Super soft, chewy, and studded with chocolate!
Here is what you'll need!
The Best Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
Servings: 12
INGREDIENTS
½ cup sugar
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
4 ounces milk or semi-sweet chocolate chunks
4 ounces dark chocolate chunks (or your preference)
PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.
In a large bowl, whisk together the sugars, salt, and butter until a paste has formed with no lumps.
Whisk in the egg and vanilla, beating until light ribbons fall off the whisk.
Sift in the flour and baking soda, then fold the mixture with a spatula, being careful not to overmix too much. This will cause the gluten in the flour to toughen which will result in cakier cookies.
Fold in the chocolate chunks evenly, then chill the dough for at least 30 minutes. For a more intense toffee-like flavor and deeper color, chill the dough overnight. The longer the dough rests, the more complex its flavor will be.
Scoop the dough with an ice-cream scoop onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving at least 4 inches of space between cookies and 2 inches of space from the edges of the pan so that the cookies can spread evenly.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges have started to barely brown.
Cool completely, and enjoy!

I just think it’s so cute how someone out there is making these cookies right now and so am I. We’re baking together and we don’t even know it. :)

this is so cute wtf
Aww ( ⁎ᵕᴗᵕ⁎ )
Making them right now ❤️
Just for the 1% of people who are going to see this here are the measurements and ingredients and method for it. Also I converted it into grams.
Ingredients:
½ cup granulated sugar (100g)
¾ Brown Sugar (150g)
1 tsp salt
½ cup butter (Melted) (120g)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1¼ cup Plain Flour/All Purpose Flour (160g)
1/2 tsp Baking Soda/Bicarbonate of Soda
4 oz Dark Chocolate Chunks (110g)
4 oz Milk Chocolate Chunks (110g)
Method:
In a bowl, beat together the white sugar, brown sugar, Melted butter and salt.
Mix that and crack in 1 egg and add the vanilla extract. Mix that in as well.
Sift together the flour and Baking Soda/Bicarbonate of Soda and again, mix that in. Add the chocolate chunks and mix them in until fully incorporated.
Cover the dough with cling film/plastic wrap and let it chill for 1 hour or even better, overnight.
Scoop the cookies with an ice cream scoop and put them on a greased baking tray. Put them in the oven at 180°C/350°F for 10 - 15 minutes.
Transfer onto a wire rack and let them cool for 10 minutes.
Enjoy! ♥ ❤️💖💕💞💓
Edit: Holy cow that's a lot of likes, (ten thousand)
Edit 2: Yes I know it is in the description but the description didn't convert it into grams.
Edit 3: USE DARK BROWN SUGAR

Tried the recipe, it’s very good especially when just out of the oven. Honestly the best chocolate chip cookie I ever tried. Crunchy outside and soft inside. I did few adjustments based on others’ reviews.
1. Yes, cool down the butter before pouring in.
2. I changed to 1/4 cup white sugar and 2/4 cup brown sugar, turns out still a tiny bit sweet and perfect with a cup of tea. May cut down a little bit more sugar next time.
3. 1/2 tsp salt, perfect
4. I chilled the dough overnight
5. Baked for 10 mins when edges are lightly browned. For sure no need of 15 mins
6. Cool down for around 5 mins and enjoy !
hey, what temperature did you preheat it to?
How long should we cool the butter down for?
Don’t you just love the cooking/baking community? Everyone is so helpful 🤗
If anyone isnt getting the results promised in th vid, heres some tips cuz when I did this it turned out right
1. DONT USE AN ELECTRIC MIXER it puts u at high risk of overmixing which will give u a cakey cookie. use a wisk and spatula, Its not too hard it not alot of batter.
2. Let your melted butter cool before u mix it into the batter. Not letting it cool wont let the cookie spread as much.
3. Use dark brown sugar, not light brown. More flavour and the cookie just comes out better than ligh brown. I tried it both ways.
4. Eat them as soon as possible. Theyre best when theyre warm. theyre still good cold but not as good.
5. Use an ice cream scoop like the vid. u could use ur hands but it wont be accurate. Also dont make the cookies too small. Theyll overcook in the center when the outside isnt brown yet.
6. Use some good chocolate. Trust me its worth it. The cheap stuff doesnt actually melt in the oven. Im not chocolate expert but usually if you hold it in your hands and they start melting its good chocolate. The cheap stuff will give you hard overly sweet weird tasting chunks of chocolate. It wont give the smooth velvety rich pockets of chocolate u see in the video. The cheap stuff wont affect your actuall cookie dough but it just wont give you an exact result the video shows.
If you have any more problems just leave em in replies and ill try to answer them. im no baking expert, just a 13 year old who loves cooking and baking and trying random recipes so if i cant answer your question im sorry but if anyone of you guys see a question you can answer, feel free to do me a favour. I’ve been making these for a couple months now and they’ve been turning out alright! I have substituted the baking soda with baking powder, and chocolate chunks with chocolate chips. The recipe still turns out fine (apart from just one or two cookies not baking completely, but it sorta helps making it soft and chewy) and I would recommend this recipe!!
Definitely try chocolate chunks instead of chips

Made these for a birthday. Ended up making 8 times the batter and slitting one into the original flavour and the other into a brownie type buscuit and omg they were good. Had to make variations with the sugar as I didn’t have enough brown sugar but they still came out so good
Hey everyone, I just made a batch of these cookies today. And they were SO SO SO GOOD ❤️ I added brown butter instead of normal melted butter (Alvin's influence hehe). I pushed some chunks of chocolate after scooping the dough before baking so it melted well. I'd definitely reduce the sugar by a quarter cup as it was a bit sweeter than I thought. While bringing the dough together, I found it crumbling a little, so I brought it together with a splash of milk. Hope this helps anyone reading the comments ❤️ Thank you Tasty for this recipe 🥺❤️
Edit: forgot to add one last thing. If y'all don't have an ice cream scoop, a ladle works perfectly fine!
I totally agree with caramelising the butter & I too found a bit too sweet.
How many cookies does this make?
The tiny deformations that evolve as the cookie picks up moisture around the rim, which causes it to expand, while losing moisture at the center, which causes it to contract. The resulting strains can pull the cookie apart, or leave it more vulnerable to breakage. That's the way the cookie crumbles
I love how the comment sections is giving advise instructions and converting.

These cookies are so good. I used white whole wheat flour(pastry flour) and Splenda for the sugars to make more healthy. I mixed everything by hand. Very important to not overmix. to spare my fellow metric people the conversion-trouble:
100g sugar
165g brown sugar
1 tsp salt
125ml/ 105g melted butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
160g flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
115g milk chocolate chunks
115g dark chocolate chunks
(note: I rounded the measurements to end with either a 0 or a 5 so there's mild inaccuracies, I have also never tested the recipe before so I can't guarantee that they'll turn out well)
edit: I've been informed that these measurements are inaccurate (but considering that cup measurements are incredibly inaccurate anyways it shouldn't really make a difference). Proceed at your own risk.
Kathi B god bless your soul
I'm pretty sure it's not 115 grams of each chocolate, that would be too much! Don't you think it's 115 grams of milk AND dark chocolate mixed together?
@Regi Agatha No, I just checked and it is 115 grams of each (well, 113 grams, but close enough). It does seem like a lot of chocolate for just 12 cookies but I guess you can reduce it to your taste?
Kathi B god bless your generous soul ilu
WARNING THESE CONVERSIONS ARE COMPLETELY INCORRECT. Pull up a conversion table and check it... he's out by 10 - 50 grams in a lot of places. Crazy how you'd post this, and it not be accurate. Hope you're trolling otherwise you're just a piece of shit.

Maybe it depends on the oven or for how long you leav them in the oven🤷♀️
I didn’t have to change anything either😭
I didn’t change it
Me neither, I only had to add a lil more flour, but that was probably my fault
Hello! I made this recipe and for anyone looking for suggestions, I recommend making these adjustments.
-1/4 cup of sugar instead of 1/2 cup
-Only 1/2 tsp of salt
-Do small balls, they expand A LOT
-Only bake for 10-12 minutes
Also if you're making a double batch, use a bit more flour.
Jbeanery use unsalted butter
Sierra S I did but it still tasted a bit salty to me
Jbeanery then use less salt
jbeanery bigger cookies better
How many did the dough make?
I added the browned butter to the sugar mixture and mixed it with everything else immediately. You could tell after it’s all said and done they wouldn’t come out right if you baked them right away. Put mine in the fridge overnight. Didn’t let them come to room temp first before baking and they came out PERFECT.
I made this cookies and they turned out really good! The texture is soft and chewy and a little crunchy on the edges, and it tastes sweet but salty at the same time 🤯😍🍪

I made these and they were remarkable!!!! It was soft chewy and delicious, and the best chocolate cookies I have ever baked. I would definitely recommend making these!
Hii I just wanted to know whether this recipe would work with a conventional microwave…..I have a preheat option in my microwave….
Just tried this recipe and it worked perfect.
Couple tips:
-cool the butter down before adding it to the sugar (it must still be melted but not be bubbling or fairly hot, warm is fine)
- shape the cookies as evenly as possible, I didn’t have the ice cream scoop and used my hands and they still turned out amazing
-you don’t need to bake them upto 15 mins that’s too much time and they won’t be as chewy or soft, once you initially take them out it may seem they are undercooked but let them cool for 10 mins and if the cookie retains its shape it’s good takes around 10-13 mins (size depends)
Oh thx for the tips I'm trying it out now
Wish me luck 🤞 🤞😃

*TO ANYBODY WHO WANTS TO MAKE THIS:*
So, this was my first time baking from scratch, and I've got to say...these cookies are REALLY good! Based on previous comments, I decided to cut down the white sugar by 1/4 cup and the salt by 1/2 teaspoon. This made a huge difference overall, affecting the cookie in a good way, however, I suggest only 1/4 teaspoon of salt since it was sort of salty. For chocolate, I used 60% Swiss Chocolate which made a big difference since it balanced out the sweetness between the cookie and the chocolate. If I had gone for milk chocolate, it would have been just a mouthful of sugar. As I've noticed, there are a lot of people in the comments stating that their cookie dough was sticky/more on liquidy side. Although my cookie dough was pretty much formed, I still decided to add 1/8 cup of flour just to get the right consistency; I put the dough in the fridge for 30 minutes which somewhat stiffened it, but not by a lot. I used a tablespoon to scoop out my cookie dough and stuck it in the oven to bake at 250-300 F for 8-10 minutes and they turned out delicious!
in other words, dislike the video, and find a real recipe,
Oh my god, they’re trying to help, Jesus Christ

I love this, but I tweaked the recipe a bit! BuzzFeed's recipe is TOO SWEET. If you want a really chewy cookie, follow these steps:
1. Melt the butter but make sure you don't incorporate it in the mixture hot. It should be room temp.
2. Mix butter, w&b sugar, and salt THOROUGHLY. Don't just mix it for a little while.
3. Use only 1/4 cup white sugar. Use 3/4 cup brown sugar but DO NOT pack it. You don't need too much sugar, trust me.
4. 110g milk chocolate and 110g dark chocolate is already too much imo. You can lessen them if you like.
5. If the dough looks too wet or if it doesn't look the same as the video, DO NOT WORRY. Just put it in the fridge/freezer and you're all set.
6. Lastly, bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes. 12 mins is the perfect baking time for these cookies FOR ME but it depends on your oven. Do not eat them immediately, wait for 1-2 hrs so they'd get chewy.
Addtl tip: add a small slice of bread in your container when keeping the cookies in storage to preserve chewiness and softness. If you do not do this, your cookies will harden and will get crunchy.
EDIT: I cannot stress this enough but DO NOT overfold your dough. It will turn out CAKEY and soft instead of chewy.
L Hunt thank you so much! This is really helpful- of all the times I’ve made cookies with this recipe it seems like there’s something lacking. This recipe needs adjustment, for example:
*it was waaayyyyyy toooo sweet
*it got burnt
*the middle part is the only edible part
How to fix it?:
-use 1/4 cup of white sugar instead of 1/2
-let in fridge for an hour, that should do the job
- bake for 9-12 minutes at *maximum*
-try using something like a spoon (if you dont have an icecream scoop), to divide the dough to equal/perfectly shaped cookies, so that they cook evenly.
Other than that, this was a really good recipe, a nice day! 💓
If I do those changes will it still be soft? (chewy)

I tried this recipe today and it was a success!
I modified the recipe from suggestions on other comments and this was my final result:
¼ cup sugar - lowered the sugar, by now if you are reading the comments, you probably know that this recipe is WAY too sweet.
¾ cup brown sugar
¾ teaspoon salt - lowered the salt a bit but it’s optional. Didn’t make much of a difference.
¾ teaspoon of ground coffee/espresso powder - optional flavor booster, I used ground coffee because I didn’t have any espresso powder. I baked with only ¾ teaspoon of ground coffee but I think I could have used more.
½ cup butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¾ cup of chocolate chips or 6 oz equivalent of chocolate chunks - lowered the chocolate just to combat that extra sweetness. I used only chocolate chips but next time I will mix it up with chunks.
I baked for 12 minutes and the average cookie sizes were around 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches. The bottom of the cookies were slightly crunchy and the insides were very chewy. Overall, it was hella fantastic!!!
Hi is ur chocolate chips semi sweet or normal?
@@TheKing-ob7rx I used semi sweet chocolate chips but you can use normal if you want
Hii thanks for the advice! Quick question, when you add the melted butter what temperature should it be at? Hot, warm, cold or room temperature?
@@vitamin_c7113 I am not sure that it matters as long as the butter is melted but it was warm when I added it into the batch
thank you!
I have already made these twice and I am making them right now again
I TRIED IT THEY ARE THE BEST COOKIES U CAN MAKE
Toss this puppy fresh out of the oven into the bottom of a bowl and throw ice cream on top. 😛
Don't let cookies cool. Eat em hot!
I think I can win a favor from my mom with that one :-D
Brian S. cookies taste better cold.
This sounds so wrong
Spoiled To Perfection tried that it's the best thing ever

I’m going to be making these cookies for my parents wedding, I hope they turn out great just like all of your other recipes! 💕
Why are your parents marry now
@@ендермєш well it’s because it’s my mother and my stepfather getting married.
I’m making these rn and I’ve just put the dough in the fridge
Update: even though this was 7 days ago, the cookies tasted amazing 🙃❤️
How long do i need to let it in the fridge ?
@@samiald6709 half an hour
I love baking but im too lazy to take out the pots and pans out of the oven. I made some banana bread I few days ago and its still in the fridge. not baked.

Yeah. i love baking but im just to lazy to take everything out of the oven and find a place to put it then bake what im baking and then put everyrhing back.
Same that's why I love my toaster oven for quick cravings

For anyone wondering 1/2 cup of butter is 113g c:
Really thanks a lot :)
Or 1 stick
@@DTruong8 our sticks are 250 gr lmao
THANK YOUU
I tried this and they were amazing!
I always fail at making cookies but this one was soooooooo easy and I would just maybe cut back on 1/4 cup of sugar and these would be THE best
Sensitive Light sugar and not brown sugar, right?
Vasanti Shanbhag yep sorry for the late reply cut back on the WHITE sugar
Sensitive Light yeah it was way too sweet for me
Ya I accidentally forgot to add the 1/2 cup of white sugar and was freaking out but it actually turned out perfect! I couldn't imagine how sweet they must be with the extra sugar. Also added a dollop of peanut butter.
I used all dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate and that managed to balance out the sweetness :)
hello! i just made these and they were alright. i can’t say that they’re the best when it comes to its taste but so far they were the best looking cookies i have made. i failed anna olson’s recipe, my cookie did not flatten. but when i tried this recipe, i had the BEST LOOKING cookies ever.
anyways, here are the adjustments i made
- 1/4 white sugar and 3/4 brown sugar but i didnt pack it
- 1/4 tsp salt
- i didn’t put vanilla extract bc we dont have that at home
my batter is liquidy, but when i put the dough in the fridge and take it out 45 minutes after, the batter was alright.
lastly, i baked it at 160°C for about 13-15 minutes. when you take them out, it’s okay if they are still soft. let them cool for about 10 minutes before you transfer them on a plate.
hope this helped! happy baking!
love tracy thank you! I have also made these and I think that the vanilla makes quite a difference, maybe if you are going to make them again, add more brown sugar (for me it was great, but everyone a different personal preference), and as for the dough being luiquidy, the same happened to me so I just added more flour, remember, baking is about adding little personal touches!
Secret Person ill note that when i bake cookies again soon! ur welcome 🥰
how many cookies did it make? 💕
Abigail Cohen 12!!
thankyou this really helps! but can i know what recipe do you find the best in tasting?
Just YUMMMZZU! Tried this , came out amazing!!
Try using brown butter instead of just melted butter!! It takes it to another level.. let your dough rest as much as possible before baking, it gives your cookie a rich flavour. This recipe is amazing I've been baking these for 3 years now 💕
Yes! I used brown butter and the smell and flavour was out of this world! It really makes a huge difference
@@bareehasalman2416 rigghhhhtt?!!!💗
I made this recipe today and it turned out pretty great! I followed the recipe EXACTLY. I even used ice cream scoop portion sizes when putting the dough on the tray. One thing I did that I would highlight recommend you doing is testing out one thing of cookie dough first. Just one! I know it adds extra time, but it will tell you if it will work out for the rest or not. I did this thinking that an ice cream scoop would be WAY to much, but it wasn't! It looked raw, but when I set it and let it cool it was chewy and just fine! I baked them for 12 mins btw. The cookie I tested got hard because I cooked it for 15 mins, but I cooked the rest of the batch for 12 and it was good! They have a strong toffee taste (I chilled it for 30 mins) and tou can started the vanilla a lot so if you don't like that don't add too much. In general as someone who bakes a lot, this recipe is kinda wonky, but all I can say is follow the recipe exactly, and test your portion sizes! Don't add too much flour, and don't fold it too much. And when storing, add a slice of bread to the container to keep them chewy. Hope this helps, And best of luck to you! :)
Maria Sidiqi yeah I think 15 mins meant mine were too hard, will do 12 mins instead. Thanks
Did you use light or dark brown sugar? 😮 hope you reply!
Thanks
lovelyblkwoman Brown lol I tried to get away with it, turns out I was wrong hahaha
Maria Sidiqi I love the fact that you typed out a whole essay just to be helpful, it shows that you wanted to help others, thanks

Safaa Kadiri shqiptar jie?
That was so good
very good and easy just make sure to follow the exact instructions
Long-time cookie baker here. These are the BEST chocolate chip cookies I've ever made, and I've tried many different recipes. Made the recipe as given, except used 60% chocolate chips at 7 oz - still got amazing melty goodness. The most surprising thing about these cookies is their crisp-chewy edges and soft gooey centers. Keep the sugar to butter ratio, it's perfect. Not too sweet if using dark/semi-sweet chocolate.
DO CHILL the dough, either before you scoop or after. Freeze scooped dough for 5 min at the very least or they will spread too much.
ALSO make sure your oven is ACTUALLY to temp - get a separate thermometer as most home ovens are not accurate reads.
I've actually come up with a recipe where I also use glucose syrup, it's totally amazing !
Random question: when you just started baking, approximately how many tries did it take you to perfect a recipe?
These cookies are sooo good, after making them like 10 times I made some changes to the recipe :))
1. Instead of brown and white sugar, I used 2 tbsp less than 1 cup of white sugar and used about 1/4 cup of molasses. This adds so much more flavor than brown sugar
2. I didn't melt the butter, instead creamed it at room temp(able to skip the chilling process and still get nice shapes)
3. added frozen chocolate chips: they chill the dough when mixed in
4. used only dark chocolate: This recipe is very sweet so milk choc is a bit too much. use bittersweet or dark chocolate instead
5. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. This might be different for every oven. They're perfectly done when the middle of the cookie(it puffs up during cooking) becomes flat and cracks can be seen on the top.
6. let them cool for at least 30 minutes before digging in. This is honestly the hardest step lol but they're so much better when they develop some texture after cooling.
Enjoy baking everyone :D
Will it be okay if I don't add brown sugar and vanilla essence cause I don't have them:(
@@srushti678 You can leave out vanilla essence or substitute it with a little bit of cinnamon :D For the brown sugar, you can do what I did and use only white sugar and some molasses. If you don't have molasses you can just use white sugar in place of the brown sugar, but the cookies will be less chewy I guess. Never tried using only white sugar so I don't know ;-;
I followed ur recipe and mines ended up a little runny
Just a little and I didnt you folded it too much
서영서 can i use self raising flour?
Following this recipe again and again. It really works❤
Just made the dough! Chilling now!!
This is so nostalgic for me because this is one of the first things I tried to bake with my brother over 4 years ago. I love how they used to do easy delicious foods and it was so easy because we weren't as well to do as we are now and these recipes really helped.

How much time do I have to refrigerate it for? It didn't say for me to leave it overnight. It just said "chill"
@@lostsilver9311 at least 30 min. It's in the description
Absolutely love these!! When are whole family thinks of dessert we think of these cookies or the other desserts that tasty makes,I highly recommend using this recipe and others from tasty!
I’m about to go make these cookies 😊
*Important tip*: recipes like this have wayyy too much sugar and turn out way to sweet so instead you could add 1/4 cup castor sugar instead of 1/2 if you don't want it to become too sweet.
I wish I read this earlier. Tried the recipe and had to throw them out since nobody could handle the sweetness
Thks for your comment! Don't like my cookies too sweet.
Kattie Mcfarlin np. The exact thing happened to me. Ended up throwing them out too
Crap, I hope Its not too sweet. I had to substitute some stuff so I don't know if they will turn out the same, but I used the same amount of sugars in the recipe and now I'm worried it's too sweet 🤔😅.. well I guess I might have to wait and see if they are. But thanks for the advice I Will do this when I make it again!
MaibiItsAlice no problem
For all those of you who don't measure in cups.
Ingredients:
100g granulated sugar
130g brown sugar
4g salt
115g butter
1 egg
4g vanilla extract
155g all-purpose flour
2g baking soda
112g milk chocolate
112g dark chocolate
Enjoy!
That's actually so useful, thanks you! 🥺🌸💗
Thank u so muchhhh
Hey just a lil thought I think the brown sugar must be 130g..as its not possible for 1/2 cup of white sugar and 3/4 cup brown sugar to weigh the same..
woah thank you sm ! 💗
