Attila and hang out on Lake Balaton some day, even if I can't be with that girl. Having a house there would be awesome. The real estate is definitely cheaper than it is in Canada. I imagine there must be other ancient places around Balaton besides Barátlakások. I also have family in Germany I should visit one day too. Are there any restaurants or hotels you recommend in the area?

@@matthewbaumann630 I wish you good luck, being able to return to Hungary soon.
Real estate prices are still lower than in most parts of Germany and probably Canada. However Lake Balaton has gotten relatively espensive. We were lucky to buy our house about 8 years ago. Prices have tripled since then.
Hotels are actually rare at Lake Balaton and they tend to be expensive. But there are lots of private rooms and houses to rent for a good price.
I can recommend almost all restaurants, Yes, there are a few shitty places but it is quite unlikely to run into them. If you like good food and don't care about tuxedo wearing waiters, you should also try some street food places.
